These are the dates of the scripts I'm getting: -February 20, 1979 -February 27, 1979 -April 26-27, 1979 -May 28-June 1, 1979 (still waiting for confirmation of this) -July 23-27, 1979 (still waiting for confirmation of this) -November 19-23, 1979 -January 28-February 1, 1980 -February 4-8, 1980 -March 24-28, 1980 -January 20-21, 1983 -January 24-25, 1983 -June 27-July 1, 1983 (still waiting for confirmation of this) -December 12-16, 1983 Reasons: -February 20/27, 1979 (I want to see which date is really MTS's first airdate since both dates have been thrown around). -April 26-27, 1979 (I want to see if Kay stabbed Suzanne that week on a Friday (27th) or not) -May 28-June 1, 1979 (I want to see which dates Nikki and Jill/Kay are featured because this is the week Nikki killed her father and Jill taunted Kay in the sanitarium). -July 23-27, 1979 (I want to see which days Jill and Stuart are on because this is the week Jill performed the tracheotomy on Stu). -November 19-23, 1979 (I want to see which episodes Kay, Derek, and Jill are in because this is the week Kay reveals she isn't dead to Derek and Jill). -January 28-February 1, 1980 (Bond Gideon debuts at some point during this week; I want to see which episode it is). -February 4-8, 1980 (I want to see which characters are featured in the first hour episode and the rest of the week). -March 24-28, 1980 (According to the weekly synopsis, Bond and Jeanne share a scene during this week). -January 1983 episodes (Each of these 4 dates have been named as Lauren's first airdate; I want to see which one is the real one once and for all). -June 27-July 1, 1983 (This is the week Traci dumps the sundae on Lauren; I want to see which date it is). -December 12-16, 1983 (This is the week Jill faints at Kay's and finds out she's really pregnant; I want to see which dates this happened).

Thank you for mentioning this...I, too, have some scripts coming from the same place (only the first page of each) from the 1979-1983 era and it didn't even cross my mind about possibly getting caught by uploading them. I'll definitely keep this in mind from now on.

What do you all think it would take for Sony to sell the Y&R archives to Bradley (or the Bell family)? Is there any way it could possibly be done?

They probably learned their lesson from Y&R then lol, unless I’m completely misunderstanding. Thank you for this! Just imagine if all of these were Kay and/or Jill edits….one can dream LOL.

Oh, I never knew Sony was previously Screen Gems. Thank you for clearing that up! So then I wonder why B&B was never owned partially owned by Sony as well…or was/is it???

Figures...I wonder why the Bells sold the show to Sony... Yes, I definitely agree!!! I wonder what it would take to get the show sold back to Bradley and what the terms of the original Sony contract were. Could you imagine seeing each episode from the first moment in perfect quality!?!? It would be just amazing!!! Think of all we haven't seen yet and have just either read about or heard minimal audio of...

Don’t know if this has been discussed yet on here or not, but can somebody PLEASE tell me the reason why B&B has been uploading every single episode (by premieres) from the show daily and is now on episode 527 and Y&R hasn’t done it yet??? It’s truly so frustrating because we all know that every single episode of Y&R has been saved and is just sitting in archives with nothing being done with them. They don’t understand what a goldmine they’re sitting on.

This user is uploading edits from the 70’s and early 80’s, I think of just storylines surrounding Lorie that we’ve seen before, but in somewhat better quality. There’s also opening and closing credits from the February 1, 1982 episode!

I'm still waiting for the day this happens...it amazes me how much there is of other soaps from the 1978-1984 era (more so 1978-1981 and 1983-February 1984 because those seem to be the years with the least material overall, besides the stuff that's in the vault). My dream come true would be if the following showed up: Full Episodes -January 1978-December 1981 (mainly episodes featuring either Jill, Kay, Nikki (up until right before she meets Victor), Eve, Lorie (only from November-December 1981 involving Vanessa) and Julia) -January 1983-February 1984 (mainly episodes featuring either Jill, Kay, Nikki, Lauren, Eve or Julia) Edits -Kay and Jill edits (1978-1980, 1982-1984) -Jill Foster edits (1978-1981) -Kay Chancellor edits (1978-1981) -Nikki edits (1978-1981 (pre-Victor)) -Lauren edits (1983-1984)

Oh how I so wish we could find more episodes or edits from 1980…it would be so wonderful to see these scenes and storylines played out. They must be out there somewhere!

