Well…Baby Mo wasn’t kidnapped, but Reva’s son, niece and granddaughter were. Plus, Annie was involved, so… And Reva had attempted suicide on a similar bridge. I got it.

I have to believe that MG was having the time of her life chewing up that scenery, wearing that black leather, plotting in her basement. It was a real waste of Ken Norris though.

Holly kidnapped Shayne and Tammy, among other Springfield children, and Reva had to stop her from jumping off a bridge. Probably the same bridge. Reva knew her bridges.

That’s a SORASing problem. Ask Patricia Bruder how she felt about it. Robin Mattson would’ve been great playing against type for a change.

Kind of like how Jerry ver Dorn became the de facto elder statesman on GL after only a few years.

Marcia McCabe wanted to continue working up to a point. She wasn’t happy when her Alicia Grande character ended on OLTL. I could’ve seen her as Hope. At least until Mary Stuart came on as Meta…

Dr. Barbara Moreno and daughter Angela last appeared in the Xmas episode and never returned, but Barbara left son Josh with Stu temporarily. But did we ever really see Josh after that? I preferred Josh #1. I did not like Damion Schiller on any soap.

Lemay wrote a long speech for Ada berating Ted on his life choices, saying he needed to own up, take responsibility, change his life. Connie skipped half a page of dialogue and just said, “CHANGE IT!!!” After that, he kept track of which phrases he wrote that she would say and which she wouldn’t. He credited her with teaching him how sometimes less was more. So, yes, she changed dialogue. He respected her and allowed it. He also allowed Vicky “improvisational” liberties. Lemay disliked Dwyer and she hated him back. The story of her lunch with him in his book is epic. Why she wasn’t cast again on another soap is a mystery. Perhaps her reputation preceded her. Perhaps she retired out of embarrassment or shame or anger. Lemay wasn’t terribly concerned with the Matthews other than Liz and Pat, only because he loved Beverly Penberthy. If any writer had wanted a Matthews matriarch, Liz was there, until she wasn’t. She should’ve succeeded Ada as mother-to-all

If you substitute SEARCH FOR TOMORROW for SOMERSET, and Mary Stuart for Karla, then it makes complete sense. Stuart had been on SFT for two decades and wasn’t crazy about younger actresses stealing her thunder on “her” show. Tina played Patti at that time. Perhaps Tina is fudging the names, or perhaps her memory is poor, since she also claimed that Kate had the first soap abortion ever on SOMERSET. We all know it was Pat Matthews on AW.

It hurts knowing that Duncan was KILLING this role and never got the credit she deserved. Nor the opportunity to continue on the show until the end. Nor another contract role on another NYC soap. (Wouldn’t she have been fabulous as Alexandra Spaulding, replacing Beverlee TWICE? Because she could’ve done that. She was that good.) I wonder how Vicky Wyndham felt about Carmen’s departure, because Rachel vs Iris was still driving that show. (For that matter, I wonder how she felt about the departure of Beverlee? Or Jacquie? Any quotes out there?) Maybe VW couldn’t get too worked up about it because she herself was hanging on for dear life. But AW started to lose me when CD left.

I never want a “redeemed rapist” on a soap again. Honestly? I never need a tape storyline on a soap again. Yes, it happens. But the social issue aspect of it has been addressed. 1990 was only a decade after Luke raped Laura on GH. We all know how that turned out. Jack raped Kayla on DAYS a few years before 1990. He’s a great guy now. His longtime wife Jennifer is also a rape victim, which I’ve always questioned. Makes you wonder why some rapists were redeemed and some weren’t. Actor charisma? Popularity? Mark McCormack raped Mary on SB. She later died and he was not redeemed. But Dash Nichols raped Julia, was NOT convicted, and continued on the show. Her sister Augusta flirted with him. (Louise Sorel quit over this.) Sidenote: SB was the RAPEYIST show EVER. Literally every woman on the show was assaulted at some point. Kelly. Christy. Eden. Julia. Hayley. Gina (in backstory). BJ. Mary. Amy (impregnated against her will). I’m sure I’m missing a few. AW later has the tape storylines of Lorna and Toni before the show ends in 1999. Were there other tapes that decade besides these two and Marley? I can’t recall.

Also following the Michelle storyline where she unalived her grapist (not sure if we can use that language on here or not). Danny’s mom is cold as ice! I’ll have to keep following to see what ends up coming of that relationship. Michelle was attacked but not actually raped. Abigail was assaulted by Roy far more than Michelle was by Mick, but she was also not raped. Both ladies killed their attackers though. The Mick actor was awesome. I hated to lose him.
