Fair point. But I do read recaps and spoilers and am aware of the current storylines. I brought it up only in reply to another poster commenting on a current storyline regarding DiMera/Kiriakis feud. But yes I agree that I should bring any historical discussion to the history thread. Sorry for derailing the discussion of current episodes.

I found Brandon C stiff at first, as Martin, and felt that was a problem with the actor, and I think it really was. But now I think things have shifted. What I'm seeing now is that he's intentionally putting the stiffness into the character as a character trait -- when the character is in an uncomfortable or triggered situation; but other times the character Martin acts more relaxed and natural. That's the shift I'm feeling. So now I finally want to watch him.

I've never seen ATWT, nor have I studied its history. (I just don't have time/interest to take on another soap). I'm curious what the reference was.

Regarding viewers wondering how old Martin really is, and how can he be considering running for President, and would it be election year 2028 or 2032.... Frankly, with the current political turmoil in real life, there could be news interruptions daily. I'm glad there's paramountplus. But the scroll should also say the eppy will be up on cbs.com later same day. You don't have to wait for the next day. During COVID, there were so many 5-minute news updates at the end of every hour on ABC, that GH started putting the last five minutes of every episode up on GH facebook, and five years later, they still do.

I agree with you. A chosen family would be more resonant for modern times.

Loved the episode. All the references to books, poetry, the speeches. I know that poem so well, I said it aloud with Anita https://poets.org/poem/dreams Vernon starting to write his speech, talking about bullying, it could reference (without his knowledge) Tyrell's struggle, of course. But it also spoke to me about the current US governmental bullying. Vernon's speech as the voiceover for the montage at the end was just awesome. How it was done, and what he said. Yes we do need love. What he said applies on multiple levels, in Fairmont Crest, in viewer's real lives, and on the national/international level.

I'm watching live on CBS New York live feed, and I saw that, which is odd since it was actually airing.

Brandon C's acting as Martin has greatly improved. Astonishing. Now at the point where some of the annoying traits are clearly intentionally traits of the character, and not tics of the actor, so that's good.

Nothing wrong at all. I support women who are child-free. Just saying, this being a soap, I wonder if Laura is actually Mona's niece, daughter, or ?

I remember from the ladies at the diner, first week, Mona said she was glad she never had children. Today she sure is being maternal or at least a a mentor to Laura.

Those scenes of Dana-Leslie with Ted. Wow. Great scene. And I appreciate that the show let the scene go long. It might have had one or two breaks, but they didn't break it up into lots of little pieces. Then end part was so intense.

DiMera Enterprises should not exist. Stefano wasn't into corporation stuff. The whole corporation is an artificial construct that some writers (I don't remember who) added quite a few years ago, and then the idea grew with each of successive writing regimes. It's possible that Stefano created the name DE as a front for his personal nefarious deeds, but if he did, there was no actual enterprise. He wasn't into business, not even illegal business. He was into his personal plots. The bottom line is that Stefano didn't care about any of that business stuff. It wasn't a thing. Before EJ was "killed" in 2014, he and Clyde were arguing about running drugs. But that wasn't a Stefano thing. I think it may have been Dena Higley who added on the Kiriakis/DiMera rivalry, but it wasn't based on history. Just something she wanted developed. None of it interests me. Just like all the endless corporate takeovers on Y&R are uninteresting to me.
