Actually, Roman, I don't think he's saying anything at all to Trump. I mean, what COULD you say to him if you were in his inner circle after what just happened? You'd be either too white-hot with anger or too not-just-stunned-but-Blanche-Deveraux-stunned. That's probably the second or third Fox News pundit I've heard who couldn't believe it. I tell ya -- you lose Fox News, you lose America.

A retired Marine Corps general -- someone who is TRAINED to know how to comport himself whenever the fit hits the shan -- and even HE wasn't sure of WTF he was watching. That's the beauty of life under the Trump administration.

Not that they will, of course, but it'd be nice if Trump's team followed Carl's brilliant lead and say, "Look, we can't control him either." Just [!@#$%^&*] abandon this man altogether and leave him to howl into the night, where no one who's civil will listen or care.

IA -- and really, if they DO break from him, it'll only be because they recognize, however begrudgingly, that they just can't control him. In their heart of hearts, they probably agree with Trump more than they disagree with him. But there probably comes a point when they realize saving the party means more than remaining behind someone like him. Seriously, John McCain was right when he said (after he and Palin had lost) that the then-nascent far right was dangerous and unprecedented in the history of American politics. Meanwhile, how ironic is it that Arnold has stepped up and pledged money to the Wiesenthal Center? IIRC, wasn't he dogged for years with rumors that either he or his father had been a member of some white supremacist group?

Two reasons: one, they have to be careful not to leave themselves open to any lawsuits; and two, they don't want to admit that he IS a white supremacist, because they cling to the notion that everyone, even Donald F**king Trump, has a better side to his nature, a side that will ultimately win out over evil. They don't want to think that sometimes, no matter how hard you look for goodness in a person's soul, they just ain't got none.

Isn't his latest approval ratings, like, the lowest EVER for a sitting president? And that was before The Jawdrop Heard 'Round the World. The numbers might not keep falling, but they're certainly not gonna improve now!

I thought we had dismissed that part of the spy's dossier as baseless innuendo. Oh, you're talking about the press conference, aren't you? My bad. That's fine. We'll just get ourselves a new president and not tell him. It'll be like "The Emperor's New Administration."

It sho' was, wasn't it? Mm-hm. Looks like someone's just ready to bust out from under their hood. That's okay. We cool.

Eons ago. At least, I think I did. But I remember posting that video in reference to something or other in this thread and someone (marceline?) remarking how I just HAD to go there w/ the AMC/Erica Kane meltdown analogy. (And don't call me "bitch." I am not your "bitch." If you can't respect me enough to call me by my name, then don't call me at all.)

I did it first.

Hey, I didn't say he'd be successful, lol. I'm just saying, if it comes to that point, he won't go peacefully.

Nevertheless, I feel as if Trump might barricade himself inside the WH and refuse to resign or be impeached before we ever get to that point.

"The media still doesn't know the facts"? What the [!@#$%^&*] more is there to know? A Nazi sympathizer with a violent history drove his car into a group of counter-protesters on the street. One of them died. Seems pretty clear-cut to me, Donny! The more he tries to explain away his blatant racism and blame the media for something he, himself, failed to do, the deeper the pit he digs for himself. Welp. There ya go. He did EXACTLY what I said he'd do. He blamed the counter-protesters. It's like watching Y&R and seeing everyone blame Christine for having the nerve to get run down by Phyllis' car.

Frankly, I don't think the NR went far enough. I think ALL "monuments" to the Confederacy should be trashed, period. But I think this call is coming, because everyone (well, most everyone) agrees that no matter how each might feels about the damn things, they're not worth killing people over. Charlottesville was one Charlottesville too many. Geez, don't we have enough of those running around on Capitol Hill?

From the POLITICO article: “His statement today was more kumbaya nonsense,” [Richard] Spencer said. “Only a dumb person would take those lines seriously.” As much as it pains me to say it, I think he's right. I think you DO have to be dumb to take Trump's Monday statement seriously. Unfortunately, I think too many -- both in the media, and among Congress -- did take it seriously. They couldn't see (or, perhaps more appropriately, they didn't WANT to see) that his words on Monday rang just as false as the ones he spoke on Saturday.

It's nice to know we have SUCH a mature man running this country. But seriously. First, we had the video of someone with "CNN" superimposed over his face being body-slammed WWE-style. Now, this. This is like placing a target on the back of every man and woman who works for CNN. An open invitation, if you will, for kooks out there to take 'em out on sight. If I were Jeff Zucker, I'd get security detail for all my network's on-air personalities pronto. Oh, and by the way, Donald? We still haven't forgotten about Russia.
