Bless your heart!! šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ what a great Christmas gift!! Reading the script definitely made me feel as if I was watching the episode! And great to have a final airdateĀ Ā for Brenda as well!

    Ā

What is the name of the Ā Y&R group?

I'm so glad you liked it! It's a Facebook group called "The Young and The Restless: The Classic Years". It focuses on the first 10 years of the show. It's really a great group! I really would love to find episodes or even compilations from 1979-January 9, 1980 featuring Jill and Kay and the storylines surrounding them. Finding something like that would be a goldmine!

  2. Just a little tidbit of information, a script was just posted on a Y&R group I'm in of Brenda Dickson's first final episode. It was episode #1730 and it aired Wednesday, January 9, 1980. The producer's notes at the end state it is "Brenda's final episode". Now if only we could get our hands on it! :D

It was taped on December 21, 1979.

    Here's the script:

Hi everyone - I made it back to Paley Center NYC again. I'm running out of old YR eps to watch, but found a couple more. This one is titled "Nikki, Rose, and Vince dump the dead body". Ā No date given, but I'm pretty sure it's from very late in 1979, right before the show expanded to an hour. Ā There is a cast listing in the credits, but it's not the full cast, only the cast appearing in this episode.

YRfan23 - the other one I watched was Danny and Cricket's wedding... recap coming soon :)

    Ā

    Here's my summary:

    Ā

Derek at the Chancellor mansion - he has a flashback to his conversation with Jill, where he tells Jill that her plan to have him sleep with Katherine backfired. Ā Jill says she is worse off than he is - stuck living at home with her mother, unsure if Liz will kick her out. Derek asks her - do you want me to stop pretending I want to be married to Katherine?

    Ā

Derek then has another flashback, to his conversation in the mansion with Katherine, in which he asks her to burn the audiotape. He says - if she will burn the tape, it will prove he trusts her. Ā Katherine says she does trust him - but that she's keeping the tape. It's a symbol to her, of her love and trust.

    Ā

Leslie asks Jonas if he is satisfied with the type of music she is playing. He said sure. She is annoyed that he isn't more communicative. Jonas says she is more lively since he told her to dye her hair blonde. She says she doesn't feel like a blonde. He calls her "Chris". She can't remember anything about her past. But she likes the "new woman" Jonas is molding her into.

    Ā

Lucas with Vanessa and Casey. Lucas can't believe Leslie called Vanessa. Vanessa said Leslie called to reassure Lucas, that she's all right, and to say how much she misses Lucas. Ā Vanessa walks out. Lucas is mad that Leslie didn't say when she's coming home or where she is, and doesnt think his marriage has much hope. Casey thinks Lucas is too fatalistic.Ā

    Ā

Rose pulls up with her carĀ outside the hotel employee entrance. Ā Nikki and Vince carry the "john" out to the car. Nikki wants to go home but Rose pulls her in. They drive off.

    Ā

Derek and Jill at dinner. He tells her that their last meeting was audiotaped. He doesn't know who taped them... it wasn't Katherine, but Katherine does have the tape (but hasn't listened to it). Derek's plan is to make a new tape, and replace it with the first tape. She is skeptical but needs her help. She agrees. Derek almost knocks over a water glass (don't think that was in the script :)

    Ā

Nikki and Vince in backseat with corpse, Rose driving. Rose has the heat blasting to keep the corpse warm, so cops can't figure out the time of death. Rose tells Nikki this is all her fault. Ā They dump the corpse in an alley (this is filmed on location). Ā Car pulls away. A young man walks up to the corpse and steals his wallet. Right then, cops pulls up and chase the young man. END.

    Ā

    Cast:

    Derek Thurston: Joe LaDue

    Kay Chancellor: Jeanne Cooper

    Jill Foster: Brenda Dickson

    Leslie Brooks Prentiss: Victoria Mallory

    Jonas: Jerry Lacy

    Lucas Prentiss: Tom Ligon

    Vanessa Prentiss: KT Stevens

I totally agree i would love to see episodes from 1979, especially after after hearing some audio recordings from that year!