I love everything about this scene...it used to be on YouTube many many years ago when I first started going on there. It appeared in the vault, but this version is much better quality than the one in the vault. I LOVE how devious Katherine is in this and how Jill is trying to play the innocent mother-to-be card. Ironic that Kay calls Jill devious, but that's how she's playing this dialogue out to try and get Jill to spill the beans... Also notice how Brenda is channeling 70's Jill here, very soft and innocent.

From what I've read, seen, and heard, it's a tie between 1979 and 1983 for me.

Thank you guys so much for all of this info. I definitely think there is Y&R out there. Why the episodes haven't already surfaced, I'll never know. I wouldn't even know where to start searching for them, truly. Maybe I'm typing in the wrong search terms, who knows. I've looked at various trading/selling pages with no luck. You're definitely right about there may be people out there who have passed away and their tapes got lost in the shuffle or sold. Maybe I'm hoping for too much lol. I've posted on a few forums that I'm looking for Y&R from 1979-80 and 1983 and I've come up with no replies on that as well.

That would be such a shame if they reused the tape with the full episodes, but I understand why they would with tapes being as expensive as they were. As far as the difficulty to find episodes of Y&R from the early 80's, I'm as puzzled as you are, especially for the early 80's (1983, specifically). There are plenty of episodes from that year concerning other soaps, especially on this site (https://soapoperas.webs.com/) (get a load of how much GH there is from 1980-84 and of AW and GL). It just makes no sense to me why we can't find more. I'm partial to 1983 because it's one of my two favorite years of the show (the other is 1979, just from reading synopses, hearing audio, and seeing some video). I sometimes wonder if there really is anyone out there that taped from 1979-1981 and 1983 that still has the full episodes.

I wondered myself if the vault clips from 82-88 were from full episodes that were edited down. It would be amazing if we could find the person that originally taped them and they still had the original tapes! I’m certain there is soooo much great material to be seen that didn’t end up in the edits. Well “mysterious taper”, if you’re out there and reading this, please consider finding, digitizing, and sharing the original tapes! It would be so much appreciated!

You’re probably right, it’s now just about somebody like the Obsolete Video guy locating them. I’m sure there’s someone out there with a collection of Y&R out there from the years I mentioned. I think it’s more likely to find episodes from 1983, but really who knows after that 1978 episode was posted. I’m definitely hoping for more.

Do you guys think there are episodes from 1978-80 and 1983 out there that people taped in some format (VHS, Beta, etc) that haven’t surfaced yet? Or is that too much to hope for? lol. It seems that there are more episodes out there of other soaps from those years than Y&R.

To the Angel that uploaded the full confrontation from January 1984 between Jill and Kay where Jill accuses Kay of sending the pictures, THANK YOU SO MUCH!😍 I have been looking for that ever since I saw it on YouTube over 10 years ago and then it was deleted! I've watched it like 10 times already! 🤣🤣🤣 Hopefully there's more rare stuff to come from the '83-'84 era!

Like it’s such a shame that it seems that episodes from 1983 are very very scarce. I’ve really only seen one full one and that’s the one where Patty shot Jack, and that’s already in the vault. I hope more surface someday, it truly was such a great year of the show. My favorite year, besides 1979. Yay!!!😁😁

I’m reading these weekly recaps from 1983 that @will81has been posting, and all I can think is, “GOD HOW I WISH WE HAD THESE FULL EPISODES TO BE ABLE TO SEE THIS ALL PLAY OUT!!!” I especially would love to see Lauren’s first few appearances, the complete Patty shooting Jack storyline, Brenda’s first month back as Jill, the scenes where Nikki confronts Eve and Julia (separately) after finding out about Victor’s “death”, and the full scenes where Lauren orders the sundae for Traci and in turn Traci dumps it on Lauren’s head! Can’t wait for the rest of the recaps! Thanks again @will81!!!
