It is what it is and it's not the first time fans hated on a newcomer after their favorite was dismissed.

I wonder if it was a mistake to begin with to allow the announcement of MJ's departure to come out so soon. We still have another full month of seeing him on screen. This will make fans feel even more some type of way knowing he will no longer be around after that. It's possible the fans will warm up to the new guy with time, but at this rate, I certainly don't see it happening right away. Obviously, new guy is going to have to bring it, whether that's fair or not.

As expected, there has been a petition started on MJ's behalf. These usually don't work, but I can't help but admire the love and dogged determination. The new guy is going to have to do a lot of ducking because there will probably be a lot of tomatoes being thrown at him. 😲

New soap fans vs OG fans? I don't think this is making a difference. When something or SOMEONE surprising comes along you respond in kind. Doesn't matter if you're old or new. It just so happens that this actor did a good job at wooing a certain percentage of the audience before the first 30 days which I find very impressive. And I would bet that most of them are long time soap viewers.
