Realism on Soap Operas
Absolutely! I think you can reflect the average viewer's reality and still be entertaining. If anything, by dramatizing their real-life, everyday problems, I think you can provide viewers with a sense that they're not alone and that, through perseverance and faith, they can work through their issues. I've been thinking a lot about that lately, as we continue to make sense of everything that's been happening around us in regards to COVID-19.

Melrose Place
I'll agree there was more crossover and character interaction during MP's earliest seasons; but, even then, I always had the impression that MP's characters never particularly LIKED each other. They just tolerated each other, because they all lived in the same apartment building (which is fine in real life, but not fun to watch on a soap).

Agree. But, will they bring back Justin Gaston, or will they find someone new? Personally, I'd bring back Gaston, even if he isn't much of a performer. But, on the other hand, it'd be nice to see Y&R try and find someone GOOD for the role, lol.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
First, we had people ignoring the danger (or worse, believing Trump's assessment that the virus would simply disappear); and now, we have people trying every which way they can to jump ahead in the line for the vaccine. COVID-19 has shown to the rest of the world just how ignorant and dangerous Americans can truly be.

YR: You're Fired! Actor out ...
Pretty much. It's one thing to be a conservative who supports our former president, but Boaz's views were engendering too much controversy among online fans at a time when these shows want to be as uncontroversial as possible. Moreover, Boaz had proven himself to be a risk to his co-workers by refusing to wear masks (again, because of his political views) and contracting the virus. Who's to say he learned his lesson after getting sick? Who's to say he wouldn't catch it again, especially if he still refuses to "mask up"? And if he were to catch it again, who's to say he wouldn't spread it to anyone else (if he didn't spread it the first time) and cause Y&R's set to become one, giant superspreader? In the end, I think TPTB just decided he wasn't worth the aggravation. So, up to the attic, he goes.

I think TPTB told Donny Boaz they weren't renewing his contract due to COVID costs, because saying why they REALLY let him go could leave themselves open for a lawsuit.

I'm trying to remember if it was Marc or Larry who appeared a couple of times as a police officer on "The Facts of Life" during the "Edna's Edibles" era.

The Politics Thread
Why do I feel like stories such as this are designed to make me feel bad for folks who have only themselves to blame? It isn't as if no one had any clue as to who MTG was or what she was about before she was elected. All you had to do was take a glance at her social media accounts to know she was a total loon. Yet, GOP voters in GA decided she was the one for them; and now, they're having voters' remorse? Again, why should I feel sorry for them and their idiotic decisions? You made your bed, as Erica Kane once said, now writhe in it!

I'm convinced Josh Griffith has no [!@#$%^&*] clue what to do w/ ANY character on Y&R.

And -- let's be honest, folks -- Justin Gaston wasn't all that great either. But, he was damn better than Donny Boaz, and that's saying something.

Yeah, Trump's gonna be acquitted, so why should he bother hiring GOOD lawyers to defend him?

YR: You're Fired! Actor out ...
All the time! I really don't care why he was fired. He was a repulsive actor, playing a character who HAD potential, but now has been tied down (for the moment) to Abby. So, good riddance.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
This is pretty much what I've been saying since late last year. People who think this [!@#$%^&*] will be over and done with by Christmas (2021) are being overly optimistic. If we aren't still wearing masks and social distancing by this time next year, it'll be a miracle.

Non-Hollywood Sexual Assault & Sexual Harassment
The Lincoln Project was suing Rudy -- so, of course, the "liberal" NYT had to find a way to discredit them. Not that I think that these people are lying about John Weaver, or that the NYT should have covered up the allegations. I just suspect the NYT went out of its' way to find SOMETHING on the organization in order to turn their Democratic supporters against them and managed to hit paydirt.

Days: A Horton Returns
I don't think it's that they HATE her so much as it's that HER Laura is so different from Susan Flannery's that it might as well be a different character. Then again, Laura herself went through so much when she came apart psychologically, and I can't see Flannery playing THAT storyline either.

I will say that Brooke's departure is one of the few things I love about the show. One of the VERY few.
