  1. I can't remember: did we learn that Jim Thomason was a kiddie pornographer and THEN we learned he was also responsible for the plane crash? Or was it the other way around?
  2. I'd settle for her healing one of the attendees of their rheumatism.
  3. That's what happens, I guess, when you have more conglomerates on your show than actual characters.
  4. Better yet, just move it to the Pheasant streaming service.
  5. Really? I didn't know! Thanks!
  6. YES!!! Listen, I've spent a lifetime watching shows - daytime, primetime and everywhere else - that offered little-to-no representation for POC, so I'm used to it. Yes, I know how wrong it is for me to say as much "out loud," but IDC either way if a particular series or movie has no POC among its' cast members. I don't need to see myself on a TV or movie screen to know whether H'wood sees me or others like me because, frankly, my dear, I don't care if H'wood EVER sees me. I exist, I KNOW I exist, and that's enough for me. Now, having said that, I also believe that if you're going to commit openly to diversity, equity and inclusion, then, for God's sake, COMMIT. And that applies even to a hoary, old soap opera that's currently being run by someone whose idea of soul music is Jophielle Love. Don't post some lip-service junk on IG about how committed you are to diversity while you're filming your most popular African-American actress from two counties away. Bring back Tommy Hardy Jr.! Bring back Maya and Angela* and all dem other Wards! And bring on more Black doctors, too! Rename the hospital the James Earl Jones-Cicely Tyson Medical Center, if that's what it takes to put them all front-and-center and in storylines that can't be lifted entirely out of episodes like a Lena Horne number in an MGM musical, with no effect on the rest of the canvas whatsoever. Whatever you do, GH, to make your show more reflective of everyday life in 2024, just do it right. (*That's what I'm naming the phantom sister: Angela Ward. In honor of the late, great Angela Bofill.)
  7. But probably an act that didn't need to be balanced if GH had MORE. BLACK. DOCTORS. on their show. IJS.
  8. Jesus must've told Marcy she wouldn't go to hell if she met with fans and talked about her days on that sinful soap opera.
  9. Except, as I think @Darn pointed out, it was bad optics to have Kevin "whitesplaining" the reason behind Marshall's misdiagnosis. On the one hand, I do believe the networks and others have become very skittish about delving too deeply into certain topics. But, on the other hand, I also believe viewers - and viewers from marginalized and under-represented groups, in particular - have acquired more skill in using the internet and social media as a means of protest, so that even if TPTB choose to shy away from something out of concern that it might challenge the conservative beliefs of white, Midwestern, Christian fundamentalists, they won't be able to shy away without reaping significant blowback.
  10. If Superintendent Walters had ever paid attention in one of those American history classes that he claims teachers are leaving the Bible out of, he'd know, for instance, that the only reason why the Puritans immigrated to America was because Holland had had enough (and I'm sorry, but you know you're trash when the Dutch tell you to GTFO, lol). But that's really the history of white people, isn't it? They've never had a place to call their own like all other peoples in this world do. Instead, they've traveled from land to land, imposing themselves and their bigoted, narrow-minded practices upon those who were there already, marginalizing and subjugating them through violence and intimidation, until their oppressed find the will to fight back. So, what's really going on right now in this country is existential for white people. They know this is their last shot at dominance, and they know that the numbers (meaning, the expected percentages of POC in this country in years to come) are not on their side.
  11. That's right up there with Kay's always insisting that Phillip still loved her and that they were going to reconcile, lol.
  12. I still don't blame Roscoe Born for bailing like he did. His storyline with Julia Barr and Lauren E. Roman went off the rails in almost record time.
  13. It is. He also played the guy who married Christine Sullivan on "Night Court" and had a baby with her before breaking up.
  14. He does, but just because SCOTUS has given him and everyone who follows him license to behave like a tyrant, that doesn't mean he should. The ability of our leaders to restrain themselves in that matter, after all, is what separates us from the savages (...and from Paul Rauch).
