And then you had Justus who didn’t want to be morally gray like a Q, but who also had all that ambition and drive.

Loved Justus. He was so unapologetically prideful and political and smart and unwilling to bow or defer to Tracy or anybody. He had such a modern-day Sidney Poitier vibe. He absolutely should have gone to war with Ned/Tracy for his rightful place in the Quartermaine family. I will never forgive GH for destroying him. But again, the Quartermaines themselves were greatly diminished post-Labine.

    Losing Rosalind Cash

Can’t say it enough, but f*ck cancer. Losing RC and Madge Sinclair within months to that dreaded disease...

That was something I had completely blocked out and now remember.

The way the Ward history unfolded on GH was really well plotted.  From Laura and Luke buying their old house (that they squatted in when they first got back to town and Laura fell in love with) and finding the remains to the reveal about Mary Mae and Edward Quartermaine’s affair.  It was such a well laid out story with all these little beats that ended up connecting down the line.  But back then there was no way I would have bought this story with Edward Lewis still playing EQ, and I loved him.  John Ingle really helped sell that story and Edward’s part in it.

The Ward family (and their integration with the Quartermaines) had the potential to be the most groundbreaking, multidimensional black family in soap history. On GH of all shows! Certainly Rosalind Cash’s untimely death didn’t help their prospects, but that potential began and ended with Claire Labine. Sad.

Michael Logan loves that Greta Garbo of daytime line.  He used it here and in his interview with Beverlee.

I like a lot of Deas work that I have seen on YouTube.  He was adorable as Tom Hughes and in Ryan’s Hope.  But Buzz is a drag.

I know a lot of people disagree, but I thought he and Robin Mattson were wonderful together as schemers on Santa Barbara, even with his mugging. (From clips I’ve seen.) But he also had the benefit of better, wittier dialogue and a roguish, devious character on SB. He was also good as an adversary to A Martinez.
