  1. A damning quote here from the still underrated Tommy Davidson, who doesn't do enough stuff (and I think we went to the same school growing up, albeit many years apart):

When I landed In Living Color, I was a hot comic. A week before getting the job I had met with Lorne Michaels in his office in 1990 [for a potential SNL spot]. He lined it up for me and said, "I don't want a black comedian. Eddie Murphy was a mistake. I don't want a person that stands out." I was confused. I was born black. There's not a zipper in the back of this thing.

You sure love hijacking every thread on here.

It is a deliberate attempt to pull focus with outrageous statements on every single topic. It started with Passions and has moved into everything else. That's why the only move is to block them, stop replying and alert @Errol. Don't give them fuel. Same with our other troll who feels newly emboldened after a year of being cock-caged.

To be clear, that doesn't absolve SON of disciplining and/or banning them. It needs to be done.

It's fun! I don't watch these damn shows anymore but this board is a staple in my life at this point so let me have my fun.

We have to put up with these assholes everyday when you're not around and they spam the board. You might find it fun but it sucks. It's a [!@#$%^&*] headache because Errol almost never wants to ban anyone. Except Jonny. For a whole year. We had to basically occupy the admin post for a week to make that happen at all. So please, given the herculean effort to create any moderation here, at the very least don't motivate them.

  4. People deliberately misunderstood a recent French interview as claiming there would be no Season 4 - he doesn't say that, but a translation had him allege he thought the show was over. This was then immediately contradicted by this, where he says at the beginning he hopes to someday explore Cooper more.

  5. lol, Stafford came back because FV at GH did his usual re-up game and gave her a take it or leave it offer she didn't like. No other reason. Give me a break with this "she did it for Kristoff" shít. There is no basis for that. She was always gonna come back someday when GH dried up.

I'll believe Y&R is seriously reevaluating their black canvas when a) MM returns as Hillary, not some dumb doppelganger, 2) Ana has a storyline, and 3) Victoria Rowell gets an offer.

  6. I see it both ways. And I think his comments about not changing the system are the biggest mistake in this day and age. I understand his POV but we're past that now. Things have to change to survive. Maybe not in the way Sanders cult wants, but in a lot of ways, over time.

  7. I don't know that that's fair. I do think Jamey understands a lot of elements of soap structure and foundational stuff, and I've listened to him long enough to feel that way even when I vehemently disagreed with his opinions on contemporary soaps. (It was beyond me how he could quote stuff about classic AW, AMC, etc chapter and verse and get it right, yet still cut for Ron Carlivati's GH or various dumb stunts on latter-day Y&R.)

Like I said, I think there's nothing wrong with the characters and setup he has on this show - the bones are fine. It's clearly inspired by stuff like AW, which he adores. Now whether he is the best at executing that onscreen, or whether I agree with his taste, is another story and always has been. But it wasn't full tacky like HAHN. It was broad but not a total cartoon. And the dialogue wasn't all sheer camp but it was mostly very, very baldfaced exposition elevated by actors.

Anyway, there is a writing staff and it was a pilot. It was far from a work of genius but it was silly fun. So I'll watch again, why not.

  8. The last scene with Stephanie and Evan was pretty fun. It was an entertaining little show. I just wish the dialogue wasn't almost entirely load-bearing plot mechanics and character intro. Show, don't tell. The actors are doing it all for the script. I may come back for more, I'm curious how it evolves.

I can't believe the pilot randomly ended on a raunchy sex scene of the mayor taking the stylist from behind! That's the Jamey Giddens I know!
