  1. Welcome back, ratings fans! 1994 and the first half of 1995 will be posted over the next month or so. FROM THE VAULT: WEEKLY DAYTIME NIELSEN RATINGS: WEEKS OF 1/3/94-1/7/94 & 1/10/94-1/14/94:
  2. FROM THE VAULT: WEEKLY DAYTIME NIELSEN RATINGS: WEEKS OF 6/7/76-6/11/76 & 6/14/76-6/18/76: FAST WEEKLY WEEK OF 6/21/76-6/25/76 NOT AVAILABLE (Note: Per newspaper listings, there was only one scheduled preemption this week. "Magazine" preempted "The Price Is Right" from 10-11AM on 6/24/76. All other daytime shows were scheduled to air every day this week).
  3. 7/15/76 was not a YR preemption. The DNC aired pretty much all day on CBS (10-11AM, 130-530PM and 630PM-1216AM) but there was a break from 11AM-130PM, so Gambit, Love of Life, Search for Tomorrow and YR all aired that day, Here are the YR preemptions for 6/76-12/76: 2 Preemptions: Preempted Monday 8/16/76- Campaign 76: Republican Convention Preempted Thursday 11/25/76- Famous Classic Tales 1 Compressed Episode: Thursday 10/7/76 episode (24 minutes) (followed by Ford For President ad, 1224-1230PM) 1 Short Episode (or triggered full preemption?): Wednesday 11/3/76 episode- 1211-1217PM (6 minutes)
  4. FROM THE VAULT: WEEKLY DAYTIME NIELSEN RATINGS: WEEKS OF 5/24/76-5/28/76 & 5/31/76-6/4/76: There were no preemptions at all in September 1976! A lot of soaps from late September to early November 1976 aired compressed episodes (25 minutes instead of 30 minutes; 55 minutes instead of 60 minutes) due to the Paid Political Ads that would air for 5 minutes at the end of the shows. But that just meant they aired 5 minutes less of commercials during those episodes. Another fun ratings fact: "The Price Is Right" was rated as one full hour until 9/17/76. It was split into the two half-hour ratings we know it as to this day ("The Price Is Right 1" and "The Price Is Right 2") on 9/20/76. So it took CBS four years to realize they could get a higher-rated show in the rankings by making the second half hour of TPIR its own individual rating!
  5. No, 1976 was pretty low on preemptions. They didn't air Olympics in the daytime back then. I have completed the 1976 charts, so skimming them just now, the only main event left for preemptions in 1976 are a few days of the RNC and DNC conventions and Thanksgiving Day. That's about it, other than some breaking news President Carter press conferences. I think there was a discussion last year about the number of viewers, and if they were using "Total # of Viewers" in those press reports instead of the # used here ("Average # of Viewers"). Days got a 8.9/31 for the week of 9/27/76. Average # of viewers: 6,340,000. Total # of viewers: 7,970,000.
  6. She was recurring in November/December 2023. Her new contract started in January 2024 (airdate-wise) and she somehow managed to get her old spot near the top of the credits, instead of going to the end of the contract list.
  7. Prior to May 31, Fran was listed just once as a script writer on May 24. She was back in her regular spot as script editor on May 31. No. They were each credited one per episode with the title Script Writer from May 17 to May 30. 5/17/24: Sonja Alarr 5/20/24: Dave Ryan 5/21/24: Henry Newman 5/22/24: Kirk Doering 5/23/24: Christopher Dunn 5/24/24: Fran Myers 5/27/24: David Kreizman 5/28/24: David Kreizman 5/29/24: Dave Ryan 5/30/24: Sonja Alarr 5/31/24: Christopher Dunn

  15. Here's a look at the ratings for the series Deidre Hall did just before joining "Days" in June 1976. "Electra Woman & Dyna Girl" aired from September 1976-December 1976 as a segment of "The Krofft Supershow." Wikipedia lists the only first-run episodes of Deidre's segment as airing from 9/11/76-12/25/76, so I posted those weeks below:

  18. I can never say for certain until the info arrives, but that is the plan. I also recently got 1994-1995, so those charts will be going up at some point once I get them all done. You already have the OJ Simpson preemption data, but this will be the first time it appears in chart form like all of 1976-1993.
  19. FROM THE VAULT: WEEKLY DAYTIME NIELSEN RATINGS: WEEKS OF 1/12/76-1/16/76 & 1/19/76-1/23/76:
  20. January 1977-March 1977 are not in at the moment, so hopefully those will be coming later this year. So, we now have weekly ratings for January 1976-December 1976 and April 1977-Present.
  21. Welcome back, ratings fans! 1976 is now in. FROM THE VAULT: WEEKLY DAYTIME NIELSEN RATINGS: WEEKS OF 12/29/75-1/2/76 & 1/5/76-1/9/76:
  22. FIRST POST-WGA STRIKE EPISODE AIRED TODAY (MAY 17), WITH SCRIPT WRITER BEING CREDITED...REST OF "DAYS" WRITING TEAM TO RETURN TO CREDITS IN COMING WEEKS... Today (May 17) was the first episode written by a "Days" script writer (Sonja Alarr) since December 1 (the last script written before the WGA strike started in May 2023). Look for the rest of the "Days" writing team to return to the credits in the coming weeks.
  23. What was inserted into today's episode? I have yet to get a response from the publicist, but I did ask her a few weeks ago if there was an insert episode added at some point between May and December, since one of the sites reported # 15,000 was going to air on 12/3, while I have it scheduled to air on 12/2.
  24. They switched to the 10-episodes-a-week tape schedule last year, so an entire year can be taped in 26 weeks. The only two things that make Greg's statement questionable is that means there would only be 8 dark weeks through Christmas Day. But, that is do-able. Also, Days is only renewed into Sept. 2025, so they would need to renew the show before anything for Sept/Oct 2025 is written.
  25. That would mean they would be taping 26 of the next 34 weeks (with 8 dark weeks), since it would takes 26 weeks to tape all 260 episodes of 2025. Plus, they are yet to be renewed past Aug/Sep 2025, so a renewal announcement would have to happen for them to complete taping 2025 by the end of this year.
