Also, in these pics, Ruth makes a housedress and cardigan look comfortable, but achieving that hairdo seems like a painful amount of backcombing.

Mary Fickett looks like a giant next to Rosemary Prinz.

She wouldn’t become HW until the Spring of 1992, her first major plot being the “Who Killed Will?” murder mystery (which received widespread acclaim in the soap press).

I seem to recall recently that James Patrick Stuart gave Agnes Nixon credit for the Who Killed Will storyline.

  3. RIP Ray. He was a fine actor and All My Children was lucky to have him.

Slightly-off topic, I remember a Michael Logan written article from years back that said Ray was the second highest paid actor on the show (after Susan Lucci). The article was circa 2009-ish around the time all the budget cut talk was happening to save the show. I don't even know how being the second highest paid would be possible for how little he was featured, unless he had a very old contract with iron-clad stipulations.

In our current times, mistaking one black actress for another is tone deaf and gross. I think fan outrage was the only reason they responded.

Agree, that was much worse than this faux pas.

Body and Soul is a terrible title, but so is Manhattan Lives. Isn't it kind of a known fact that daytime soaps named after a location never last? Compared though, Manhattan Lives does sound better. I why it never came to pass. Has Deidre Hall ever been interviewed about it?

Is it Lives (rhymes with hives) or Lives (rhymes with gives)?

A DAILY soap opera depicting the lifestyles of the black community is under development by O.J. Simpson's Orenthal Productions and Ralph Edwards Productions in association with Columbia Pictures TV. The serial, called Heart and Soul, is being developed for syndication. It will revolve around the music industry and will feature original music produced in stereo. Stephen Karpf, Elinor Karpf and Jason Karpf, whose previous credits include the daytime soaps General Hospital and Capitol, will serve as head writers and producers on the drama.

Wait. OJ was going in the soap business? 🙄

So his soap wasn't picked up so instead he decided to hog up the daytime airwaves with his murder trial?

I ran pass this short clip with Anne and Paul from 1977. And Constance McCashion makes a cameo. I have to see more of this era.

Great find. I always thought they should have brought back Paul.

Do you remember 1994, at Erica’s trial for the “attempted murder” of Dimitri??.....

Right after Kendall commits perjury on the witness stand  by saying she NEVER told Erica that Dimitri had raped her (the catalyst for Erica going crazy and hallucinating Dimitri as Richard Fields, stabbing him with the letter opener).....

ERICA: “She is LYING!! She is LYING!! She is nothing but a lying BITCH!!”

YUP! I remember it like yesterday and I felt in my bones she was about to call her a B-I-T-C-H.

I mean come on! This clip always makes me smile. These are the episodes Susan Lucci should have submitted for the Emmys.

Incidentally, during the E! reunion show, Eva La Rue said that back in the day the show was only allowed to use the word "bitch" in the scripts twice a year and said they were always given to Susan. Rightfully so.

Erica must contend with a bunch of annoying industry cokeheads during her Manhattan penthouse cocktail party.... meanwhile, bitchy gossip columnist Audrey “Bloodhound” Wilson drops in unannounced!!

Erica and Mark had such a great sister-brother relationship. It's a shame that Mark wasn't featured more in the last decade of the show. Erica really needed a family member around besides her bratty daughters.

That's Jeffrey Byron as one of the 80's Jeff Martins.

Wow, so that is fetus boy's dad? I thought that was one of Tom's buddies. ETA: Just Googled him and discovered he is Anna Lee's son.

To this day I don't know WTF happened with Esta and Gillian in the final months of the network show. Her return, like all the others, was heavily hyped and promoted. But in the final air shows, Esta appears for maybe 90 seconds, maybe a little more, maybe a little less and has a max of maybe three to five lines. She appears considerably less than any of the other undead or ghost characters who returned that summer in 2011. It looked to me a lot like they'd cut huge swaths of any material she shot - like Josh Duhamel, where I believe Leo was supposed to actually be alive and reunite with Greenlee in the original plan which supposedly may have actually been filmed, until Prospect Park first stepped in, they thought they were going online right then and didn't want to write permanent happy endings for Greenlee or Ryan with other people to write them out bc they didn't know if Budig and Cameron would sign onto the new show. So then Leo's appearance became a dream and they cut the rest of his material. I've long wondered if that is what happened with Esta/Gillian and Ryan as well.

Yeah I believe everyone was going to get a happy ending with their soulmate.

I remember that Ghost Gillian story. It went on for awhile and I wasn't sure where they intended to go with it at first given that she was getting a lot of airtime for a woman who had been shot in the head and was braindead.

The entire storyline where Gillian is murdered by a reality TV show producer who is actually an assassin was part of a period with Passanante that was the nadir of AMC for me, apart from early 2003 where Rayfield/Cascio were doing Frons' bidding and turning the show into something completely unrecognizable. Everything about "IncredibleDreams.com", that reality show, Alex's spy underworld, etc. was so embarrassingly stupid.

  13. I think the E! reunion came together like this:

"Who from the All My Children cast lives in LA?" and "Jacob is in town? Ok, let's book him too."

Yes, I agree it's a random group of people, but I'm sure they made it work.
