  1. Between this and the respectable ratings of the AI reboot, Channing Dungey has likely bought herself a couple more years atop ABC. EDIT: Forgot to mention The Good Doctor.

Yeah, people on social media are definitely trying to co-opt the show for shallow political purposes that are at odds with what’s on screen. I have seen a few conservatives claim that it’s portraying liberal caricatures of conservatives.

Yes it is. ABC must be over the moon and I am sure they will get a second season pickup as of today....LOL

    Ha...me do typos...nah:P

Not even Will and Grace did that well. I already forgot their premiere numbers. I think it did well because Roseanne still fits in today's world. I am not sure how many reboots would fit in today's world.

W&G’s premiere got a 3.0 demo rating, which I thought was huge at the time.

  3. The show does feel extra laugh-tracky, like a show within a show.

EDIT: That was actually better than I thought it would be. Everyone settled back into the rhythms of the old show so quickly. And the political stuff was handled relatively organically.

Those first two episodes were great. They really captured what was fantastic about the show at its peak. And Sara Gilbert was the MVP.

    Really?  I thought he lost.

Berdych played a shocking tiebreaker and lost in three. Tiafoe is currently on court with his next match against Kevin Anderson.

This Shapovalov kid is good for 18.

But then he goes and serves disastrously in his final game.

    So happy for Sloane.

Ugh...can't stand Tiafoe or his game. I was hoping for a Berdych vs Anderson match. But Berdych pretty much stunk up the place as usual. He should just retire.

What don’t you like about Tiafoe? Just curious. He seems to have more potential than his American next-gen peers.

  6. Glad that Venus is getting a day off after these long three-setters.

I wonder if Tiafoe can keep things up. He seemed to have Berdych’s number last night.

I think this is the most interesting tournament in terms of matchups in a while, on both sides. Lots of new blood with a few veterans mixed in.

I can't put myself to totally watch the match. Konta's game literally puts me to sleep. I am watching Khachanov vs Kevin Anderson. Khachanov is running Kevin all over the court. I hope he beats him. I cant stand Kevin Anderson anymore. Khachanov just won the first set.

Venus is creaming Konta in the second set. I don’t want to jinx it given that Venus surrendered a 5-0 lead yesterday, but it’s looking good atm.

    EDIT: Venus won the 2nd.

I flove Steve Weissman and just loathe Justin.....I had to LOL at how Justin was saying he wasn't confrontational in on and off court.....he just blocks people he doesn't agree with on social media. He is a true ass of a person/human being. Justin kept jabbing Steve and asking who he had gone with on that great vacation he was mentioning. Steve kept avoiding/turning the topic to something else but Justin kept hammering him about it until he finally dropped it. Tracy and Lindsay are great friends with Justin.....they kiss his behind and worship the ground he walks on.

I thought for sure Kok was going to win and let the whole that's my fuckin father battle with Verdasco get to him. Verdasco has gotten on my nerves. He has been a big complainer as of late. He is usually just a spoiler in matches and loses next round. He knows his career is almost up so he knows these small openings are his last chance to do something. Thus his angry outbursts on the court over almost anything.

Steve called Justin a liar, and it wasn’t a “haha” moment. It felt edgy and uncomfortable. So weird.

Viewers pointed out the tension and Justin responded:

Verdasco has been whiny for a long while. It’s not a good look.

  9. Speaking of which, Justin Gimelstob and Steve Weissman seemed to be sniping at each other during the Kokkinakis/Verdasco match. Was that just very dry light-hearted banter or is there some animosity there? There are times when Tracy Austin appears clearly annoyed with Steve.

Haha Nick deleted this tweet before Verdasco won:
