  1. @Soaplovers Was Andrea Evans...let go as Patty Williams on Y&R in 1984? Yes, I am aware that she reappeared as Tina Lord on One Life to Live shortly her departure from Y&R.
  2. Um, would Search for Tomorrow still be in production today if CBS had not changed its timeslot back in 1981?
  3. The Executive Suite TV series was produced by MGM Television. Warner Bros. Discovery presumably owns the rights to the series at the present time. For all I know, the Executive Suite TV series might be given a Warner Archive release someday.
  4. Would Catherine Hickland have fared well on Dallas in the late 1980s? If there hadn't been so much stuff going on in her personal life at the time Capitol ended its five-year run on CBS in 1987, perhaps Ms. Hickland could have joined the cast of Dallas or some other primetime soap opera that year.
  5. @John No offense, John, but you have to keep in mind that the pilot for the ABC dramedy series Eight Is Enough initially failed to sell after it was completed in the spring of '76. Kimberly Beck wanted to play a significant role on the limited-run ABC series Rich Man, Poor Man Book II, so the network granted her a release from her Eight Is Enough contract. I don't know if she was offered the role of Nancy Bradford on Eight Is Enough again, but she certainly wasn't rehired when Eight Is Enough finally went to series. Um, was Kimberly actually interviewed for the E! True Hollywood Story episode about Eight Is Enough? I understand she was interviewed for an Intimate Portrait episode about her actress-friend Rosanna Arquette. A certain Facebook friend of mine thought that Kimberly Beck looked younger than Dianne Kay, but he also thought that Dianne was prettier than Kimberly. The friend in question clearly thinks that Dianne's stunning physical beauty made her difficult to cast in acting roles.
  6. @Spoon I can't say it doesn't bother me that John Conboy more or less fired Kimberly Beck from Capitol in 1983. In 1990, Conboy became executive producer of Santa Barbara. SB writer Patrick Mulcahey quit the show after just one meeting with him. Mulcahey later wrote for Guiding Light for a while.
  7. @DRW50 @Soaplovers @GL95 @DeeVee @MichaelGL Has anybody read "A Capitol Idea," the article by Michael Logan that appeared in the January 18, 2003, edition of TV Guide? It was about John Conboy become executive producer of Guiding Light, was it not? What did the article particularly say about the 1980s soap opera Capitol? During the 1990-91 period, Conboy was the executive producer of Santa Barbara when that soap still had future Guiding Light regular Marcy Walker.
  8. @DRW50 @Broderick @vetsoapfan Is it safe to say that Kimberly Beck's 1983 ouster from Capitol was a business decision? Capitol struggled to grow its audience during its five-year run on CBS, did it not? Weren't CBS executives breathing down John Conboy's neck? In any case, I hope Ms. Beck hasn't harbored any significant resentment toward Catherine Hickland or David Hasselhoff. It wasn't their fault. In fact, Ms. Hickland still had to audition for the role of Julie Clegg before she finally got it. Clarification: Hasselhoff and Hickland were an item in 1983, but it wasn't until March 24, 1984, that they officially became a married couple.
  9. @DRW50 As this previous post of mine indicates, Kimberly has admitted that she didn't take any alimony from her ex-husband, who was quite wealthy. Why was that? Yes, Kimberly did play a rape victim in a 1984 episode of T.J. Hooker known as "Death on the Line." I wonder why she didn't appear on more TV crime shows than she actually did during the 1970s. She did make guest appearances on Adam-12 and The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, but...
  10. @DRW50 Assuming that replacing Kimberly Beck with Catherine Hickland was the right thing to do from a creative standpoint, it only bought Capitol a few more years. David Mason Daniels, who played Kimberly's significant other on Capitol, was shown the door himself in early 1985, and the soap went off in the air in March of 1987. In an October 2020 interview, Catherine indicated that she still didn't know why Kimberly left Capitol. You might want to click here to find out what A Martinez has had to say about John Conboy. By the way, DRW50, it's my understanding that financial problems prompted Kimberly to successfully pursue the role of Trish Jarvis in the slasher film Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Does Kimberly indicate how much the movie helped her financially and/or career-wise during the interview?
