Guys why are you putting Eric to this high standart just now... when this man is practically dying...  Even if he was a cheater... the lack of empathy for someone dying even if it is only on screen... is mind boggling. Also... practically 99.9999 percent of characters in soap operas... if they are on the show for longer than 2-5 years... CHEAT. It is part of the storyline bible. So it is strange that some of you are saying how bad Eric was because cheating and this and that... when Bold is the epitome of cheating scandals and sex scandals show. So we should not have empathy or care about anyone passing then.

Eric is first and foremost and iconic character. Believe it or not, he is. In my country girls would put posters of John as Eric on their walls. So for me it is different perception probably to now see everyone just asking him to die already or that the character is so so bad... that we should not even care. It is an old man dying. I care. That is why I wanted a better storyline for him.

The show chose to give Eric a story about dying. A rather bad story. People react to the story. It is not as though viewers have been demanding for years that the character gets killed off.

  2. I can't take Eric seriously as the Forrester patriarch. I saw him as Stephanie's husband and the father of her children. He was never a strong man, he was never a wise man and all his stories involved inappropriate affairs. The character lost any charm he had left when they started giving him these "funny", sleazy, "sexy" scenes.

However, if John McCook leaves the show, we are left with Brooke in a sea of random people and a(n even more) poorly structured Forrester family.

  3. Y&R
Jennifer Foster, Jill's niece from hell. The perfect candidate for an All About Eve story at Jabot in the 90s.

Her brother Chuck, a a young doctor. Jill could have used a family, but Bill Bell had erased the 70s from the show's history.

Brooks Prentiss, a handsome young businessman in the 90s. By that time the show was way too obsessed with the Newmans though. Wasn't Brooks also related to Jill? I keep forgetting who his mother was. Lori or Leslie?

Robin Wright IS Kelly to me.

That's what I thought back then as well. Now when I am watching random episodes I realize that Carrington is the best thing that could have happened to Kelly. She brought the character in the 90s era just like Kimberly Simms did with Mindy on GL

I adored Lane, I was in love with his Mason, both I thought that both recasts did the part justice and worked well with NLG, Robin Mattson and the Capwell crowd.

Now Ava Lazar on the other hand.. she will always be my Santana.

  5. What I understand from all this is that Rauch and Lemay sabotaged their own show by overestimating Wyndham's (or Mac and Rachel's?) star power and getting rid of major parts of AW's fabric. I can't know why they did this, but they messed things up.

I didn't really intend to stir up the whole shebang "Haley Pullos irresponsible at 24" debate. All I really meant to do was introduce the fact that NLG is still advocating for them to let her come back. The only other thing I will note is that Tyler Christopher has not been given a second chance, at least not so far.

    Advocating is NLG's life Donnatella.

Andrea the surrogate has had the procedure done and might be pregnant. What will happen next?

    1. Andrea dies in a car crash. Molly and TJ turn to Kristina to be the surrogate.

    2. The procedure fails. Molly and TJ turn to Kristina to be the surrogate.

    3. Andrea has TJ's baby. Tj falls in love with Andrea and breaks up with Molly.

    4. Andrea backs out of the agreement and wants to keep the baby. Molly and TJ fight her in court.

    5. Andrea has the baby and give it Molly and TJ without problems.

    What about psycho Andrea?

Pilot for Born in the USA (aka This Land), a proposed half hour soap for FOX in the 2007-08 season by Mal Young and was supposed to air a few nights per week if picked up, has leaked:

Interesting that this made it all the way to pilot stage to be honest. I'm not sure how Fox would've scheduled a half hour soap in that season.

@SteelCity lol don't know who else to @.

This is clearly modeled after the UK soaps and this is what poor Ellen Wheeler was going for on GL. I guess they should have hired someone like Mal Young if they were going for this.

She can't back her statements up with facts. On a daily basis, (I'll only refer to her as IT), makes incorrect statements and is challenged. Upthread it alleged that Wesley Eure and David Oliver were part of the same NBC purge. Wesley Eure was fired from Days YEARS before David Oliver even started on AW. Do NOT believe anything IT says. It is wrong 99.999% of what it posts.

    This post is disturbing.

@GymnastGuy thanks for sharing the Dennis Parker story. It was fascinating and heartbreaking.

It's my understanding that he was out to everyone at GL & to a wide gay community in either NY or where ever he hung his hat.

I think you are right about that and this is probably the truth about most of the people we are talking about. They opened the way for younger generations by being themselves and we should all be thankful.

Oh my, what a terrible trauma that must have been for them....

I don't mean to be rude or flippant, but that seems like a very childish thing to complain about. If they happened to see such a thing for a moment far to the right on the page then it's really not that difficult to look somewhere else, is it? Or did it physically hurt them? Did they have to seek medical attention?

I really think people are getting too sensitive these days.

One should expect not to care for every single post on a message board. I guess some people got upset because they didn't get to kick out a person who didn't fit with their "posting style" or officially moved from highschool to kindegarten drama.

BTW I liked the latest posts column, because I got a glimpse from threads I usually don't check and visited them from time to time.

There are people who've had entire threads frozen because they created a hostile environment with their gatekeeping and gutter sniping.  And somehow their wishes should be catered to, while the excitement of a rabid fan who feels that she's found a community is supposed to be offensive?

Exactly. Valuable posters have left the board because of these people over the years and now they act all upset about this harmless, (always polite even when attacked) lady?
SON is not their private club.
I could not agree more with Errol.
