  1. I agree. Dani isn't Erica Kane. There's only one. 😁 Yes, I agree, Dani has mental health issues.
  2. I'm not noticing anything major from a production standpoint. Maybe it's because Steve Williford directed two of the three episodes, and I'm already familiar with his work on All My Children. The one thing that stands out to me is how FaceTime scenes are edited—using a side-by-side layout within an iPhone template. It’s not the way I would approach it, but that’s just a matter of personal preference.
  3. If the Dupree family is at the heart of this show and it's expected to last for decades—10, 20, even 30 years—someone must continue the Dupree name. But with only two daughters, how is that possible? There must be a long-lost son out there.
  4. The theme music isn’t very memorable—I’m hoping there’s another version or a bridge section that stands out more. For me, Faces of the Heart remains one of the best soap themes. I also liked All My Children's original theme, as well as the "falling pictures" theme by Billy Barber during the years Felicia Minei Behr executive produced (not the guitar riff version during the Julie Carruthers years).
  5. I like Derek! It will be interesting to see how long "Best of My Love" was cleared for. My guess is one year, after which the music will likely be replaced in the archive due to the high cost of commercial music.
  6. Strong start! So far, Daphnée Duplaix is my favorite. Her acting feels effortless, and her character, while seemingly perfect, is bound to experience the most turmoil ahead—which makes me even more invested! Karla Mosley’s performance is just ok. I’d love to see more depth to Dani beyond just anger, even though it’s understandable. Exploring other layers, which I know is coming, would make her character more compelling. As for Ben Gavin and Jen Jacob, I didn’t mind them or their characters. They came across as cute and wholesome—but we all know that won’t last, right? LOL.
  7. OMG, so if Dick Van Dyke had been under contract and this category existed last year, he would have qualified as "emerging talent?" LOL, that would have been wild!
  8. Oh my, I absolutely loved this storyline! It had some gothic tones, which I always enjoyed whenever All My Children incorporated them. I also appreciated that Erica's scars were never shown beneath the mask—whenever David dressed her wounds, the audience never got to see them. That added a great sense of mystery to the story.
  9. I had no idea Jon and Cady had separated. When I first started reading this article, I thought, "Oh, how nice—they're married and now working on the same show again."
  10. Thanks! ABC, if you're reading this, I'm available for hire and ready to bring this show back to life! LOL!
  11. That’s an interesting question. I think David was one of Erica’s best pairings, and the chemistry between Vincent Irizarry and Susan Lucci was undeniable. I would have definitely revisited that dynamic, especially since Lorraine Broderick seemed to explore it toward the end. I also would have brought back Mark Dalton, Ellen, and Julie to give Erica more family beyond her children. Another idea: While Erica was a "Kane," I always wished we had learned more about Mona’s side of the family. Introducing a relative from Mona’s lineage could have added an intriguing new dimension to Erica’s story. As for Caleb, I thought he was a complete misfire. If the show wanted to bring a Cortlandt back onto the canvas, it should have been Ross. Pairing him with Erica would have been compelling—controversial, but intriguing. I know Ross was a convicted rapist, but that could have created a complex, layered dynamic, especially since Erica was a rape survivor herself. It might be a bit dark, but watching Erica confront that, along with her own past, could have made for powerful storytelling. Adding Ellen and Mark—both of whom had history with Ross—into the mix would have made the storyline even messier and more dramatic. Erica was often at her best when she had a strong female rival, so I would have put her and Brooke’s rivalry front and center again.
  12. Yeah, I can see that. The show went through a revolving door of mediocre head writers, which led to some weak storylines for Erica. I wish Lorraine Broderick had returned sooner to give Erica the stronger stories she deserved.
  13. In my opinion, Erica is meant to be immature and insecure, so if she had matured to the same level as Mona or Myrtle, it would have made her character much less compelling.
  14. LOL, this made me laugh! How can I say this without spoiling anything… Hmm… So you’re watching 1989? Well, you’ve got 22 more years of Erica and Jackson ahead—talk about a slow burn! 😂 Enjoy!
  15. Love this! Thanks for sharing 🫶
  16. Correct. This is early in the calendar year.
  17. Can someone help me remember? I was watching a scene where Jeremy and Silver returned from skiing and stopped by Ruth and Joe's house. How did Silver become close to Ruth and Joe? Was it simply because they were the elder statesmen of Pine Valley, or was there another connection? It seemed random to me.
  18. I was the one who brought up Wisner, Megan, and Lorraine—how dare you forget! Triple slaps Eric, Erica Kane-style.
  19. There were definitely some backstage politics at play. According to soap magazines at the time, Agnes was promoted to "Executive Head Writer," while Megan became "Head Writer." However, Agnes remained uncredited in her new role, which was unusual. Meanwhile, Megan gave interviews to the soap press, claiming she had been driving the show's storylines even before her official promotion. It seems there may have been differing opinions between ABC Daytime executives and Agnes regarding the show's direction. Regardless, on the surface it seemed things worked out at least in the short term—All My Children won its first Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, thanks to the Terrance Frye episode, where he was beaten in Tom's gym. I'd really like to know whose idea was it to bring Janet onto the canvas. Was that Megan? Agnes? Lorraine most recently said that the Who Killed Will storyline was not hers (I think she was at GL at this point).
  20. I re-watched the panel on YouTube and realized I missed this part. At one point, the panelists were whispering to each other. Kelly quietly mentioned some names to Susan, who then moved the microphone behind her so no one could hear and she responded with an "Oh yes." Were they possibly talking about Kate Collins and James Kiberd?
  21. I don't think it was Patrick Mulcahey. I believe it was Agnes and Douglas Marland who co-created Loving. I don't know the reason for the falling out.
  22. You're saying I can't start the daily All My Children threads anymore? 😂
  23. This interview is a year old but I just stumbled upon it. Susan Lucci interview on Alex Baldwin’s podcast. https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-heres-the-thing-with-alec-23562128/episode/susan-lucci-wins-it-all-144920026/
  24. I watched the 92NY panel event, and I really wish they had allocated 90 minutes instead of just 60. There was so much more the panelists could have shared. I especially wanted to hear more from Lorraine and learn more about the alternate ending. I wish Andy had asked for details on that. If I remember correctly, there was speculation that all the couples might get their happy endings, like Gillian and Ryan and Leo and Greenlee. Instead, Gillian and Leo ended up as figments of their true love’s imagination. Eva La Rue was schedule to be part of the panel. I wonder if the LA fires prevented her from flying out. Jennifer Bassey wasn’t originally in the lineup but it was nice to see her. She’s still sharp as a tack and saucy as ever! I was also hoping to hear the inevitable question that always gets asked… “Will the show return?” But the question wasn’t asked, unfortunately. Also, Bob Nixon, Agnes’s son, was in the audience, as was Bill Christian (Derek Frye), and Ray MacDonnell’s daughter, and Sandy Gabriel who played Edna Thornton.