  11. @Vee @DRW50 @Soaplovers @soapfan770 Are you people willing to listen to the interview that Kimberly Beck did for the Happy Horror Time podcast back in 2020? If so, the interview in question can be listened to by clicking on the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNj9-r4uAeQ&pp=ygUcaGFwcHkgaG9ycm9yIHRpbWUgYmVjayBjbGFyaw%3D%3D In particularly, I would like to know if she cleared the air about the circumstances surrounding her 1983 departure from Capitol during the interview. However, I'm too chicken to check out the interview for myself at the present time. 🐔
  12. @vetsoapfan You can watch YouTube videos, can you not? To listen to Kimberly Beck's 2020 interview on the Happy Horror Time podcast via YouTube, click on the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNj9-r4uAeQ&pp=ygUcaGFwcHkgaG9ycm9yIHRpbWUgYmVjayBjbGFyaw%3D%3D @Sapounopera Keep in mind that Kimberly Beck is 70 years old now. I don't know what her health is like at the present time. I don't know what Kimberly looks like these days, and I'd rather not know, to be honest. If the powers that be at Beyond the Gates are willing to create a character that Kimberly can play, and Kimberly herself is willing to take that role, so be it.
  13. Um, is Sam Pezzullo really supposed to appear as a "friend of the housewives" in a future episode of RHOBH? Check out this video from January of 2026. Despite what Sam says in the video, it doesn't look like RHOBH has been cancelled.
  14. @vetsoapfan Do you have a Spotify account? How about an Amazon Music account? I ask because Kimberly Beck was interviewed for the Happy Horror Time podcast back in 2020, something that I indicated earlier in this thread. I wonder if she said anything about the circumstances surrounding her 1983 departure from Capitol during the interview. Kimberly did, after all, appear in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter less than a year later. To be honest, I'm still too scared to check out the interview for myself at the present time. You have to excuse me. The interview can be reached by clicking on one of the following links: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3SITmPk4IEKSaUWAuXs0OK https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/078266fe-beef-41c7-a7c4-144f00404912/episodes/09417e8b-0442-4ef8-98b0-ced5c7b921e0/happy-horror-time-ep-21-interview-w-kimberly-beck-clark-from-f13-pt-iv-the-final-chapter I believe the interview is also available on YouTube, but I'm too scared to find it on there at the present time. Again, you have to excuse me. I'm chicken, am I not? 🐔
  15. @Soaplovers What do you mean by "a business that isn't too kind to working performers"? Does this concern typecasting? I've certainly heard about ageism in Hollywood.
  16. @vetsoapfan When do you think Capitol peaked quality-wise?
  17. @vetsoapfan Do you remember Kimberly Beck's teeth being at least a little bit "Ewoky" on Capitol? Ewoks are cute! 😜
  18. @vetsoapfan Do you think Capitol was painfully mediocre at times? How about during its first year and a half on the air?
  19. @vetsoapfan Did you particularly like anything about Capitol? How about the Trey and Sloane characters? Judging from what you said in this post, you did watch the soap regularly for at least a while. It's too bad that Kimberly Beck's stint as Julie Clegg didn't really work out for her in the end. She never had a long-term role on a TV series ever again. Beck did have a stint as Claire Prentice on Dynasty during the 1986-87 season, but it was only for four episodes.
  20. @DeeVee Imagine William Smith playing a Falconetti-like villain on the original Hawaii Five-O TV series before he began appearing regularly as Kimo on that show. @vetsoapfan I failed to mention that Susan Sullivan had a prominent role in the feature-length pilot for the Bill Bixby TV series The Incredible Hulk. Click here to watch some footage from that pilot.
  21. Speaking of James Lipton, did his stint as a writer on Capitol come back to haunt him in any episodes of Inside the Actors Studio?
  22. I find it curious that Dick Van Patten appeared in several episodes of The Love Boat but zero episodes of Fantasy Island. Why was that? Lynda Day George made guest appearances on both shows.
  23. Do you think the Jenny Diamond character that Catherine Hickland wound up playing on Capitol was much more interesting than the Julie Clegg character? Jenny Diamond was a villainess, was she not?
  24. Um, is The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills still relevant in this day and age? If it isn't, when did the show stop being relevant?
  25. @vetsoapfan Is it true that you thought Julie Clegg was essentially a boring character? You appeared to indicate that in this previous comment of yours.
