I've been recommended his works for ages, and this is the book they had at Chapters when I went on whim. I'm enjoying it so far.

There was a BBC adaptation a few years ago with Dan Stevens and Hayley Atwell that’s worth checking out.

  2. THIEM!

Let’s see if he can hold things together unlike last year in Rome. He’s never beaten Kevin Anderson, but of course they’ve never played on clay, Thiem’s best surface.

Nadal has always been most vulnerable on the Madrid/Rome swing, peaking at Roland Garros.

  3. Whoa. Kvitova took Kasatkina out to slaughter. Good semi matchups with Kvitova/Pliskova and Garcia/Bertens.

The men’s matchups for the quarters look fun too. Nadal/Thiem. A Miami rematch between Sascha and Isner. A young gun battle between rivals Shapovalov and Edmund. The only one not as interesting is Anderson and Lajović.

  4. I was just about to give Mladenovic props for going hard against Sharapova. And then she surrenders a 3-1 lead and let’s Maria walk all over her. Pathetic. Hopefully Bertens gets in that ass tomorrow.

I don’t even know what to say about Novak. He basically gave that match away. Sometimes it looks like he’s hungry and then he turns on a dime and looks completely apathetic. Makes it very hard to be a fan, so I might just pass on his matches until he can string together some convincing wins.

The men's matches are going to be better.

Grigor loses another one he shouldn't have to Raonic. He will never live up to the hype. It is so sad.

You think? The only men’s match I’m anticipating is Djokovic/Edmund. The others feel sort of meh for me, at least in the matches tomorrow and the R-16 matches already set.

Grigor is just so streaky. He won Cincinnati and the YE and has just fallen apart.

  6. Lots of popcorn matches here.

Maria vs Kiki or Maria vs Wozniacki would be delicious for their drama potential, although I hope Kiki takes care of business. Bertens will be tricky for Caroline.

  7. Agree with Nancy Curlee. To me, her GL was almost perfect soap for a good stretch. Springfield under her pen really felt like a community where no one eclipsed anyone else. Balanced storytelling that nothing after could possibly live up to.

Bill Bell. A total master of tension, tone, pacing, psychology, and payoffs. Y&R circa 1991-92 is just about as good as entertainment gets.

Claire Labine. Sometimes awkward with broad comedy (Foster/Annabelle, turning Lucy into a super-annoying ditz, Todd and the parrot, May Merisi), but she did deeply intelligent, moving, and adult drama like no one else. Responsible for the most elegant dialogue I’ve heard on daytime. Those actors were truly blessed to speak her words.

Kyle wins the doubles after losing to Sousa in the QFs

Kyle and Stefanos took Sousa to three sets and should've beaten him. I like/use to like Sousa until I heard about him fixing matches. He is a cheat....he tanks matches....

Gasquet beat Berdych today in Madrid in the first round. Berdych should just retire already.

    Tomorrow.....Novak vs Kei first round:o

That’s going to be tough to watch. My two favorite players. Not even going to venture a guess as to who’ll win.

Taro Daniel wins his first title in Istanbul!

Didn’t know that about Sousa. Did he get cited for match fixing?

Madison Keys lost in the first round in Madrid. Osaka and Ostapenko also out.

And Tiafoe loses...not surprised. I guess Sousa only shows up in his home tournament because the rest of the season he sucks. Stefanos Tsitsipas should've beaten Sousa and won the tournament. Tsitsipas is looking good and on the rise.

Sousa was lucky to have that insurance break in the second set after failing to serve it out at 5-2. Playing at home can be a double-edged sword as we’ve seen with other players who can’t get it together at home tournaments.

It was a good week for Frances. A lot he can build on and learn from.

  10. Wow at Tiafoe. He just might win his second ATP title tomorrow (while the more hyped Fritz and Donaldson have yet to win their maiden titles on the main tour). Dominating a player as crafty as PCB on clay is no small accomplishment. He may have unorthodox strokes, but they’re effective.

Is Don Diamont still on whatever CBS soap he was on (Y & R I think...never watched)? I just saw him get eliminated from the Italian version of Dancing With The Stars (Ballando Con Le Stelle).

A few weeks ago I saw Katherine Kelly Lang on an Italian talk show, The Mauricio Costanza Show.

I know those soaps are big in Italy.

    He’s on B&B now.

    And... yikes.
