    That was painful to watch.

The actress who plays Zoe is lucky to be on the show when she is, because they needed "black presence" on this show. Otherwise, her ass would've been written off a long time ago.

I missed the episode(s) explaining Zende's break-up with Nicole, but he's basically a blank slate new character with no ties to the past.

They should have simply brought back the Avants. At least there’s built-in history there if they’d chosen to reintroduce Zende. And Obba Babatunde’s appearance would have made sense.

  2. Abby’s such an idiot. Elena told her that seeing Chance would put him at a risk of infection, and she rushes in to see him? Just thinking of people who can’t see hospitalized relatives due to COVID...and Y&R is playing that sh!t like it’s cute and romantic. Tone-deaf.

Is Lola being phased out? It does seem like Sally might vie with Summer for Kyle, which wouldn’t leave Lola with much to do.

  3. Maybe I was young, but I thought CLB was very convincing as a short-term violent heterosexual harasser in the early ‘90s. It’s just when he was reformed and settled into playing Michael Baldwin (and maybe more of a reflection of his dandyish self) that he became less convincing. (I hate that they moved the edit button lol.)

Speaking of people who are off their chain:

Those poor citizens of Kentucky - stuck with both him and McConnell as senators. What could be worse? 😠

The handling of this in much of the South is sad to watch, especially with all of the vulnerable people living in poverty down there. Mississippi is where most of my family lives, and I’m scared for them. So many politicians are willing to sacrifice their citizens for power.

  5. I enjoyed the SLC premiere a lot more than I thought I would, but I’m not sure it hooked me. There’s something about the dynamics of the HW franchise that feels stale to me, so much so that even different iterations and new locations don’t really freshen it up. I’m already invested in Potomac, NYC, and ATL. I’m not sure I’m motivated to embark on another journey. As always, I’ll monitor this thread to see what others think.

I do think Mary is fascinating. She does really feel like an amalgamation of all the housewives people have mentioned (Nene, Ramona, et al), but comes across as totally unique. Plus, a Pentecostal pastor? She might be enough for me to stay engaged. Not really feeling Jen. I feel like we’ve seen that type before many, many times.

Justin Deas (ex-Bucky, RH; ex-Tom, ATWT; ex-Keith, SANTA BARBARA; ex-Buzz, GL) is extremely unpopular around here.  Yet, I could watch him do just about anything.

I think Michael Logan called him daytime’s Pacino, which... ok, but I think JD is prodigiously talented but also prone to bombastic self-parody in a similar way. But when he’s in the zone, I don’t think there are many, if indeed any, who are better. And he could be damn sexy.

  7. Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, Y&R) - I think Chelsea is a terribly written character who could leave Genoa City without notice, but MCE is a genuinely good actress. We’ve seen many many many strong actors felled by weak characters (Sarah Brown, anyone), and even Saoirse Ronan couldn’t save Chelsea.

Freddie Smith (Sonny, DAYS) - No doubt he got lazy the last few years, but I think he’s talented.

  8. I actually think this is a decently fair distribution, at least on paper.

In terms of form, Medvedev and Zverev could really trouble Novak if they are serving well, which they have been lately. I’m sure Novak would prefer Rafa’s group atm.
