Bill Cosby would like you to know he did not ask for special treatment that one time he asked for special treatment. Meanwhile, Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon, who worked on Fat Albert, bashed him on social media:

  3. It's thrilling. But it's just one in a series of wonderful things Obama has done that people said he couldn't do, starting with my rights.

Oh, I'm sorry, you misunderstood. You see, I really don't care what you call it - the fact remains that despite some nutty relatives we kept at arm's length, my parents saw to it that I had a very content, happy home life and no domestic damage whatsoever. I realize that up in meth country the mere act of not being the lady you previously described who is removed from a public pool by the authorities may make a person seem like quite a learned scholar, but down here in the big city we're not quite so easy to analyze and pigeonhole simply based on the length of our most recest ancestor's back hair. So while you may find yourself stymied and unable to easily catalogue or dismiss me or my personal history, rest assured it has absolutely nothing to do with our actual topic: the Cosbys and their fucked-up, demented family.

No, actually, it doesn't. My grandmother died before I was born, and my aunt was a distant presence in my life. As I said before, my home life with my parents was just fine, thank you. Why don't you find a single blanket offensive assumption about all of us and stick to it?

I didn't take it that way and I don't think you're an apologist, either. I was just clarifying my own background.

Oh, I'm sure they are deeply enmeshed in the dysfunction. My point is, it's not simply a case of them just being babes in the woods. They have clearly internalized Life With Bill, as opposed to alphanguy saying they're just noble innocents. At least in the case of Camille, there's been more than one accusation which suggests she stepped out of the way or shut her ears. That I can't let go. And my personal family life in my immediate home may be healthy, but my parents and their own homes, and their experiences of my aunts and uncles, my grandparents, etc. were deeply dysfunctional. My grandmother drank herself to death in and out of institutions and my aunt, who used to call me in the middle of the night when I was in college and rant about the evils of family, was brilliant but profoundly schizophrenic. Believe me, I am not coming out of the Brady Bunch.

That's not what I said. I think they may well love the man, but their family's image and their years of a life with him is the primary reason they can come out with a rock-solid defense, after a lifetime where the closest people to a person would have to know something.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I have a perfectly healthy family life. I condemn Camille and Evin Cosby for blindly supporting a man whose other side they must know something about, and dismissing over twenty victims. This has nothing to do with family, it has to do with denial and a conspiracy of silence in favor of material wealth and comfort. It's not different from the wife of Jerry Sandusky.

The Family Cosby continues to circle the wagons - the daughter is being trotted out to, like Camille, stay eerily on message and say "he is the FATHER you thought you knew." The remarkably identical statements strike me as very strange, personally.

Answer: The women your husband raped. It's been a very long day weekend. Therefore, I say: Shut up, old woman!

I have a sneaking suspicion Whoopi will duck her cowardly ass out. This is a new addition - it's on Twitter, but the DVR listing still has some prior scheduled fluff.

Beverly Johnson is on The View tomorrow - live. I have some insane work stuff tomorrow, but I am DVRing that [!@#$%^&*].

I get the sense Cosby's few remaining handlers really wish he had not said that.
  18. I wanted to post the latest parts of Joel Bocko's wonderful video essay on the entire show and phenomenon of Twin Peaks. These portions cover the mid-Season 2 doldrums post-Laura Palmer, and the third part deals specifically in the winter hiatus in which the show was nearly cancelled outright after Episode 23. Fans revolted, David Lynch returned from his time away and took to David Letterman to ask people to write Bob Iger, and the show got its reprieve to come back stronger. Included is rare archival footage, some of which is available - TP on Phil Donahue, etc. - and others I haven't seen in years, like the great "back to Thursdays" promo where Cooper wakes up from a bad dream about their recent timeslot ("Saturdays at 9, that is a bad dream!" Catherine Martell agrees, while the Man from Another Place capers in the foreground). Connie Chung also assures people she does not know who killed Laura Palmer. I don't totally agree with all of Bocko's analysis re: the Season 2 bad period (for example, I have more time for Bobby Briggs in the Horne circle than he does) but mostly I think he's very much on the mark. Leo, you're free to go!
  19. He's certainly livened up the show. His work reminds me a lot of what we might have gotten from the evil Cooper. That show's gone from aggressively mediocre to silly but fun and watchable for me over the last year, and it still has Clark Gregg and Ming-Na who are great, but I am much more looking forward to the Agent Carter miniseries that starts next month with Hayley Atwell and is looking great.

I grew up getting called "retard" for 18 years because I walked with a bit of a limp, it means nothing to me anymore (and I have no problem with the word). That being said, that or her behavior or her drug abuse has no bearing on whether or not Bill Cosby drugged and raped Janice Dickinson or dozens of other women.
  24. According to Jeff Giles' book, it was almost certainly Kale Browne.