    Ā

I wouldnā€™t be surprised at this point that if they do have an archive department (which Iā€™m sure they do) that the people who work in it probably rather watch stuff from like 2013-present, lol

    Ā

    Ā

I would really love to see the Derek/Jill/Kay/Suzanne storyline scenes from that year, even if all of there was a compilation of just those scenes.

I'd really love to go to the Paley Center, too!

  5. From the weekly summaries I've read on Tumblr of Y&R, 1979 was the BEST year of the show, HANDS DOWN. Each character had the best storylines that year and each week was jam-packed with drama continuously. From the Kay/Jill/Derek/Suzanne saga to the Nikki/Casey/Nick storyline. I soooo wish we could find full episodes of that year, I'd give anything. I wonder how much fun it is working in the archives department at CBS (if there is one). There's got to be some episodes out there!

  6. I hope somebody uploads the weeks of March 11-15, 1985 and March 18-22, 1985....reason being these episodes feature (I'm pretty sure) the hunt for Ashley and also Victoria falling down the Newman Ranch staircase with Jack coming to the rescue. I also would love to the the week of June 22-26, 1987, Jess Walton's first week as Jill.

  7. The 2 February 1984 episodes are full of great scenes! I particularly enjoy the scenes between Rick and Nikki, and also the scenes featuring Lauren. You can see how mischievous she is with her facial expressions and attitude. I love how Amy even said at one point, "You're a mean, vindictive person, you know that?" That pretty much summed up Lauren's character for the first 7 or 8 years that she was on! I hope more episodes surface from February and March, I'd love to see the scenes of Nikki getting rescued!

  8. I'm so hoping that the entire months of March, April and May 1985 will surface someday! If someone taped one episode from this era, I can't see them just stopping at this one! There's got to be more out there and by God we'll find them! LOL

Another surprise for you all! thanks again to the wonderful @ltm1997Ā here's another 1985 episode! :D (I sort of speculated the airdate based on some summaries I looked over, so it may not be correct)
    Ā

    Ā

No problem!! Note my favorite background music cue starts at 4:38. :) I wish we could find the episodes that aired during this month that involve baby Victoria's fall down the stairs at the ranch and Jack comes to the rescue! The clip I saw involves the music I mentioned as well.

  10. These episodes are great!!! I wish we could find the 1989 ones surrounding Phillip III's accident/death. I have the French versions of those episodes and the acting during those scenes is remarkable! I can only lipread a little though HA! The airdates run from May 26th-June 2nd. The May 30th-June 1st episodes have the best acting.

Also, does anyone remember the infamous scene where Dru, Lily, and Malcom are having a confrontation about some situation (I can't remember) and at the end of the scene, Lily runs off crying telling Malcom to get out and Dru has the breakdown where she slides down the bookcase in tears? It used to be on YouTube but it got removed. I've been looking for that for a lifetime! In my opinion, it's one of VR's best scenes!

  11. I received my 1980 episodes and the 1991 episodes surrounding baby Dylan's death and you will all be seeing them posted later today! I'm going to send them to @YRfan23 to post onto YouTube so then he can post them. I'm not familiar with uploading LOL!

Everything with Katherine in 1979 sounds totally bonkers! Poisoned chocolates, visions of spiders, faked death...very gothic

There are audio clips from some of the Katherine ghost storyline floating Around, but I always wanted to see those full episodes too...after that twitter account with all the Days episodes from 1984-present popped up, Iā€™m wish a similar one for Y&R one emerged with every single 70s/80s episodes!! Lol

1979 was also when all the crap hit the fan with Leslie marrying Lucas to hide theĀ fact she was pregnant by his brother Lance. Lorie finds out and goes ape. Leslie later goes bonkers and leaves Lucas and Lorie to raise her son Brooks Prentiss. Lance is in the dark the whole time about being the father (it would be 1982 when he finds out)Ā and Vanessa plays a game of cat and mouse with Lorie threatening to reveal all.

