  1. Oh gosh, that was my least favorite opening. That was during the Brian Frons era and he had all the ABC soaps shoot their openings using one agency and it was a generic mess. The whole ABC lineup lost its uniqueness when they converted to these openings with the same lighting and backdrops. All My Children had the best of the worst openings because they incorporated the photo album but OLTL and GH was ringarde!

    RIP Robert Gentry.

Ross Chandler was, along with Ed Bauer, probably his defining role in daytime, and certainly a very rich part. I can see why AMC tried to keep him around after the rape story, much as that was a mistake. It's a strong story that has held up well but I wonder if they ever had any regrets. Was Ross ever mentioned after he left?

I think Ross was mentioned here and there in passing. I wish they had brought Ross back to the canvas. He had ties to several families. I thought it would have been interesting, and maybe controversial, to pair him with Erica.

I still have this episode on tape somewhere, my high school friend set the VCR for me that morning. Susan and Joan Rivers were friends, Joan must’ve gifted Susan that costume jewelry from her line.

I loved how Live! would have soap stars on. I kind of feared that nobody at home other than a select few of us knew who the hell they were, but that was pretty naive given the targeted daytime audience. Some soap actors I remember appearing on the show: Ruth Warrick, Julia Barr, Robin Strasser, Linda Dano, Erika Slezak, Jacklyn Zeman, Rudolf Martin…

Yes, soaps were a big part of daytime way back when so it was always nice to see soap actors appear on talk shows. These days, outside of The Talk cross promoting their soap lineup and Kelly having one of her friends like Finola on, it's rare to see soap stars as talk show guests.

Peacock's failure starts with its name, then how it was rolled out. Peacock is a brand only recognized by TV fanatics in that it is the mascot of NBC (the Peacock network).

The service needs to be rebranded. Either call it Universal+ or Comcast+.

I disagree with you on the name. Peacock is a lot more interesting, and conveys that it is part of the NBC family. Anything + sounds unoriginal. It reminds me of all the talk shows that start with the word THE. The View, The Talk, The Chew, The Revolution, The Real. It drives me insane.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 True! NINA was so sheltered by Palmer to turn out to be quite the little Slut!

Nina was one of the original HOs of Pine Valley! (Ahh remember when we all used to call out all the hos in our Daily All My Children threads? Those were the days.)

Well, she never would have been a model so you have to start at an opening point where she is disappointed to begin. Then, where do you go? Because she's simply too short. She'd never have any modeling jobs. wouldn't even have anyone to rep her; the only way she's a model is Fantasy Island! So, AMC. She could have been a famous winning jockey! Maybe if she loved horses? I couldn't believe Esta said she had 8 horses.

Erica as a jockey would have been hilarious. I can just see Susan rocking those silks.

No, they sold their Hamptons house about 6 years ago for $20 million.

They’ve always lived full time in Garden City on Long Island - the same town Susan grew up in.

I don’t think that sale of the house in Quogue went through because it was back on the market a couple of years later. I’m not sure. I first saw the house featured in Episodes magazine years and years ago. Here’s a more recent video:

It actually did sell in 2016 after 2 years on the market. She got that $19.9M. #Lucky19.

  8. I was thinking about Susan the last few weeks because she has been very quiet on Instagram. She usually posts a few times a week. Now it makes sense. Last year she lost her mother and now Helmut. I hope Susan can lean on her family and friends during this difficult time.

Suddenly I am a Phoebe-stan and anti-Mona, I mean Erica didn't become brat out of thin air, and Mona's past on the cabaret circuit was always a bit suspicious.  Phoebe left her proverbial cards on the table, whereas Mona was hiding a secret in order to bag the big bucks from Dr. Tyler.

Wow, you totally flipped this on its head. It reminds me of this video which was the inspiration for Cobra Kai. Mona is the real bully in this case.
