BTG: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Oh gosh, now Samantha feels like there are too many men around her and she needs a woman to talk to about her crush on this boy... so she decides she needs her birth mom to discuss it with?? Awful idea. June is just messing everything up at OG's all day.

Ted, NOOO! You can't come back from this haha. But I do love Leslie, so loved watching her get to him.

LOL, I know the feeling of googling an actor's name and you get unintentionally spoiled. That will happen with Marty, so don't do it. I won't spoil the big Marty story coming in 1993, but it's so interesting to know she was pretty evil in her 1992 start (I didn't remember much of her during 1992 since I wasn't watching consistently nor since read much about that time of OLTL). Susan Haskell! She's actually married in real life to Thorsten Kaye btw (AMC/B&B).

Oh gosh, now June is working at OGs. Well, at least she's trying and being given a chance. I sort of wish she's just go away though at this point.

Another question - I noticed the 1997 Emmy reel for Cynthia Watros included her wedding day with Alan. I haven't watched that full reel yet because I'm about to get to it in my watch and don't want to be spoiled. But I'm now to January 2, 1998 and that scene and their wedding hasn't happened yet. How did she get to include it in her 1997 reel? Does the eligibility year align more with when the Emmys are aired, so it's not a strict calendar year-end?

What is the background for Reva and Vanessa from the 80s? Were they friends, enemies, frenemies? I'm in December 1997 and they finally have a few scenes together 1:1 where they seem to be supporting each other like friends, but I've realized they've barely had any scenes together since Reva's return in 1995. I would have assumed Vanessa would be annoyed by Reva haha.

Hahaha I feel you. I feel that way about so many things when I have discussions with 20-somethings in my office building. It pains me. They don't even know these classic soap operas we discuss daily - never heard of them! Thankfully I at least know the name and face of Clark Gable, and the names of some of his movies, but I'd never think of him today if someone tried to dress as him at a party until someone told me.

My guess - it's an HR issue and they can't talk about it. Maybe he made someone uncomfortable or did something that was against the rules. That's all I can think of that would make sense at this point.

LOL, I'll side with you on this only because those characters are a little before my time. I honestly wouldn't have clocked Scarlett or Rhett/Clark had someone not told me. Vanessa does look great though in that scene! I couldn't figure Ross out either, as he just looks like a well-dressed man. Here is a snippet in case someone can figure it out:

Oh wow! See, I have a good eye for these things LOL jk. Ohh I didn't realize she played the teenage clone, that's interesting and makes sense. I feel bad for Budig in that situation then, because I think she's strong (I know, I'm biased a bit), but my gain since she got over to AMC with VI and Marj. Yes, I've actually seen that scene where they switch out the girls on the beach. Very interesting tactic, which Budig recently said she didn't like on the Soapy podcast. AMC did a very similar scene with the Babe recast back in the day.

That was the 1995/1996 NYE Masquerade Ball! What a terrific event that was. That's when Brent Lawrence kidnapped Lucy, but more interestingly when Frank Beaty had his mental snap mid-shoot and the Brent recast started taking over mid-party. You also had Alan-Michael as Zorro, Alex as the Queen of Hearts, etc. I think Matt looks handsome with that mustache

Blasphemy! I've really bought into the Michelle/Jesse love story! It's much better than her pairing with Zachary and I'm fully vested I also loved her early friendship with Abby, and how she would sign with her. You know who miner reminds me of? One of the younger Bianca's on AMC, during her anorexia storyline, which I think is when Lucci won her Emmy. Her mannerisms and voice are very similar to Miner, which... I didn't love haha. But again, I bet if I grew up with Miner and/or saw her in the aftermath of Maureen's death, I'd probably feel differently. While we're on the subject, do we know why Budig left GL? She didn't go to AMC for about a year after I think. I'm assuming she left on her own and wasn't fired?

I know it's an unpopular opinion here, but I just thought Miner was cold and unlikeable. I'm sure I would feel differently if I watched her deal with Maureen's death, or grew up with her in real time. But in my 40s now, watching for the first time, definitely don't think Budig is cold in this role - she's very spunky but naivety. Well that will do it LOL.

I'm curious to see how the other Michelle's are after Budig, but I'm surprised more people didn't enjoy Budig. Maybe it's because she was the first SORAS'ed version, but I think she's so good. She's been a much bigger part of GL than I ever realized Budig was back then. I know her most iconic role is AMC's Greenlee, but I have to say, she is killing it as Michelle Bauer too.
