  1. Totally hear you - Deidre is the heart of the show in many ways, no question. I guess for me it's less about her performance and more about the character's arc feeling a bit... done? Like Marlena’s already been through everything. Would love to see her pop in for big moments, like the legends do, but maybe it’s okay to let the next generation take more of the spotlight too? Just a thought, no heresy intended 😄
  2. I truly love Deidre - she carried the show on her back for so many years. But her acting isn't quite what it used to be, and most of her leading men - Don, Roman (the original), and John - are no longer part of the canvas. Her children have mostly moved on too, except for Belle. Maybe it's time for Marlena to take a step back? I’m not sure there’s much left for her in Salem at this point. She could still return for guest appearances, like Maggie, Hope, Julie, Jennifer, or Carrie.
  3. I got completely hooked when All My Children first started airing in Israel back in 1994. I still remember the hurricane, Janet Green’s clashes with Laurel and with her mother, Wilma Marlowe, and poor Mona’s heartbreaking death - and how it all affected Erica. The show was absolutely brilliant back then!
  4. Hey, just checking - did the returning faves already leave? Carrie, Eric, Will, Jack and Jen, Paul, Shane, Shawn, and Ciara?
  5. Loved the way they wrapped up Bo and Hope’s story 💔➡️❤️ Glad Jack & Jen, Shane & Kim, Steve & Kayla all got their happy endings too. Feels like the right time to say goodbye… maybe we’ll see them again for the 60th, but their Salem days are pretty much done. That said… the budget cuts really show. Feels more like watching a stage play than a TV show sometimes 😅 Soap operas really are a dying genre. Bittersweet, honestly. that song in the finale montage felt like a total miss. Like… this is the epic closing of Bo and Hope and that’s what you pick? 😬 They should’ve played “Tonight I Celebrate My Love” - it’s their song, it would’ve hit so much harder emotionally. Probably was a copyright issue, but still… fans deserved that moment. One last proper tearjerker!
  6. Yesterday’s episode was sweet and emotional - all about the vets who’ve brought us joy for decades. Poor Deidre looked absolutely drained from all the crying, and honestly? Same. I really hope we’re done with the John tributes, because I’m maxed out. The flashbacks were lovely, but kind of odd not seeing Patsy Pease in any of them - what’s up with that? And seriously, why bring back Jack and Jen and not even give them one scene with Marlena? No condolences, nothing. Weird choice. That said, the Hope/Jen/Julie scenes were beautiful. You can tell there’s real love there - their chemistry just works. I assume we’ll get more surprise returns for the 60th, but it does feel like the show’s shifting to focus on the younger crowd now. Maybe it’s just time. It’s not petty - I noticed it too. Deidre stood there kind of stiff while Kristian hugged her. Maybe there’s some tension, who knows. Deidre’s had her share of off-screen drama over the years - that thing with Suzanne, and there were old rumors about Crystal Chappell too. Now maybe something’s off with Kristian as well? I get that not everyone on set is best friends, but it’s always a little jarring when it shows on screen. It reminded me of that vibe back in ’94 when Doug and Julie returned after Tom Horton’s death - and Alice felt oddly distant toward Julie. Maybe it was just some old history between the actresses quietly showing through. Anyway, these moments stick out, especially when the rest of the episode feels so heartfelt.
  7. Days of Our Lives - June 11, 2025: John Black’s Farewell part three Honestly, I’m a bit worn out after two full weeks of nonstop mourning for John. We've said our goodbyes - to the character and the actor - and it feels like it’s time to move forward. I also think they really missed the mark by not having Jack, Jen, Will, Sami, Maggie, and Julie fully present at the funeral. Same with Tony and Anna - their absence was felt. Kristen (Eileen Davidson) would’ve added some nice edge, even in a quick cameo. And how did Hope not give a eulogy? Also… the music during Bo’s speech? Not it. Just didn’t land emotionally for me. That said, Carrie’s return was a breath of fresh air - totally what the show needed right now. Yet another John tribute today?? At this point even the cast must be emotionally fried 😅
  8. Of course - Jack, Jen, Julie, Maggie, Will, and Sami should’ve been in the memorial. No question.
  9. Just rewatched Paul’s eulogy… especially the ending. So touching. Christopher Sean did a beautiful job - kudos to him “But to all the times that I was lucky enough to have with my dad, he made me feel loved. He made me feel accepted. So every time I see a rainbow up high or a baseball in the sky, I’m gonna think of you, Dad. I love you, Dad. I can’t wait to play another game of baseball with you again,” Paul said as tears streamed down his face. Paul returned to his seat, and Andrew kissed his hand.
