  3. This reminds me of an old interview with Kelly Ripa where she said Grant Aleksander was her favorite co-star to work with aside from her husband. I was kind of surprised by this given that they didn't have the best story together and given GA's troubled past with getting along with co-stars.
  4. TV Guide From August 1997: HE'S DOWN BUT NOT OUT By Michael Logan Here's one of the wilder soap developments in memory: Guiding Light's Michael Zaslow (Roger), who has been kept off the show for months due to a debilitating undiagnosed illness, has been making plans to return to work--in his old role on One Life to Live! But fans of the beloved, Emmy-winning star shouldn't get excited. Just as OLTL was expecting Zaslow's name on the dotted line, his agents nixed the gig. Zaslow caused the GL audience great concern early this year when he began to show signs of trouble -- weight loss, slurred speech, and facial dis-figurement that suggested he may have suffered a stroke. For weeks he gamely remained in the role as doctors put him through a variety of tests, but his continued deterioration became impossible to overlook. In April, GL's production company, Procter & Gamble, asked him to take a 13-week hiatus to focus on getting better. They replaced him with soap vet Dennis Parlato, announcing to the press that they fully expected Zaslow to return. Though neither Zaslow nor his agents will comment, the star is report-edly furious with P&G and is claiming he was fired. On June 23, he filed a grievance with his union, the American Fed-eration of Television & Radio Artists. We did not fire him," says P&G day-time chief Mickey Dwyer-Dobbin. "We asked him to take a sabbatical and, dur-ing this time, we have been paying him a small stipend." She says that Zaslow asked to have his disability written into the show. But Dwyer-Dobbin says: "Roger is a powerful, active, sexual, multicolored villain. That's who we need him to be on the GL canvas. We do not need a wizened little old man. And that's what he would have to play in his condition. It really hurts me to have to say that, but all I can do is wish Michael all the best. My heart truly goes out to him." The actor, who may be gearing up for a whopper lawsuit and looking to prove that he's employable, sent word to OLTL that he is eager to work. On July 17, he met with the show's executive producer, Maxine Levin-son, and head writer, Claire Labine, who admits they were reduced to tears during the emotion-packed powwow. They offered him a three-day stint as David Renaldi, the character he played from 1983 - 86. (To explain Zaslow's condition, they planned to reveal that Renaldi had been injured in an avalanche.) Labine, who wanted Zaslow on-air September 1, says: "We were very moved by Michael's courage and forthrightness and his willingness to do this role." Adds Levinson: "He feels he can be inspiring, and we quite agree." Why Zaslow's agents killed the deal is a mystery. At one point they told OLTL they weren't sure if he is contractually free to take the job. But P&G has no objections. Says Dwyer-Dobbin: "We're not going to stop him if he wants to do this ."
  5. There could've been rewriting at this point, I have no idea, it sounds like it. Wasn't a fan of Corvina. I lost interest in the Marricks after their initial story with Helga/Hugo was over. She had shoulder length hair (as seen below about a minute until the clip) when she first came back but kept getting it cut. By that summer she had the really short hair, which I agree didn't do her any favors. I like the solemn one but I can see why they changed it to something more energetic.
  6. McTavishs' name still appears first in the first episode you posted. The second one doesn't have credits, though wiki says McTavish was replaced with Nixon sometime in April (don't know how reliable it is though). Edited: I looked up some closing credits around this time on youtube. The April 27, 1995 episode still lists McTavish but by the May 5, 1995 episode she is gone from the credits and Hal Corley is listed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiDx6A15kvY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEaA1EzeLtY

  8. Did you watch the July 1987 episode? I quite enjoyed that one as well as this one.
  9. AMC was in a transition/downhill stage sometime in the mid 80's but I felt Broderick's first headwriting stint started out really strong and 1987 was one of the best years of AMC. Sometime in '88 she lost her way as there became too many stories to follow, though I don't know if this was because of her or because of the writers strike, or maybe both.
  10. Didn't Adam reveal that they were still married from their first marriage? So would that make all of Adam and Erica's marriages within that time frame null?
  11. No problem. There's another full episode from 1993 someone posted last year:
  12. Have you tried HamiltonBernique's channel? He has some Erica/Mike in the episodes he's uploaded.
  13. Awesome, a new upload of an 80's episode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfLZb1FGAQY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwAioxwIXAo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFglzWKjOTU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xww6pykKhjE
  14. I liked the fact that Broderick had come up with something fresh: jaded, sophisticated, uninhibited Eurotrash who was basically decent. In contrast to all the ingenues (and born-again ingenues) roaming town, she was a breath of fresh air... cosmopolitan, multilingual, and a keen observer of and commentator on the behavior of others (Dimitri, Laura, Tad). She was arrestingly honest, funny, and sexy. Then, McTavish came to town and turned her, overnight, into a refugee from a bad British sex farce: the dippy, foreign bimbo. The worst part was realizing that it was actually the writer's intention to have Ryan be "the smart one" in the relationship.
  15. AMC on DVD? http://www.amazon.com/All-My-Children-1970-TVseries/dp/B001993Y5O/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1318687400&sr=8-8
  16. Random question, but does anyone know if Kate Martin's funeral was Hugh Franklin's (Charles Tyler) last appearance? I was surprised to see him looking at that clip on youtube, because other sites have citied he appeared until only 1983 because of hearing loss, but I assume that's when he just stopped being a regular and might've showed up every now and then?
  17. I believe Jenny and Opal had come onto the show that summer (summer of 1981). Around that time also was when Nina found out Daisy was her mother and Sean was arrested for the murder of Sybil. As for Nina being an exec, I'm not sure about others, but I thought it would make sense that after being daddy's little girl for so long that she would want something of her own. Broderick was promoted in 1987. I thought that was a good year for AMC. They reached number one the episode Julie found out about Ross raping Natalie and running away to NY. I thought the Natalie story with Palmer and Ross was pretty good, though I remember Kate Collins saying she thought it was silly that Natalie would hide Silver's body. This was also around the time the Cindy AIDS story started. 1988 is when things became a bit uneven, imo. Palmer and Mr U in jail was the start of a more silly, less ruthless Palmer, I think. I do remember the magazines saying they felt AMC had lost some of it's humor it was known for during Broderick's stint.
  18. You're not. I enjoyed it.
  19. Casey the Alien was before Monty came back, that was Joseph Hardy/Gene Palumbo
  20. Clip of Nancy Frangione's Tara about a minute into the clip
  21. IIRC, didn't Peter Bergman initally try out for a Jeff Martin recast?
  22. Michael Weatherly tried out for the part of Brian, Hayley's love interest, on AMC.
