Y&R: Old Articles
@Broderick Did you particularly care for Kimberly Beck as Julie? Also, have you seen the busted 1978 pilot Escapade: I Thought It Was Someone I Knew? Granville Van Dusen and Janice Lynde were both in that one. It was "A Quinn Martin Production." I personally find it unfortunate that Kimberly Beck apparently never did anything for QM Productions, not even an episode of Barnaby Jones or The FBI. Believe it or not, Ms. Beck did appear in The FBI Story, a 1959 Warner Bros. movie starring James Stewart. (For the record, she played one of Mr. Stewart's daughters.) However, Ms. Beck apparently never worked on the 1965-74 QM TV series The FBI even though it was also from Warner Bros. I wonder if Kimberly Beck was offered roles on any daytime soap operas after she left Capitol. If Beck's Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter castmate Peter Barton could appear regularly on The Young and the Restless for several years, why couldn't Beck herself? Beck and Barton actually dated for a time, for crying out loud! Last night, I saw "Cruise Ship to the Stars," an episode of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century that had both Kimberly Beck and Leigh McCloskey. McCloskey has had stints on several daytime soap operas, including The Young and the Restless.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
@Vee @DRW50 @Broderick I purchased the 2012 e-edition of Peter M. Bracke's book Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th last October. Alas, it doesn't really have Kimberly Beck clear the air about her 1983 departure from Capitol. The e-edition quotes Ms. Beck as saying, "By the time of [Friday the 13th:] The Final Chapter, I had just left a soap opera called Capitol that I had been on for two years." In the e-edition, she doesn't say that she was "fired" or "let go" from Capitol. She doesn't even say that she "lost" her job on Capitol. However, she is quoted as saying the following: "You don't do porn or anything like that, but you do what you have to do to sustain the lifestyle that you've created. For me, I owned a home, and I had just divorced a really wealthy man and took nothing. I was struggling just to support myself and retain my dignity. It wasn't like I could be picky. And I had to fight to get that part. I had to go in and read a million times. And that, to me, is respectable." (Source: Bracke, Peter M. Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th. Foreword by Sean S. Cunningham. Kindle ed., Sparkplug P, 2012.) Even considering what is said in this article as well as this other article, I can't say that Kimberly Beck was legally fired from Capitol in 1983. Should Ms. Beck have been ineligible for unemployment benefits just because the powers that be didn't think she was well suited to play a revised version of the Julie Clegg character? In any case, I can't say it doesn't bother me that Ms. Beck didn't appear in too much of note after Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter cleaned up at the box office. Yes, she did appear on L.A. Law in 1987, but it just for one episode. Was Ms. Beck offered roles on any daytime soap operas after she left Capitol in 1983? Peter Barton, one of her castmates in The Final Chapter, did appear as Dr. Scott Grainger on The Young and the Restless from 1988 to 1993. (Kimberly Beck has admitted to briefly dating Peter Barton, but I can't independently verify IMDb's claim that they shared an apartment during the early '80s.)

Eight Is Enough
Um, is it safe to say that The Fitzpatricks and Mulligan's Stew, two short-lived family series that aired during the 1977-78 season, were both ripoffs of Eight Is Enough? In any case, both The Fitzpatricks and Mulligan's Stew are brought up in this video.

Knots Landing
@SoapDope Did James Houghton, God rest his soul, appear to be too handsome? How about David Mason Daniels? Speaking of Capitol, was there a point in which Kimberly Beck, who played David Mason Daniels's lover on that daytime soap, might have fared well on Knots Landing? She did have a four-episode stint as Claire Prentice on Dynasty during the 1986-87 season.

ALL: Happy Halloween! What soap stars moonlighted doing horror flicks?
Kimberly Beck, who appeared as Julie Clegg McCandless on Capitol for about a year and a half, played Trish Jarvis in the 1984 slasher film Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. As a young girl, Kimberly had an uncredited small role in the 1964 Hitchcock film Marnie. David Hasselhoff and Catherine Hickland both appeared in the 1988 horror flick Witchery.

@Broderick Speaking of Capitol, do you think Capitol regular Kimberly Beck would have fared well on Y&R at any point? Peter Barton, one of Ms. Beck's castmates in the 1984 slasher film Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, appeared regularly on Y&R as Scott Grainger Sr. from 1988 to 1993.

THE COLBYS
For a time, actress Kimberly Beck was married to Barron Hilton's son Barry, whose full name was William Barron Hilton, Jr. During the 1986-87 television season, Ms. Beck actually had a four-episode stint as Claire Prentice on Dynasty, the parent show for The Colbys. By the way, did The Colbys ever allude to the Liza Colby character on All My Children? 😜

@SoapDope78 Do you think Robin Mattson would have fared well as Julie Clegg on Capitol? It is worth noting that Ms. Mattson left General Hospital around the same time that Kimberly Beck left Capitol.

Um, was the late Nicolas Coster ever considered for a role on Capitol? How about Robin Mattson? Kin Shriner? Considering the sheer number of daytime soap operas that each actor appeared on, it wouldn't surprise me if I were to find out that they were considered for roles on Capitol. Would Robin Mattson have fared well as Julie Clegg on Capitol? It's my understanding that Ms. Mattson left General Hospital around the same time that Kimberly Beck left Capitol.

@John I have recently said the following: @DRW50 @SoapDope78 Can someone possibly tell me when Kimberly Beck's final scenes as Julie Clegg aired? By the way, I came across this 1982 video interview with Kimberly Beck and Debrah Farentino today.
