From that entire week we just need 5/15/89!

im praying we get the Phillip death episodes in English too! I know someone kindly added the French versions but I want to see the English ones eventually! Lol

I hope we get them in English too! Jess and Jeanne’s chemistry in those episodes is PALPABLE!!!

No I get it... that "I'm only 18 but I already have that hard look" thing. Is this the version of Nikki that Casey was talking about in that 1978 episode that just got uploaded? I can see her complaining that Nikki was entertaining too many men.

Yes!!! That’s exactly what she was talking about! I’m so glad I’m not off base hahaha!

Kay Alden says this in her emmy legends interview. She said Melody wasn't the right type, but they liked her. She also said the actress they had didn't turn up for work because she was too much like her character

LOL I was actually gonna say, the actress herself seemed a little “too perfect” for the role😂😂Figures

  3. Okay I may be completely off-base here, but just from seeing that clip of Erica Hope as Nikki with Paul, she seems like she could play the role of an “easy girl” (trying to be nice here LOL) better than Melody could. Erica looks like, from what I could see and also the weekly synopses I read that I can now now be able to picture her portrayal of, she had the right “look” of the easy girl that an everyday high school might see. I can see why they chose her for the role for that period of time. Melody seemed to bring more class to the role when she began. Even though she was still supposed to play the “easy” role at first, she still seemed to have a certain poise about it that Erica didn’t. Now mind you, I’m just going off of what I saw, but for me it doesn’t take too long to be able to figure a person out by being able to observe them...even if it’s just for a short time. Erica with Doug seemed like “the freshman in college tramp with the horny boy down the street”.  Anyone else following me or do I just seem to be pulling this stuff right out of my ass?😂😂😂

  4. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm reeeally hoping some wonderful person sees the Vault and adds full episodes or edits from 1978-80 concerning Kay and Jill and their storylines and also full episodes from 1983 with early appearances of Lauren, Brenda's first few weeks after her return, and pretty much the whole year LOL! I'm also hoping the end of June-early July 1987 show up with Jess Walton's first weeks as Jill and Phillip III's death from May 26-June 1, 1989. I lastly want to see all the episodes from 1994 involving Rex's shooting, death, and aftermath. If we get those, we'll be on easy street!

Yes you said everything that's in my head, im hoping we get to see at least see 77-81, I'm amped to see Vanessa shooting at Lorie but accidently hitting lance!!

Isnt there a scene where Lorie and Vanessa are fighting over brooks while in Lories hand, then i hear Brooks dropped?

yes!! i’ve always wanted to see the scenes you mentioned as well! i’m pretty sure he had to be rushed to the hospital and then Vanessa and Lorie blames each other. i sure hope someday we get to see it!

The only problem is that the people who recorded back then are likely in their late 50's to 70's by now, many of which probably know very little about transferring and uploading tapes, but we can always hope.  VCR ownership wasn't really all that common until the early '80s too, and add to that, how many of them still own a working VCR, especially the BETA format, but again, miracles do happen.  🙂

This is very true. I’m always hoping there’s that one person that will know what they’re doing and they will unearth all the great stuff we’ve been wanting to see! I sure was shocked to find the scenes that were being uploaded to the Y&R vault. I never thought we’d get to see stuff like that!

  6. I'm hoping this vault will bring forth people to upload episodes and/or edits from 1978-1980 concerning Kay and Jill and their storylines, and also both Erica Hope's and MTS's portrayals of Nikki. I, too, want to see scenes featuring Suzanne and Derek, together and separately. With the recent edits popping up, I'm certain there is someone out there that has stuff from '78-'80. Could you all IMAGINE getting edits surrounding Kay/Jill/Derek/Suzanne/Stuart/Liz and also Nikki/Casey, all from those years (especially 1979)? That would be such a DREAM!

  7. I really hope we get to see the scenes involving Victor’s faked death from ‘83! I wanna see the full scene where Eve slaps Nikki when Nikki says, “Victor would rather be DEAD than be married to you!” I’d also love to see the funeral home scene where Nikki causes a ruckus.

Heads up everyone - our beloved mystery 1982 uploader has now switched to adding files to the adjacent 1983 folder.

Praying for at least a glimpse of Lauren’s debut from 1/25/83!

And please please please let us see Madame Mergeron’s dramatic entrance to the Abbott home!

YES YES YES!! Would LOVE to see Lauren's debut! Was it her screen test or first scene that Tracey said that's what made Bill Bell create the "bitch" role for her?

  9. could you guys IMAGINE if stuff like the 1982 edits/episodes being uploaded would surface for 1978-80 and surround Kay, Jill, Suzanne, Derek, and Nikki?!?!? That would be SUCH a topper to all of this. Now that we’ve got the ‘82 stuff, I have hope that someday we’ll get just that.

Just imagine what all we could see!

Those clips are awesome... a HUGE thank you to whoever is our mysterious benefactor! It looks like it has Jerry Douglas' debut, Paul & Kay's first scenes together, and the scene where Allison Bancroft brings out a life size cut out of Nikki stripping... I've wanted to see that forever! 😅

    @ltm1997 check it out!

