CNN just contacted me. They are working on a Tina Andrews story and wanted help in getting some clips of her as Valerie. So, I figured out some episode #s for them to request from the show. I know we have that really poor quality video of their first kiss, but hopefully we will now get to see a pristine quality version of it. I also sent them the episode #s of Tina's debut, David's proposal, and an episode where David and Valerie get kicked out of a restaurant.

It looks liked I accidentally erased my answer to you when I was updating about 1189. But, no, the X's are for who is taping the episode. And the /'s are for who is rehearsing the next-day's episode. 1190,. the Monday episode, had Tom, Alice, Bill and Laura. None (other than Tom who was taping 1189 on Friday) is listed to be at work that day, which means they didn't rehearse Monday episode on Friday afternoons. Which means that got the crew out early on Fridays to enjoy a few extra hours of the weekend. Best guess is they did maybe a quick rehearsal of Monday's episodes on Monday mornings.

All this talk above of 1189 just made me realize this is the debut of the Sergio's set, which would become Doug's Place in 1972. So, Bill Hayes was preparing his lines exactly 54 years ago tonight and would walk on to the soon-to-be Doug's Place set (with a piano player) for the first time ever on July 9, 1970. 1189...7/23/70: Cast: Tom, Susan, Julie, Doug, Sergio/Cafe Owner, Piano Player, Waiter. Sets: Doug’s Apartment, Julie’s Apartment, Hall Outside Julie’s Apartment, Intimate “European Type” Café (Sergio’s).

Here's the cast chart from exactly 54 years ago this week! A very small group working all week. As was the case with most new roles, they would be blank. Oscar Beregi would make his first of 4 appearances as Sergio this week, but he had yet to be cast when the chart was typed up. Maybe they would fill-in the name in pen/pencil eventually or it remains blank to this day in the charts that Days has in their archives. The x is for the cast taping that day. The slash mark is for the cast who would be rehearsing the next day's episode. Based on that, it looks like they did not rehearse Monday episodes on Fridays. U/5s would be listed in the total as 1/2, and extras as 1/4. I guess that was to help with the budget. I know Betty told Bill in her correspondence that he was always using too many characters and would need to use less to stay on budget.

I don't know if it was Maureen Russell's book originally, which it probably was. Not sure if Astrid had appeared in other books before that. Maureen got the weekly cast charts directly from Days from 1965-1994, which are different than the telecast reports I got, which covered most of 1965-1975. I had contacted Maureen many years ago, and she would have been the key to me getting those 1965-1994 cast chart copies, but sadly she had gotten rid of them after doing the book. I've tried for decades to get access to them, but no one at the show can ever find them. There is a hope in the coming months, the publicist said she will try her best to get my "most wanted" missing names, such as who played Roz, Will's nanny, for 20 episodes, as well as some of the baby actors we still need from the 1990's and 2000's. But she said they are stored off site nowadays, so it's not as easy to access them as it had been in the past. When I started compiling my telecast report cast list, I worked off of Maureen's cast list, since she got it from the cast charts, to make sure everyone was accounted for. After going through all of the 1965-1975 telecast reports (some of which were either blank, not available, or incomplete), there were still certain names of actors that were not listed, such as Astrid. I've done my best to assign dates to a certain number of actors. Dick Gittings came in to play Bob Anderson when Mark Tapscott was sick, but I can't find an exact start date for him. Same for that actress who replaced Tina Andrews as Valerie. So, some of my episode rankings are right now just a best guess, since I can't pinpoint exact start dates for some people. Maureen lists Cindy Crawford as playing a teenager in 1978, but I've never found any type of role that would fit that, and I do have every script cast list from 1965-1984. So she's another unknown airdate as well. I have been able to eventually get most of the weekly cast charts from late 1968 to late 1974, and at some point in the 1970's, they started listing the cast in contract order, so the charts also would help confirm the exact signing dates of all of the actors. So, while we have those for the mid-1970's, we are lacking them for 1975-1983, so luckily a few episodes with credits have been posted on YouTube through the years, but not enough to get full details of the contract lists for 1975-1983. For instance, we don't know the exact date Deidre Hall signed a contract. Like most other people in the 1970's, even with Susan & Bill Hayes and Suzanne Rogers, there was usually a 3-6 month trial period before any actor would be placed on contract.

I asked Regina Gleason 10 years or so ago if she had any memory of Astrid Warner, who I can't find any record of as Sandy. I assigned Astrid those 12/12/67 & 12/13/67 episodes as a placeholder until we ever get verification. Regina said she only remembered Heather in the role. Although at the time I spoke to her, it had been over 45 years, so perhaps she just did not remember Astrid in the role briefly. The telecast reports for those episodes either had no one listed in the Role Played By column or were not available.

FROM THE VAULT: SATURDAY DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM FEBRUARY 1980 Nothing ever aired on ABC from 10-1030AM. However, from the Daytime TV Encyclopedia, this is what was in the ABC time slot from 1030-11AM: NO NETWORK SERVICE (thru 3/28/64) The Price Is Right (3/31/64-12/25/64) NO NETWORK SERVICE (12/28/64-3/31/67) 1030-1055: Dateline: Hollywood (4/3/67-12/1/67) 1055-11: The Children's Doctor (4/3/67-12/1/67) The Family Game (12/4/67-12/15/67) Donna Reed Show (12/18/67-3/1/68; repeats) The Dick Cavett Show (3/4/68-1/24/69) NO NETWORK SERVICE since 1/27/69 The Breakfast Club may or may not have been a full ABC network show, but some sources have it listed as such. It possibly aired on the ABC network from 9-10AM from 2/22/54-2/25/55. The early years are hard to fully confirm if some series were network or just local/syndicated. If we ever do get the ratings from the 1950's, all of that will finally be confirmed.

2/1/88 is the last time (of the sweeps checks), where Wheel ranked higher than TPIR 1, but it never beat TPIR 2. But, of course, I only checked 4 of the 52 weeks each year. The last time TPIR 2 was not 1st place (from my sweeps checks only) was in 1981.
