And if I was an Actor, when I won awards I would give shoutouts to all the greats in daytime.

I think you'd forget all the "little people" who helped you along the way and only thank your agent. 😜

  2. I'm hopeful. Andrew Stearn had other studio offers but chose ABC because of the opportunity to reboot All My Children. Whether the opportunity will lead to something tangible, remains to be seen. But he seems passionate to make this happen. And only a diehard, respectful fan of the show's history would go out of his way to enlist the help of Agnes's son. He didn't have to do that, but he did.

  3. I watched the first two episodes and I was a little disappointed. I don't think the show was able to strike the right balance between comedy and drama the way that it did so brilliantly as SATC. Obviously, the circumstances that unfolded in the first two episodes dictated the overall tone. However, I was wanting more haha moments. Also, I think the show needs to add back in Carrie's voiceover to tie in all the scenes. Carrie's VO as a storytelling device would provide character depth.

They never did a DNA test?! 90s and 2000s daytime was all about damn DNA tests. I'm shocked.

I really need to read that book.

I, too, assumed a DNA test had been performed.  Honestly, if ever a DNA test *needed* to be performed on any soap, that was the time!

No there was never a DNA test! We've talked about it in this thread a few hundred pages ago!

  5. The show seemed to ignore Josh's existence once they (Zach) killed off Josh, so as a viewer I ignored Josh too and pretend he never happened. I was hoping that when Kay Alden was consulting for ABC that she would have re-written the unabortion. There was an interview she did where Kay says that she would have reversed it but thought a DNA test was done (which actually did not happen, so it could have been reversed, but even if a DNA test was done it could have been explained away).

Guys I want to start watching the show. I really wanna ask you for a favour... if you could recommend for me a period that I should start watching. I would prefer something that I can find on youtube or on the internet. Thank you so much.

    I've never watched it.

The 1980s. I recommend the storylines involving the introduction of the Cortlandts (which include Cliff and Nina), Erica as a model in NYC, and Jenny/Greg and Angie/Jesse as the teenage couples.

Bored, so looked up a few possibilities for a new or temp Jason, with possible permanent or temp out Steve Burton,  Sean Carrigan (ex Ben "Stitch" Rayburn, Y&R 47), Shawn Christian(ex-Daniel Jonas, DAYS, ex-Mike Kasnoff, ATWT,et al, 55), Brian Gaskill (ex-Rafe Kovitch, PC/GH, ex-Bobby Warner, AMC, 51), Scott DeFrietas (ex-Andy Dixon, ATWT, 51), Kyle Lowder(ex-Rex Brady Brady Black, Gh, ex-Rick Forrester, B& B, 41), or Billy Miller (exDrew Cain, formerly was Jason), 42    I  would choose Gaskill or Carrigan, maybe DeFrietas.

Brian Gaskill is the Ted McGinley of daytime. You don't want him anywhere near GH or it'll get the ax.

The show was actually making plans to replace Ruth Warrick as Phoebe.   Haila Stoddard (whose step-daughter was then or had been on A World Apart) was the actress who was nearly hired as her replacement.

That’s interesting. Never heard that. Was this during the time Ruth was seldom seen? Early 2000s?

So I have never seen the title of Executive Head Writer before. I assume this means Nixon was able to focus on other things and wasn't techinically HW'ing the show, but kept an eye on the show and could maybe over rule any decisions McTavish made? Is it generally assumed McTavish's first run was heavily monitored by Nixon?

Basically. But what I could never understand is the reason for not listing Agnes Nixon's name in the writers' section of the end credits during this period when she was "Executive Head Writer." Her name only appeared under "Created By."

When Agnes came back full time as head writer in the mid- 1990s with Elizabeth Page and Jean Passanante, Agnes's name appeared again in the writers section of the end credits.

I think you hit on another aspect of the show and it's relationship with Erica here too. Erica always had to have the last word and ultimately win in all of her arguments, or 'takedown' scenes, which smacked of everyone else who ever opposed her just being 'jealous of her', after awhile that just became grating.

I don't recall Erica winning every argument. Brooke more than once got the best of Erica. The same with Maria and Natalie.
