OH MY GOD PLEASE TELL ME YOU HAVE THESE EPISODES! :o :D :D

Can anyone tell me what happened to the arrivals of 1978 episodes that I had seen talked about on here, is there any chance those episodes will get posted on here or do we need to personally buy them?

I'm the one who bought the two episodes (one was from March 3, 1978 and the other is from August 22, 1975 (not '78)) and I'm having them transferred now and should have them back soon. Then I will share them!

  3. I wonder if Kay will be ranting to Brock in her hotel suite about Jill living in her home in the 1975 episode. And as for the 1979 synopsis, Derek and Suzanne lived at the mausoleum while Kay was presumed dead. When Kay haunted Suzanne, it was while Suzanne was living in Kay's home with Derek and had Liz as the housekeeper to keep tabs on Derek and Suzanne.

Yeah that would be nice to figure out! I wouldn't mind having some copies of certain scripts! if only it were the same for the actual Tapes too! LOL

Tell me about it! LOL I'd get everything they had 😛

Thanks!  I Have that page saved on my bookmarks actually and using various 70's scripts found online that can be brought, it does help track some dates, hard to say what's 100% accurate though...

Ohh that sounds great about getting copies of the scripts! it can get pricey, but $15 isn't too bad....I wonder if they can just send them via email?

I hope it's not too expensive, my friend wasn't totally sure that the price was $15, so don't take my word for it. I'm gonna email them Monday and get the lowdown on pricing and how they are delivered.

It's definitely easier to track dates from 1986 onward, since I have that French Episode guide, but 1973-1985 is still tricky especially since not knowing when the show was preempted those days, is difficult......I'm still wondering if they preempted a lot for Watergate coverage in the show's first year??

That's a good question. Actually, my friend found a website (UCLA) that has scripts from the first several years of Y&R. Here's the link:

    https://oac.cdlib.org/findaid/ark:/13030/tf5199n9tb/?fbclid=IwAR21LTjzighz6YI3wS977UXYFVCACLZbngalPX0_uCyxiEBuA_yKlAm_UnU

If you make an account, I'm 95% sure you can fill out a request form for a copy of the scripts. There is a fee but the friend I talked to said it would probably be $15.

Haha I’ve gotten many dates myself where the wrong days were given and I admit im a perfectionist in that regards, but it’s also fun to see what dates they end up being myself! :D

I'm the same way as far as dates go! I like to have the exact dates and the right ones as well! ;)

It always seemed like they would remember Phillip every Memorial Day...but they could have pushed back his actual death... it’s difficult to find full monthly synopses from 1975...maybe it’s more fun just to be surprised though?? Lol

I love surprises! As soon as I get them transferred, I will let you know!

Woohoo!!! That’s so great!! 😁😁😁 oh man I’m even more excited now! Seeing those episodes will definitely be a treat!! Seeing those old master tapes feels like they came out of the CBS archives!

thats interesting about the August 22 date. I wonder if it’s a mislabel because i always thought Philip died on Memorial Day 1975??

I'm really excited as well! And I've heard conflicting stories. Some have said it was August 15 and some have said it was Memorial Day. I wish we knew!

  10. Hi all, great news! I just bought the master tapes I was telling you all about. And one more thing, the Friday, August 22 tape isn't from 1978, it's from 1975! And the Friday before that, Phillip Chancellor died! So let's hope we will see some scenes concerning that with Kay and Jill!! Here are some pictures of what the tapes look like from eBay!

    So exciting!!

Here's a preview of what we might expect to see, courtesy of the weekly recaps on the Daytime Royalty site.

    WEEK OF FEBRUARY 27 - MARCH 3, 1978
    THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
    (12:00pm - 30 minutes - CBS)
Derek crudely told Kay to forget the new salon and their marriage. Greg advised the marriage may not be annulled if it was consummated, even while drunk. Nancy was convinced she was making progress with Karen while Chris was convinced the child wants Chris to be her mother. Lance stayed to comfort Leslie after she walked out during a concert. An agent wanted to promote Lorie’s book.

    WEEK OF AUGUST 21 - AUGUST 25, 1978
    THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
    (12:00pm - 30 minutes - CBS)
Kay didn’t respond to paralysis tests and accused Derek and Brock of staying by her side out of pity. Stuart was distracted by thoughts of Jill. Leslie told Lucas to think of her baby as his. Larry warned Linda to stay away from their children. Casey worried that Nikki hates herself because of her VD.

I hope we see Erica Hope, too! :D

I cannot wait to see which characters are in those episodes!!

Omg!! That’s too good to be true!!! I would never imagine to see as much 70s stuff as we’ve been given! (Including  the episodes at Paley) super excited when you are able to get those episodes!! 😁😁

maybe this time we will see Erica Hope as Nikki!!

I know right?!?! I'm so excited to see them as well! I'm hoping to see some scenes with Kay, Jill, Nikki and Casey!

Thats amazing!! Are they for sale ??

Yep they are! I'll be buying them at the beginning of February and as soon as I get them, I will be sending them away to a company that will transfer them to DVD. Whenever I get the DVDs, I'll let you all know so they can be shared! :D

Looks like an old script from March 28, 1977 is being offered on this page, along with the actual cassette! It's from the estate of director Richard Dunlap.
    https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/young-restless-tv-production-tape-1953128413

Unfortunately, that tape has already been sold. But GREAT NEWS, I contacted the original seller and he said he has more master/production tapes of Y&R in his archive!! He said he will list them all for me tonight so I will keep you all posted!

  15. I really wish we could find episodes from 1979, as it's been 40 years since that explosive (and the best IMHO) year of the show! Also, I wish we could find the episodes dated May 26-June 1, 1989 dealing with Phillip III's death since the 30th anniversary of that is coming up as well.

Ah ok, I've heard of that group! unfortunately I'm kind of weird about joining any soap FB group, because there's certain people I know who don't know I watch soaps....I know that sounds a little silly, but I'm kind of sensitive in that regards! LOL

But that script was surely a treat and that was nice of them to acknowledge it was Brenda's last at the time, and wanted to give her a warm ending....I'm sure 7 years later it was quite the opposite....

I know some of the tape stuff was shown on the episode at Paley, but I'm not sure of the specifics? so there were two recordings of Jill and Derek I presume? one where he professes his love to Katherine (that's in the episode you just posted) and one where it looks like Jill and Derek were going behind Kay's back (and I guess was the one Katherine thought she was going to play for everyone)

Brock calling Liz "Mom Foster" is such a Bill Bell line...

was the private detective Brock hired Carl? I know this was around the time he first came on with Mary.

Apparently Brock was trying to get Kay to realize that Derek was up to no good with Jill and that he was only in love with Kay for her money. So he tape recorded Jill and Derek's conversation of them trying to plan ways to manipulate Kay in order to get their hands on her money. Well, from what I can piece together, Jill and Derek caught wind and made a tape themselves of Derek claiming to love Kay and ending it with Jill. Derek and Jill then hired Douglas Austin to crack the safe and replace Brock's tape with their own tape in order to manipulate Kay even more into believing that Derek really loves her, putting themselves closer to the money. Well the night that this private tape-playing event took place, they were hoping that it was the tape they had made, and to their delight, that was just what it turned out to be.