    Ā

Nikki slept with her college professor, killed her father, married Greg Foster and joined Rose Deville's modeling agency not knowing it was a front for a cat house. One of Nikki's John's dropped dead of a heart attack and the body was dumped in an

    alley.

    Ā

Jill trapped Stuart Brooks who loved her mother LizĀ into a sham marriage by faking a pregnancy.

    Ā

1979 was one heck of a year for Y&R.

Ā I'm convinced that someday they will surface! If there's one episode I'd kill to see from '79, it's the one where Kay reveals herself to Jill by crashing through the glass terrace and orders her out of her bed!! I'm listening to that audio now as we speak and it's terrifying, I can only imagine what it looks like!:o

Sounds great. Thank you again for sharing this material with us.Ā

    Ā

No problem guys! Now we all just need to get our hands on episodes from 1979, which was one of Y&R's best years in my opinion. I'm reading the weekly synopses from the Tubmlr page and I'd give anything to see the full year! Someone out there has to have it!

  14. Just got word, my 1980 episodes are going to be shipped out tomorrow, so you'll all be seeing them within the week! :D One thing, though, apparently only April 14 and June 16, 1980 are the only full episodes, the April 16th one is only a repeat scene from the 14th supposedly. But, Bond Gideon plays Jill in the April 14th one. I also purchased a few episodes from November 1991 surrounding Lauren's baby, Dylan's, death and her grieving. Those should be heart-wrenching. Stay Tuned!

  15. Just got word from Bond Gideon's husband, who is a fellow member of a Y&R group that I'm in that focuses on the classic years, and he said that he managed to get the three 1980 episodes on DVD (I haven't ordered mine yet, as I'm waiting for the person to get back to me), and he posted some great news, here it is (directly from his post):

    Ā

Delighted to announce the 1980 DVDs came in yesterday from Lisa M from Edmonton, Canada. Quality audio and video. My wife (Jill # 2 - Bond Gideon) had four scenes in the June 16 video - two with her Y&R mother Julianna McCarthy and a couple with John Abbott (?Brett Halsey?) where she is showing Jill Foster's ambition by using two kinds of blended lipsticks on the test model and owner Abbott comes in and tells her to follow the rules but she makes a convincing argument to enhance the product line and he says as he leaves that he will run it through R&D. She was not in the first April videos. There are some scenes with Nikki Reed (Melody Scott) and nervous Greg (Wings Hauser) in which he is hiding out because someone is trying to kill him and sobbing Nikki character is leaving him . There is one with Derek (Joe Ladue?) and Katherine (Jeanine Cooper) where he is playing a con game on her to become part of her company after they got married . There are scenes involving a scheming bearded character named Sebastian who is trying to get money from (?blond haired character I dont know) for some South American project. There's another with a good looking guy with blond hair named Paul who sleeps around and his 16 year old sister who is going on her first date and her brother Paul gives poor kid the third degree when he comes to pick the girl up. There's another with Victor Newman and ? So many different scenes going back and forth and since I didn't watch Y&R I had no idea what was going on. I will show them to Bond tonight but I watched them around 2 am as I am a night owl. She will be pleased.. So if anyone else out there has any other DVDs from the February to July or August 1980 time frame that has Bond in them please contact me This is the first time I have ever purchased converted Y&R DVDs, I highly recommend this Lisa M as a reliable source of Y&R DVDs.

  16. Is it just me, or are 1977-1983 the best years of Y&R? As for the most action/drama packed, I'd have to say 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1983 are the top 5 (in no specific order) for the show's entire run. Personally, my two favorite years are 1979 and 1983; '79 being because of the Kay/Derek/Suzanne/Jill storyline in its peak with all that transpired during that year, as well as Nikki and her shenanigans, '83 being because it's Lauren's first year, the whole Victor/Nikki/Kevin/Allison/Rick/Julia/Eve saga, and some memorable scenes between Kay and Jill (such as the one where Jill faints while fighting with Kay about her pregnancy) and the Traci/Diet pills saga where she has the car accident. I personally have never seen full episodes of 1978-81 and have only seen edits from 1983. What do you all think?
