  1. When Calista Flockhart played Ursula Blackwell on One Life To Live
  2. Mary Page Keller - Ryan's Hope Promos from 1982 - the Original Amanda Kirkland. It is a shame that SoapNet refused to air reruns of Ryan's Hope during Mary Page Keller time on the show. It would've been interesting to see her work
  3. Why does @EricMontreal22 keep getting banned?
  4. Randall Edwards recently let it slip the real reason Julie Ridley (Dr. Annie Stewart) exited As The World Turns. At the time fans and soap columnists were puzzled by her sudden exit. P&G simply said she was going to take two months off for personal reasons, so Randall Edwards took over temporarily. Then the change was permanent as Mary Lynn Blanks took over, and Julie Ridley never came back - the soap press saying she wanted to return to Atlanta Fans have always wondered why Julie Ridley left so suddenly, never speaking to the media again and just disappeared. Now we know the reason why Julie Ridley left, as revealed by Randall Edwards in the new Ryan's Hope book - Julie Ridley was pregnant and not married. It is not scandalous today - but back in 1982 being pregnant out of wedlock was considered a no-no. P&G being very conservative probably didn't approve of its leading lady being pregnant and not married. Irna Phillips wanted her character Kim to be a single mother, without getting married back in the day. P&G balked at that, which led to Irna Phillips getting sacked. We don't know if it was P&G that asked her to leave, or it was Julie Ridley who wanted to leave. But that is the reason she left, she was pregnant.
  5. Former Executive Producer of Ryan's Hope Joseph Hardy has passed away at age 95 Joseph Hardy Dead: Broadway Director, Producer Of 'Ryan's Hope' Was 95 (deadline.com)
  6. I question the story about Laura Malone suing and winning a settlement because there is nothing on-line about it - and as a faithful reader of Soap Opera Digest (I have all the back copies from the 80s & 90s) nothing was reported about any lawsuit by her I wouldn't think she would have any grounds to sue - her contract expired and the show decided not to renew the contract. That is not wrongful termination. The contract expired and the show decided they didn't want to negotiate a new contract, nothing illegal about that. This whole story about Laura Malone suing and getting a settlement seems to be a urban legend, because there is no evidence this ever happened.
  7. Today is the 49th Anniversary of Ryan's Hope - having debuted on ABC 49 years ago today - July 7th, 1975 Which means we are one year away from the 50th Anniversary - there have been suggestions about a 50th Anniversary gathering for the fans - only problem is someone has to organize it. So far nobody has stepped up to the plate Happy 49th Ryan's Hope!
  8. All My Children Emergency Recast In Middle Of Scene! (1997) | Roscoe Born To David Forsyth
  9. When Geoffrey Pierson Fired & Replaced In 24 HRs On Ryan's Hope | Right In The Middle Of A Storyline
  10. Another World 1975 - Liz Matthews (Irene Dailey) out on a date with Dr. Gavin (William Roerick) In real-life Irene Dailey was a lesbian and William Roerick was gay - both with long-time partners
  11. The reason you have shut down twice is NOT because of "Another World" videos - it is because of the City Lights interview with Beverlee McKinsey - yes you had the blessing of Scott McKinsey to post it. But you did not have the permission of the company who holds the rights to the library of interviews from City Lights - the company sells clips & whole programs from their library and will ask YouTube to shut down any account that uploads material they own - which is the McKinsey interview. So you could start a third YouTube channel and upload Another World videos without being affected - but the minute you upload that City Lights interview you will get shut down again - so just don't upload the interview and you will be fine
  12. Ariana Muenker (Marianne Randolph) has started her own YouTube page and uploaded several scenes from 1975! featuring Pat, Michael & John Randolph - Alice (Jacqui Courtney), Aunt Liz, Barbara and Chris Pierson Here newly created YouTube page is here https://www.youtube.com/@arianatheearlydays767/videos She is uploading new videos from 1975 daily!
  13. If they wanted to bring Marcy Walker on as a love-interest for Josh, they should've made Walker character a recast of Morgan. At least the character would have a past with Josh, she was connected to the Spaulding's and Bauer's clans.
  14. Joel Crothers & Holland Taylor who played married couple Dr. Miles & Denise Cavanaugh I real-life Joel was gay and Holland is a lesbian - wish there were more scenes of the two them online - especially any love scenes!
  15. When Liza BEAT Jenny in Junior Miss Pageant in a Huge Upset
  16. Rita Bauer - Guiding Light led me to Santa Barbara Promo (Lenore Kasdorf)
  17. Whatever Happened To Actor Who Played Jamie Sanders on One Life To Live (Mark Philpot) Watch video below - and you understand why its in this thread
  18. Laura Wright first love interest on Loving was Eric Woodall (who played Matthew Ford) he is also gay Years later they had a Santos Family Guiding Light reunion on The Locher Room - Paula Garces (who played Pilar) confessed she had a BIG crush on PAS - to which Alan Locher said "unfortunately he didn't play on your team"
  19. Kevin Spirtas (Dr. Craig Wesley Days of our Lives) was on the Locher Room and said he was in a long-term relationship with Timothy Patrick Murphy (Mickey Trotter Dallas & Search for Tomorrow) back in the early 80s
  20. Tonya Pinkins exited August 1986 Tamara Tunie joined in February 1987 Six month period between the two - when you are creating a long-term story - that is just the right amount of time to give the audience distance between the two - so viewers can forget about Heather and welcome Jessica That said - Tamara Tunie had the same complaints as DramatistDreamer - In a town of over 40 contract player, why are only two Black? However Tamara really pushed Douglas Marland to create a back story for her character - and there were episodes where Jessica went back to visit her family, so we could get a sense of what made Jessica tick
  21. Lisa Brown first appearance on As The World Turns when Iva comes home This is during the "transition" phase Marland/Calhoun was pushing from "Steve & Betsy" show to an ensemble show - Tonya Pinkins is in this episode as well at the start of her romance with Roy Franklin. Maybe Pinkins was written out because Marland wanted the Jessica Griffin character to romance Roy instead?
  22. ABC Promo touting the "New" Ryan's Hope - as it enters the 80s The glitz, the glamour, the romance, the excitement!
  23. Should be said that Tonya Pinkins time on the show went from the "Steve & Betsy" show with Mary Ellis-Bunim as EP (1983) to Doug Marland/Robert Calhoun (1986) trying to rejig the show into more of an ensemble - so her character was stuck in limbo during this "transition" period Marland & Calhoun were trying to instigate. Pinkins wasn't the only one affected, half a dozen actors were stuck drifting around until Marland could figure out what he wanted to do with certain characters. Pinkins made the same complaints to SOD years ago - and said she was fired with no notice. She claims she went on a two week vacation - when she returned, she was told she'd already had her last day. For his part Robert Calhoun told SOD he was "distressed" to hear about Pinkins talking about a toxic work environment. Saying he has nothing but respect and admiration for her beauty and talent.