  15. I agree. I just don't believe there's another candidate on the left who has what it takes to beat Trump in November; and for me, that - beating Trump - is the point. Especially after yesterday's SCOTUS ruling. Frankly, we can worry about Biden's cognitive skills later. Meanwhile, I don't know where else to put this, so I'm putting it here. Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters issued a memorandum that, "effective immediately," all public school teachers in OK will be required to teach the Bible and Ten Commandments to their students: https://www.koco.com/article/ryan-walters-bible-taught-oklahoma-schools/61442153 Moreover, Walters has vowed sanctions against teachers who refuse to comply, up to and including revocation of their teaching licenses: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/oklahoma-schools-bible-ryan-walters-teachers-license-rcna159548 And in an interview with "PBS NewsHour," Walters defended his action, saying: "[W]e will be offering additional guidance to districts that they will have to comply with, which is to ensure the teaching of our standards and the role the Bible played in American history, dating back pre-Constitution, whether it's Mayflower Compact, the pilgrims, all the way up through Martin Luther King Jr. and civil rights movement, where he repeatedly quotes the Bible as a directive for what he's trying to do there." Nice try, Superintendent Walters, but I think we all know why you're REALLY handing down this mandate. (Apparently, white folks believe that if they invoke Dr. King's memory, the rest of us will go along with whatever bullshit ideas they want to force on everyone). At a time when our state is struggling to recruit and to keep educators, this nonsense was the last thing we needed. My hope, of course, is that the ACLU is filing suit against Walters and the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) as we speak.
  16. Because, as I've said before, GH is like the Olive Garden: when you're there, you're family!
  17. I agree. As great as it was to see MZ/Roger back, I have to think that longtime fans who watched back then were disappointed not to see MZ in scenes again not just w/ Chris Bernau but w/ Mart Hulswit, Don Stewart and Lenore Kasdorf as well. I agree here as well! To me, the rivalry between Alan and Roger is one of daytime's most fascinating. It's certainly more fascinating than the rivalry between ATWT's John Dixon and James Stenbeck, which, to me, felt plot-driven, precisely because James never had any real motivation aside from wanting more power.
  18. I think that was due to four things: 1) Bob Barker, who was an affable host, if not entirely down-to-earth; 2) "Barker's Beauties," who always projected images of being like the girls next door; 3) the fact that the studio audience was always on screen, and that the contestants were picked from that audience and didn't just appear like magic on stage the way they did on most other game shows; and 4) the variety and unpredictability of the pricing games. You knew there'd be an "Item Up for Bid" and two Showcase Showdowns - one halfway through the show, at the wheel; and the other, toward the end. But you didn't know which pricing games would be played on which show, or how those games would turn out for the contestants.
  19. The way I see it, Alan, as played by Christopher Bernau, was more cunning than Roger, who, IMO, operated largely out of desperation and impulse. Like Alexandra said, Roger was HUNGRY from the first day he came to Springfield, lol. But what I think Alan and Roger shared was a deep-seated need to measure up to, if not outdo, their respective, disapproving fathers, yet always coming up short. As a matter of fact, when I still was writing GL fanfic eons ago, I wrote this scenario where the two men wound up trapped someplace (can't remember where, or how they got there) and are forced to see just how similar they actually are. They wouldn't have become BFFs afterward, but there would've been a new level of understanding between them.
  20. I think Alan and Hope's marriage would have disintegrated, regardless of whoever wrote for them. IIRC, Alan and Elizabeth divorced, in part because Elizabeth had had enough of being Alan's trophy wife and yearned to be her own person instead. (Wasn't she into photography or something? But Alan discouraged her from having her own career). I think Hope was bound to chafe emotionally and psychologically from being dominated by Alan as well. It was just in Alan's nature to control the people who were closest to him, especially his wives. IMO, Rita was a basically decent person, who never set out to hurt anyone (at least, not intentionally), but she just couldn't tell the truth...about anything. If she had told the truth at least once in her life, imagine how much happier she would've been, lol!
  21. Who was John Burnett?
  22. Let's just say Emma Samms' outfit is a choice and leave it at that, lol.
  23. Amen!! No, it wouldn't. What's more, if Trump is allowed back into the WH, whatever few, remaining rights and protections that BIPOC and the LGBTQ community still have will be obliterated before anyone even has time to collect themselves. We are ALL in danger, Molly.
  24. Me neither! I know from all the (biased and taken-out-of-context) videos that my mom watches on YT that many believe Biden's performance at the debate to be part of an overall, alarming pattern, but I also know that many on the left AND on the right have been looking for any reason to dump Biden since day one, even though they're all aware of the alternative. Frankly, those people can go straight to hell (but not you, @Juliajms, I heart you forever, lol).
