    I remember the soap press at the time and I honestly have no recollection of them claiming Paul would go on beyond that recurring role. But it's been a very long time, who knows.

     

    I think Eve's fate was sealed as a psycho. IMO it was always coming from the beginning of Rena Sofer's run - I was waiting for her to turn nuts from the jump, and I was surprised it took as long as it did. I don't think they would've spared her that; I think she would've continued as a new antagonist on some basis.

    I thought Alexandra Paul's character was always clearly a short-term nut.

     

    I didn't know there was an alternate finale written. I do know they rushed that romance and happy ending for Jane and Kyle real fast (though I liked it).

    Like approximately 60-70% of the country, I will be watching Stranger Things 3.

     

    It is to my endless delight that this debacle with tanks, etc. may end up being rained out or flooded due to gale winds and storms. That's my hometown!

    But they have done a lot of that, within their power. They broke him on the shutdown. And Trump just failed on the census issue. Is it perfect, of course not. But there has been a real fight. It's far from hopeless, but it's a marathon, not a sprint. You can't be shocked and demoralized day after day, because that's how they wear you down. But there has been real movement in terms of Trump's numbers eroding, and the endless investigations driving him mad. I'd like impeachment too, but it's not time yet and in the meantime, it's important to keep grinding him down.

    I thought Mariah was supposed to be bi.

     

    But yes - they did this with her to keep her from gaining in popularity vs. other female leads they both find more conventionally attractive and whom they prefer to push instead. It's ludicrous that CG and Loren Lott are not being treated as central young female leads. Camryn is IMO the most seasoned younger female lead they have. Why neither she nor LL are seriously considered with Mealor is beyond me. The Kyle/Mariah thing was there at a glance months and months ago, and I barely watch this damn show.

    In case anyone cares:

     

    Rumor has it (comic spoilers)

    that the comic is doing a surprise ending this week, despite having been solicited as usual for future months to come. Rick was killed off an issue or two ago and turned after a scheming community member assassinated him in his bed, not long after he gave a rousing speech declaring to his fellow thriving survivors that "we are

    not the walking dead!" - a counterpoint to Robert Kirkman and Rick's own OTT nihilistic 'we are the walking dead' speech in early years of the book. Carl has taken his mantle as hero/budding leader.

     

    I haven't read the comic much in ages as I don't like Kirkman's writing style, but I thought it was worth noting.
