  1. Yes. There is an ugly, spiteful streak among his core supporters. Anyone who has stuck with him this far is beyond hope when it comes to feeling compassion for anyone else. These horrible people want to leave Grandma homeless while the Grandbabies die. Like someone up thread said, I truly hate them all.
  2. It'll be interesting to see where everyone stands. I truly have no idea. If I had to guess I'd say all the republicans and some of the democrats will vote against net neutrality, but I hope I'm wrong. I guess at this point I think all of the Republicans are bought out bastards and there are probably a few dems right there with them. Like you I don't assume we will survive this. We'll see if we get a relatively free and fair election in 2018. If so, there's hope.
  3. What a depressing read. Not just that there are so many people down and out, but that our government is actively making it worse. We should be attacking these problems, but instead the safety net is being further slashed. It's madness. I wondered that too. I don't know for sure, but perhaps he can restrict the language at government institutions. If it's illegal to do so, I'm sure the ACLU or someone will bring suit. Sometimes it's hard to believe this is real life.
  4. Yeah, this is disturbing. I imagine the CDC will lose a lot of their top people soon. What self respecting scientist will work under these conditions? If and when sanity returns to our government checks and balances will have to be strengthened so that this kind of thing doesn't happen again.
  5. ^ I can't be surprised Nebraska is on the list. It's always a little sad to me when we aren't even as on point as Iowa.
  6. He absolutely should. The democratic party overall should. Some of those long lines people where standing in reminded me once again how unfair things are. Charles Barkley was right that the democrats should be doing more for POC and poor white people. I also agree with you that the democratic party should probably give up on some people, poor white evangelicals in particular. If they want to live and die over the abortion issue I don't think anyone can stop them. Hopefully, Jane is right and more people will wake up.
  7. I know, I was responding to Drangonflies. White evangelicals are obsessed with it and I don't see any way to change that. I guess over time there will be fewer of them, but its still a sticking point to progress.
  8. I think it was Carl who mentioned abortion upthread. That issue really is one that holds our political system hostage. At times I forget how many people are stuck on it. Then a couple of days ago someone asked Ben Sasse about Roy Moore and he said "People can be against both partial birth abortion and pedophilia". Basically equating Jones and Moore.
  9. I hope the women who came forward about RM are in a safe place over the next few weeks.
  10. ^ Right. This was a victory, but the voter suppression is absolutely shameful.
  11. This one is good too. Hell, yes!!
  12. Yes!!! That's what I think too. If I weren't a Luddite I would post that song September, by Earth, Wind and Fire. The tide has turned.
  13. This really is a miracle brought about by the black women of Alabama and everyone else who had the sense not to sink low enough to vote for someone who put their hands on little girls. My cynical heart is warmed.
  14. I'll never understand how people can say President Obama was only President to half the country and then claim to not be racist. He tried to be President to everyone. He did more for the working class of all races than Trump ever will. Conservatives are always saying how divisive he was, but what action did he ever take that was divisive? His mere existence as a black man doesn't count.
  15. And this! The Paul Ryan faction of the party know Trump is a danger and embarrassment, but they'll do anything to get their agenda through.
  16. Preach it Wendy. Let's add to all this that : 1. Trump lies constantly. I have never seen a more shameless and prolific liar in my entire life. 2. A free press is the corner stone of democracy and Trump is constantly trying to undermine it. 3. He retweets white supremacists and Muslim hating extremists, which is obviously a tacit endorsement. He has ripped the social fabric of our nation apart. 4. He is bringing us to the brink of war with North Korea. 5. He is contemplating starting an intelligence agency that is loyal to him personally. Think on that a bit. What's next, secret police? 6. He is giving ICE a free hand to terrorize people including sick little girls. What kind of human being hounds a scared little girl in her hospital bed? The kind I don't want holding a badge and gun, but these types thrive under Trump, Remember in history class when they talk about the holocaust and warn you that if you aren't vigilant it could happen again. Yeah, this is who and what they were talking about. The only thing those of us resisting are doing wrong is being too complacent. I see now how the Nazi's came to power. Step by step the evil becomes normal and it's hard to do anything about it on the individual level.
  17. I don't keep up with her at all. Just that story made her sound kind of unhinged, but sure, it could all be fake.
  18. Clearly something is wrong with her in the literal sense. You don't change positions like that overnight unless there is some kind of imbalance going on, imo. "Off your meds" has sadly become a put down, but it does sound like she has untreated mental illness.
  19. ^ There are a lot of people at the end who dispute her claim, but that picture speaks for itself. Who does that?
  20. I agree. She should have been on there. That lady has been through hell and back again.
  21. This would have surprised me a little, but once I heard about all the rules in place to protect predators in congress, I knew there would be a lot of them. It's really sick what a person has to go through even to file a complaint. Some of these guys are really off the rails like the guy asking for "surrogates". We have to hope war doesn't break out again. Gaza isn't so much an open air prison as a play pen. So many children and no where to hide when the bombing starts.
  22. When families stuck together except for all those black families that were separated upon sale. I guess they don't count. Moore needs to see the inside of a jail cell, but he won't. Can you imagine how many victims haven't come forward because they are living in this backwards world he inhabits?
  23. Or maybe I am. There are so many allegations against so many people at this point it's hard to keep track. I agree the sentence has to fit the crime, but of course none of these people will see a jail cell and Moore certainly should have (along with disbarment). Everyone should lose their job for groping, especially lawmakers. Yet they seem to have more protections than anyone else, along with a tax payer funded slush fund to deal with settlements. The whole thing is incredibly corrupt.
  24. ^ More than woman accused him of forcibly kissing them right? That's pretty gross and more than just tapping someone's bottom. Plus I think he grabbed some of their asses. I'll agree with those who say that as long as Trump is President there isn't much point in others falling on their swords. Still, if it were up to me every one of these grabby men would be out. If you want to be a leader keep your [!@#$%^&*] hands to yourself.
  25. ^ The Clinton hate is a mental illness with some of these people. It's truly insane that they are still focused on them when they are no longer in power.
