  1. I thought the premier had its moments, and stood up to one of the better episodes from the last half of last year (ie there was a lot that I didn't like, but overall I still enjoyed the episode). I do NOT get the appeal of Charice (and since then I've read she's had botox? she's 18!), and hope she won't be seen too regularly, but if her being on means more appearances (and songs I hope) from my top Broadway crush, Cheyenne Jackson who made a quick cameo as the new coach of Voca Adrenaline, than I think I can handle it.
  2. I have to say after three episodes, I already find myself getting into Emmerdale--much more than EastEnders (though it's nice to see the older characters I know), and I haven't missed catching up on Coronation Street the past little while at all (I haven't really been too into it Corrie in a long time, I admit...)
  3. OK I caught the copyright tonight, and we are in 2008. It seems ok, thought nothing has really hooked me (I like the guardian of a boy being picked on, who just went and had a fight with the mom of the kid picking on him). Diederick Santer is the producer.
  4. HAAH I remember the Sonia lesbian story, which even as a non longtime viewer I could kinda see as not working... I remember a British friend once said that Eastenders and Corrie never are both great at the same time, when one is on fire the other seems to be in the pits. I'm sure she was generalizing--but any truth to that?
  5. Right that's what I remember being told--didn't the EP leave after 2006 or something?
  6. HAHA Damn. It must be March if Jackson was there--as that's when he was introduced according to Wiki. I wonder how this and EastEnders will do on Vision. I know a LOT of fans were very upset that BBCanada stopped showing EE--and Vision Network needs far far far lower ratings to keep on. It does seem a mistake to program Emmerdale at the same time as the CBC airs Corrie--but that's just West Coast (Vision Network is based in the East and doesn't time change their programming, so their soap block airs 9pm there, 6pm West)
  7. This might be his second time in a gay bar LOL he wasn't too comfortable anyway. He met Jackson there who got a bit mad at him... And yeah, when I used to watch Emmerdale when CBC aired it with Corrie ages back, I did take to it more than the others actually--so what you say makes sense. (It does have may fave of the UK soap themes...) Amello--I quite like her--but she's still some blonde to me right now
  8. After I think... Only two episodes have aired, and I barely saw him yesterday, so I'm not sure abotu the rest yet (and Emmerdale is the major UK soap I knwo the least about--core characters, etc ). So I can answer better after a few LOL. The other storyline is some blonde called Charity who likes to steal cars...
  9. HAHA when it was on the other station, and maybe we were in 2006? i was told it was a crappy year as well! Oh well... And thanks--it'll take me a few more casual watches to get a handle of the characters I don't know.
  10. Well today much of the episode was about Aaron going to a gay bar for one of the first times--so I guess we're smack dab int he middle of his storyline which would make it about a year ago--Fall 2009 I think? Anyway, I don't mind as I never watched any of it online when it happened...
  11. I guess Vision TV has given up on so much faith, for Brit programming. Before their two soaps, they have two diff sitcoms a night--mainly old stuff like Father Ted and Last of the Summer Wine but this year they added Ab Fab to the schedule, which is kinda hysterical to me considering their programming mandate.
  12. I didn't realize Julia arrived so soon, then. Can't wait!
  13. So watched two episodes of the current Canadian airing--a bit lost, as I didn't follow the show since it stopped airing on basic cable 2 years back--we're defnitely several years ahead of those episodes (which I believe were three years behind?) The online description on the network's site says: Ian continues to play a dangerous game with Clare, and nothing goes right.
  14. Is that when he comes in? I have, but only in the odd independent episode, so can't fairly comment yet (I will though). Totally agreed, although I think in general the critics are getting a bit tired of Burton, and cooling to him. He has his following, but...
  15. It has what the Americans would call good demos, apparently. I guess it serves a niche right now that the other UK soaps don't quite really. I think it's safe for a while yet. Is Phil redmond still involved? I know he was royally pissed when Channel 4 canceled his Brookside and threatened to take Hollyoaks away, but now tih Hillside and his famous youth soap Grange Hill gone, I got the impression he was gonna keep Hollyoaks around as long as possible. Either way it's still in the "Big 4" with Corrie, Eastenders and Emmerdale, and since it's Channel 4's only soap up there, I think that's another reason it will kick around (though I'm sure it's last on that list...)
  16. Of course, and that's part of its charm. I'm still only on box set two of The Beginning (I took a break for some Peyton Place) but he does seem to be most guilty at this stage...
  17. HAHA yeah the show itself was an odd mix of S Club with like sorta less inspired Pee Wee's Playhouse type surrealism. It was a fave of me and my roomates as it aired Sunday afternoons when we'd be lazy and hungover. LOL (and actually I do quite fancy him--he's the main reason I started watching Hollyoaks, but, still...) One last clip and then back to Hollyoaks--apparently the TV show is finally coming to DVD! lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNwZ8B-gflc
  18. They even made one last ditch attempt at going for a more "grown up" audience with a Cathy Dennis ballad (she had just done Outa My Head for Kylie and the surprise US hit Never had a Dream for S Club), but it was to no avail... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9u1D5RXpK4
  19. I know he's been on for what seems like ever, and he's very handsome--but I can never take him too seriously because I first watched him on the budget S Club wannabe show StarStreet (which for some reason we got for all of 6 months here in Canada) and as a member ofits accompanying cheezey pop band AllSTARS (yes, I own the CD...) I admit that's still who I always think of... Ridiculous
  20. That's fair enough--Ryan is responsible for some of the most amusing stumbled lines on the show
  21. The first Burke isn't an actor I terribly miss anyway (as awful as that is to say, considering what happened to him...)
  22. Carl, I follow Hollyoaks (I guess I have since that one gay storyline became popular on youtube) but I admit I'm not a regular viewer--if it was on TV here I probably would be though (or more so).I actually agree with your thoughts completely (down tot he mustache lol), but am willing to see how it plays out. And you're exactly right--it's kinda annoying all the responses from people that are basically "of course he's gay"--because i think it's still pretty difficult to do in this day and age (particularly when you're the type of actor he is--someone who is potentially a romantic lead, as opposed to a character actor).
  23. Does anyone know how far behind the UK Canada will be when Vision TV starts airing episodes (with Emmerdale) tomorrow? Apparently they're picking back up from where BBCCanada stoppes showing it last Spring. I hope it lasts longer than the 2 or so months Showcase showed Eastenders a year or two back (probably, Vision doesn't care nearly as much about ratings as Showcase did and they seem to be hoping a lot of the BBC viewes will move over)
  24. Starting tomorrow, Vision TV (a Canadian basic cable station that's original mandate was faith based programming--whatever faith) will have a 6pm block of Eastenders and Emmerdale--Eastenders apparently picking up where it ended last Spring when preminum cable channel, BBCCanada stopped airing it. I haven't watched Emmerdale in years, since CBC stopped showing it, so it will be interesting to see where they pick it back up (and CBC airs Coronation at 7--so that makes a good 90 min chunk of UK soaps...)
  25. Ha funny, I didn't remember the pairing being popular at all..