I gotta tell ya, this is a dream come TRUE seeing all these goodies from 1982!!! I have sooo enjoyed watching these episodes/scenes! I never imagined I’d be able to!! I don’t know if it’s just me, but the way Victor treated everyone back then like he was some God or something and they must follow his instructions literally made me want to go through the screen and punch him😂😂😂. I LOVED when Nikki told him to shut up! I never thought she’d do that! I am also loving the Kay/Alison feud. Those two had SUCH great chemistry together. It felt so real. Lorie just gets on my nerves lol...nuff said. I also very much enjoy Lynne Topping’s portrayal of Chris. She played her so soft and gentle, and she is very beautiful in my opinion.

Let me just say this...I’m only saying this because I’ve felt this way for years and I need to get it off my chest and I want to know if anyone agrees with me...Doesn’t Kevin (and Christopher Holder) give off a gay vibe to you or is it just me? I could honestly see him being a gay porn actor from the 80’s because he looked and acted the part in my opinion. 😂😂Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. He’s a little too light in his loafers lol.

A week of debuts would be great too... and some of these would be two episodes in one day.  So let's say Katherine, Paul, Nikki, Victor, Lauren, Ashley's first episodes.

OMG that would be awesome!! They definitely should do that! đŸ€©

The ultimate Newman family week for me would be Victor's first episode, Victor and Nikki's first meeting, Victoria's birth, baby Nicholas first appearance (his birth was off screen), and Victor and Nikki's hospital wedding (as that's the only one of their weddings that hasn't been rebroadcast).

    absolutely!

  12. Honestly they couldn't have picked Victor's debut episode from February 8, 1980 for Monday's episode?? He's the whole reason there IS a pack of Newman's! Ugh 🙄

And I agree with you all about them starting some kind of service where they upload all the classic episodes to a site, such as All Access or something like that. B&B's been doing it in the Netherlands! There's no reason why Y&R can't follow suit.

CBS/Sony have no idea what a gold mine they are sitting on with respect to 1970s/1980s/1990s Y&R.

SO true, ESPECIALLY with the Kay/Jill feud from the 70's when it was at its best!! The first 10 years were the best of Y&R, hands down! With the airing of the first 2 episodes and Kay's facelift reveal, I looked on the official Y&R's Facebook page and scoured the comments section of those posts and you wouldn't believe how many people wanted more or for them to start from the beginning! So there's definitely a market for it.

I was at a fan event about 5 years ago when a fan asked when will we be able to watch them all. Most of the actors on the panel were shocked they're not already streaming online. Someone pointed out that they'd all be on VHS.  Christian Le Blanc said he was pretty sure that it had all been digitized, or at least the vast majority of it. He said that was a big project CBS had undertaken relatively recently to convert the tapes. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. Maybe one day Y&R will get its own Pluto TV channel or be up on CBS All Access. It’s a damn shame it is not already

That would be a dream come TRUE if Y&R got its own channel or would be uploaded starting with episode 1 like they're doing in the Netherlands for B&B!!! They can't hold onto those shows forever.

They do exist in Sony’s vault. Sony’s predecessor, Columbia, was very good about saving all the episodes.

I would love to see a Best of Kay and Jill week (or three). You could show the episodes where they meet, where Kay hires Jill, where Philip and Jill fall in love, the “accident”, the blackmail, the manicure, etc.

Yes!! I would love that as well!! I so wish they’d delve deep and show them! Those are what we REALLY wanna see!

  16. I sooooo wish they’d air more episodes from 1973-80 with Jill and Kay’s powerful scenes together and apart. I often wonder where they get the “fan favorite” selections from, do the fans contact them themselves? I think they should just do a 70’s week for the show, or a “Best of Jill & Kay” week and show only episodes pre-1985. I also wish they’d just give in already and start streaming the first 11 years on some platform.

Then again, if we could find people that recorded the show from ‘75-‘84 on some video format (Beta, VCR, U-matic, etc.) and get them converted, that would also be an alternative for them not showing the episodes on TV.

And please refrain from telling me they don’t exist because there’s someone out there who has to have at LEAST taped the ‘78-‘84 era, since there are so many episodes of other soaps from this era.

'79 through '82 or '83 for me.  Lots of great stuff in there, and the storytelling really moved along.

    13 hours ago, Legacy said:

See all of those storyline right there I've always heard about but never got to see them, also add in Vanessa shooting lance and Lorie taking the fall for it lol

Yes!! So many wonderful storylines and episodes filled with action and drama. My biggest hope is that one day they’ll make the first 11 years of Y&R available for viewing on a streaming platform of some kind. If they won’t show them on TV then maybe they’ll stream them if enough of us ask for it. There’s sooo much stuff I would love to see, though my biggest hope is that they’d show it on TV. Honestly I think we should all contact them.

  19. I really wish they’d show episodes from 1979...I’ve said a thousand times that I think it’s the best year of the show. Oh how I’d love to be able to see the Kay/Derek/Jill/Suzanne saga play out in a two-episode back-to-back showing. I honestly believe they should do a best of the 70’s week and let the fans pick what episodes they want to see by doing a poll. I’d LOVE to see the full episodes also of Kay driving Phillip over the cliff, Jill attempting to attack Kay with a letter opener, Jill falling down the Brooks’ staircase, Jill performing the tracheotomy on Stuart, Nikki killing her father, Suzanne gaslighting Kay, and Kay revealing herself to Derek and Jill in her bedroom after their wedding. There’s so much more but that’s some of the good stuff.

Do you think if ALL of us contact them individually on some sort of platform, they’ll cave and show them?

I probably have the face lift episode on an old beta tape (would have preferred something else earlier than when I started taping in '82), but at least show #1 and #2 are a big plus!

Do you think you have episodes from 1983 as well?
