Vee is right however that Sarah is cursed. She's like Serena; the show has thousands of chances to go there but they haven't (no matter how many times fans try to fancast it into happening). I don't know if it's backstage politics, disinterest, or both but it's, imo, never going to happen. Hayden basically made Sarah redundant.

The above is all true. I think it could easily go the other way though. IMO Hayden is redundant because the show failed to make her rooted last time. The relationship with Liz is nonexistent, so what is her link? Finn - he's nothing. Sarah Horton on DAYS was a cursed role too until they finally cast Linsey Godfrey. I'd be open to casting Dr. Sarah with Gina Tognoni even if she reads slightly old for it. Then it's game on. At that point Hayden becomes even more superfluous.

As for Serena, sadly Carly Schroeder is now off the table as she's gone into the military. But it could be done, they just won't. The Sarah role is much more radioactive because of two very poorly received actors. Serena is just disinterest.

There is no need to make Dev related to anyone. But they will. And no, there is no chance in hell Brenda Barrett's son is a Turkish pickpocket. (I'd have no problem bringing Alec on, but not as that)

  2. There is no interval in which Brenda could have borne a teenaged son of Sonny's; their brief reunion and marriage is too recent. Alec could be Jax's, as I believe she slept with him in 2002-3 (and had many other opportunities in later years when Jax went on and off-canvas). She never slept with Sonny during that stint, and didn't again until 2010 I believe.

  3. I think it's a bit more complicated. He seemed lovely going in with that beautiful family and a lot of great ideas, but we all mocked him after he took office because he became incredibly inept and tone-deaf. That crossed a lot of class lines, at least in terms of the perception of him.

Meanwhile, in the UK, a modest proposal:

  4. Emme is not a terrible actress but the character is nothing now and she's nothing in it. She had her shot. You don't keep people around for being 'okay' on a bad show, not with a character who should be integral like that on a show starving for strong younger female leads. You need a much stronger actress in addition to better writing.

And there is no way Jonathan will return again for an extended stint unless his career somehow bottoms out, the show changes dramatically (goes to streaming, etc.) or Tony returns.

A Nikolas recast is pointless. Stabile was a suburban dad.

Why are we stuck with random hot cop every few years when Lucky should be on the show? Frank recasts his pets but not Dante (what was the story with Dominic leaving? Did Frank lowball him and drive him off? They showed no interest in writing for him, personally ... once the Valerie/Lulu/Dante thing was a dud on arrival, they lost any interest in Lulu and Dante)

They had no interest in Dante ever since Ron and Frank took over. Dominic finally quit out of boredom and exhaustion. A total waste.

Chase has no reason to be here either, cute or not. But I also can't necessarily fault them for not recasting Lucky again. Once you somehow get Jonathan Jackson back (and then, amazingly, lose him again, thanks to Guza/Frons) I think that's it. He is Lucky and he destroyed the recasts. It would take someone incredibly good for me to even begin to accept it now. I think Lucky should have more of a recurring presence, but Jonathan won't do that.

Yes I liked Oscar and I dont feel he was bad but we will never agree on that & its ok

He was the worst young actor this show has featured, ever. It doesn't matter who he was related to by blood.

GH in the 80s and 90s had big casts but actually used them in umbrella stories and PC felt like an actual town.

It was also because the casts didn't largely suck. GH's cast today is mostly a disaster. There is no difference between the two anonymous white girls playing Willow and Sasha. There is next to no difference between Chase (I don't care if people like him, he's another bland hot white cop) and Wes Ramsey's awful character. The temp they kept around playing Joss because she is young, blonde and white is mediocre. Franco and Finn are both endless, expensive failures. NuJordan has no reason to be there. Valentin is the definition of lame but gets story after story after story. I can go on and on. That's not even getting to Sonny, Carly, Jason and Sam who can never be extricated but can be handled better.

I do not mind Hayden and her being a Webber but there is also room for Sarah.

There isn't room for both. Sarah is a cursed character, but even if you don't try her again (which can be done and should be, IMO) you don't need Hayden on the show, period. It's just an excuse to give Easton and Budig more airtime.

Soaps had huge casts in the 70s and 80's. Hell GH's cast was big under Wendy Riche. Issue is that they need a team BTS that can juggle the stories better and use characters correctly

No. Content is only part of the issue. Over half the characters/actors on this show are worthless and should be fired tomorrow. Starting with Kim, Drew, Franco, Willow, Sasha (who the fùck are they?), Finn, Valentin, NuJordan, etc.

Not watching but I do keep up with spoilers.  The only one the writers are remotely interested in is Devon.  Elena and Ana are extensions of him.  The only reason either character exists is to give Devon someone to interact with.  It has gotten to the point that I just laugh.  Ana gets no love interest and Elena gets no character development.  The writers are very clear with their diversity issues.  It is as clear as day.  How long can they keep this up?  I guess until they fire both actresses.

Yep. But I don't think they're interested in Devon either. I think absent much better writing, Devon only ignites as a character with the right partner. He had that and now she's dead. That doesn't absolve the show's responsibility and lack of interest in the black canvas, which they cynically try to placate by hiring people to surround Devon onscreen but do very little. It used to happen with Neil post-Dru, too.

  9. Watros had a very strong. likable last scene as Nina yesterday with creepy Valentin who really shouldn't be on the show anymore - summarizing the character. Stafford would've sent that little character soliloquy to the moon. I doubt it's enough to flip the Nina character longterm with this writing or the constant focus on keeping Valentin and other loser characters in her orbit, but she did well.

The medical bills story is ludicrous and so carelessly racist. Mac, Robert and Anna would never have had this storyline.