  10. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16N2KPYDxR/ During the livestream tribute to #DrakeHogestyn we discussed the taping of #JohnBlack funeral scenes on Days of our Lives beautifully stated by his TV children Eric Martsolf Martha Madison
  11. Ok, so the memorial felt a bit... underwhelming. I couldn’t help but wonder - where’s Julie? Would’ve made sense for her to be sitting next to Marlena. And Maggie, who’s been close to John and Marlena for decades? Sami? Hope? Carrie? What about Tony and Anna? Jack and Jen? And Will? And Kristen - even just a short, quiet scene of Eileen Davidson by his grave would’ve added so much depth. That said, Paul’s eulogy really stood out. The line “Can’t wait to play basketball with you again” was genuinely moving.
  12. Wait - so no Will, Jack, or Jen at John's funeral? That’s just weird. What was the point of bringing them back then? Did Julie and Maggie even show up? I mean, seriously.
  13. Yeah, not sure why Jack and Jen didn’t rush to Marlena - or even Carrie - to offer their condolences. A few flashbacks would've been a nice touch too. Instead, we got a whole episode of them talking about Chad and Abby? Come on. On the bright side, I loved Anna’s scenes with Marlena and Carrie - sweet and heartfelt, felt like a real 80s throwback.
  14. Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
  15. Days of our Lives S60E204 – Thursday, June 5, 2025 Okay, today’s episode was kind of boring. It was nice seeing Jack and Jen back, but they wasted an entire episode on Jen chatting with Julie - one scene would’ve been enough. Also, why didn’t Jack and Jen go comfort Marlena? And wouldn’t a flashback with Jack, Jen, and John have been great? Maybe something from the Cruise of Deception era? Bottom line - it feels like once John’s memorial is over and the returning fan favorites leave Salem… the show’s going to be dull again.
  16. Totally feel the same. Stacy’s fine, but this version of Kristen just exists for Brady’s storyline. No flashbacks, no real layers. Eileen always brought that extra spark - and her chemistry with Drake back in the day? So good. Definitely feels like a missed opportunity. Can you imagine Eileen’s Kristen walking in, all shaky, and just hugging Marlena? Both of them crying - like actual, messy, earned tears? That would’ve hit so much harder. Pure soap gold.
  17. Today's episode was sad 😢 Roman sitting with Kayla, thanking John for raising his kids… and Josh saying goodbye to a lifelong friend - total tearjerker 💔. Can’t wait to see Carrie, Sami, Hope, and Jennifer comforting Marlena. Bo and Marlena’s reunion is going to be so emotional. I guess because of the long-time rift between Deidre and Suzanne, we won’t get any Marlena and Maggie scenes? That’s really too bad. Maggie should be there.
  18. https://tvline.com/news/days-of-our-lives-john-death-explained-drake-hogestyn-1235451151/?utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawKrXXlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFreXpydFZQT3h1b3lQVFM4AR4ovqbIaNdi2bPPGk9VIYEdv-pqWeEv7KlJuwDBYHTT9Nhe5oivDctLPyYRoQ_aem_QKaZ_6nQU2X6FyM7QcZfvQ Eight months after longtime Days of Our Lives star Drake Hogestyn died following a battle with pancreatic cancer, the Peacock soap has revealed the fate of his beloved character John Black, a role he played regularly since 1986. In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”
  19. Wait, Sami didn’t get to say goodbye to John before he passed? That’s so sad.
  20. Huge kudos to the production team and the writers - we truly got to witness some beautiful and heartfelt moments between John’s extended family. DAYS really pulled off a touching and fitting goodbye for both Bill Hayes (Doug) and Drake Hogestyn (John). You could feel the love and respect for Drake throughout. He came across as a real “super dad,” deeply loved by so many. And Deidre... wow. So strong, holding it all together - she deserves her own standing ovation. A few thoughts that came to mind… I wish we got a short scene of Roman sitting with John - just to thank him for looking after his kids all those years (Carrie, Sami, Eric), and to acknowledge that John and Marlena truly belonged together. It would’ve been such a meaningful moment of closure. I kept hoping Kristen would sneak into John’s room to say goodbye - maybe apologize for all the pain she caused, and tell him she really did (or does) love him. But I get it - it wouldn’t be the same without Eileen Davidson. Still, how incredible would it be if Eileen came back for a few episodes and we got some classic flashbacks? And Sami. Where is Sami?! A goodbye scene between her and John felt essential - with her finally thanking him, and apologizing for all the heartache between them. So much history there. Really hoping we’ll see all of John’s kids and grandkids at his memorial - and also Maggie and Julie. Marlena could really use the support of those who’ve known her the longest.
  21. Wow... today's scenes with Christie and Deidre? I'm speechless. Carrie’s return to Salem came under such heartbreaking circumstances, but it was incredibly emotional - felt like real closure between Carrie, John, and Marlena. And you could tell those tears from both actresses were 100% real. John’s memorial is going to wreck us. tissues will definitely be needed 😪
