  1. He isn't. The minor outrage is because some people hoped the new series would change his ethnicity, which I could understand but do not find necessary.

Cos drops his suit against Beverly Johnson.
  3. I'm happy for him and I think he's a good choice. I just know it will take until he appears on the Luke Cage series for the Internet to stop shrieking because they didn't cast an Asian-American actor. (I would've been perfectly fine with that though Danny Rand is historically white and that's a substantial part of his backstory - admittedly a somewhat dated one which could've been modified. I just don't like when the Internet thinkpiece culture gangs up to try to wish something into reality with magical thinking and then becomes outraged when the extremely predictable opposite occurs, as though they were 'owed' it.)
  4. We shall disagree! I'm not trying to rid you of it, I just find it wildly implausible and unrealistic.
  5. Legendary character actor and regular Trek veteran Tony Todd (he played several roles, including Worf's brother Kurn and the aged Jake Sisko in DS9's incredible episode "The Visitor") claims to be on the short list for the new series. Would make sense, as Fuller got his start working on DS9 and VOY.
  6. EW claims Finn Jones will be playing Marvel's Iron Fist. Solid choice, if true.
  7. They've toned down most of the comic stuff a lot. In the books half of Carl's face is gone, there's amnesia, etc. - it was just ludicrous to me. IIRC they said here during Talking Dead that the bullet bounced off his cheek or something and shrapnel was what took his eye out, no brain damage. I got the sense that they had to do it but wanted to be done with it as quickly as possible. I think there's a lot of that brinkmanship with the source material which Scott Gimple usually executes well, IMO. (And Rick's epiphany about Alexandria was especially affecting in the previous week's episode, if you haven't seen it - really great stuff.) I don't know if Glenn is going to die but I doubt they'd have It could be Daryl, Abraham, Morgan or it could be Glenn after all. Who knows.
  8. That's awesome. Now it's Kyle's turn to troll. That's David Lynch directing someone - an "Al," very possibly Al Strobel (MIKE/the One-Armed Man), who was set to film.
  9. That's why I always make my DVR record an extra 3-5 mins. Fortunately I am here for you as I am for all mankind. Watch that to 1:55, then watch this for better quality:
  10. Mädchen Amick, Master Troll. Also: Jessica Szohr joins the cast.
  11. Vanity Fair on Richonne and TWD's overall multicultural evolution in a piece that I largely agree with.
  12. Happy Twin Peaks Day. Laura Palmer died this morning, somewhere around now, then washed up on the shore some hours later. To memorialize the date, here again is me forcing Joel Bocko's incredible Journey through Twin Peaks video essay upon you:
  13. This was apparently Danai Gurira's idea.
  14. Vee replied to Marco Dane's topic in Off Topic Lounge
No reprieve: Camille testifies at 9:30.
  15. It was a two month timejump, which helped.
  16. More stuff: EW talks to the deceased characters' portrayers from last week's photo shoot (except Larry Gilliard, who rarely does press) A cast roundtable about the Darabont Affair.
  17. Scott Gimple on the episode and Richonne. Andrew Lincoln and Gimple again talk to TV Line. I told you, Carl! I saw it coming three years ago. Danai talks to Variety. Also to WSJ. Andrew and Danai talk to THR.
  18. LOL, here comes Yvette Nicole Brown.
  19. I only knew about the very end, so it was astonishing how much of the episode was a very, very clear setup for that ending that really made it work and tied it all together. Everything Michonne went through with Spencer and Deanna, everything Rick said to Daryl really indicated how far they'd come and that they were both ready. I'm glad the script (and Danai on Talking Dead just now, this is the only time I've ever watching this) acknowledged that Deanna's final conversation with her in the first half of the season ("What do you really want?") was about Rick. I had gotten that vibe off the scene at the time back in the fall, but thought I was overthinking it. Glad I wasn't. Also glad DG said she could tell Scott Gimple had been building up to it over the last several years - so could I. Lookin' at you, Carl! (Our Carl) Just a lovely episode, even if it wasn't the most eventful. The characters deserved that.
  20. Watching live tonight! I wish I had some dice to blow on to make sure this pans out. Nice time-jump. Carl's fine. I can't! Denise is the best. I hope our Carl has gotten up to date on her and Tara.
  21. Rubio can't hack it.
  22. Nah, what's stopping Rubio is that he's not good enough and never was. I don't know if he's as crashingly inept as Mitt was or as tired and confused as McCain was in '08, but he's not good enough. I've never taken him seriously and I never will. There's always going to be a Beltway press that will stump for some of these guys and try to make them happen, but until the GOP completely flushes the lunatics and obstructionists out of their system - a process which will take years - I don't believe they will find a candidate for whom a manufactured Beltway narrative will actually match the man or woman trying to take office.

Camille is pulling out all the stops to try to avoid testifying tomorrow.
