I think that Nate/Amanda will have more story once the show delves more into Amanda's past. I think she could be running from somebody and once that person shows up that will provide more story for her and Nate. I could see them fleshing out her background more.

Devon isn't interacting as much as he has with Nate in the past, and barely interacting with Amanda right now. He doesn't seem bothered or really interested in her growing relationship with Nate. Elena is the one who seems more upset about it. The will stuff is occupying Devon right now, but maybe he will interact more with them, once that story is resolved.  I'm okay with members of this group having some separate things to be involved with outside of each other (like Nate/Amanda dealing with his medical license, maybe start to deal with her past, Devon/Elena dealing with more things involving the will) but I could see them interacting more later on, after the will stuff is resolved. Maybe they will start to have Amanda interact with more characters on canvas as well.

Why do viewers care about Amanda's past? We've got to care about her to care about her past. Amanda and Nate have the same problem for me that Rey/Mia/Arturo had. New characters with no ties (Nate does but...) in story together. I wish they'd bring on Olivia for an arc to help build Nate.

I agree that I don't need all 4 POC in story together. But i think you missed my point. Devon and Nate are related. They should be interacting on some level. Instead the show keeps them apart in favor of playing Elena and Nate. That's sorta odd to me.

    Where is the conflict though?

There is no conflict because neither character is built up enough for it. They are trying to use Elena which doesn't make any sense at all unless she wants Nate herself but that isn't being played. Like I said, I like the chemistry and the look onscreen but there needs to be more than that for investment.

I am really enjoying Nate and Amanda in their scenes together. They are a bright spot on this show, and my favorite part of it right now. They have good chemistry together and they would make a pretty couple. I think they are a good fit for each other and they bring out each other's personality more. I am looking forward to watching them interact more and their relationship growing.

Chemistry. Pretty. Could be a fantastic couple. Love what little I saw. But people need a reason to care about them and right now I don't see one. They are already in need of something to do besides each other. They have no connections to anyone in town except Nate's to Devon... which Nate and Devon don't interact. Elena interacts with Nate and Devon but they don't with each other. Seems weird but whatever.

According to soaps.com Y&R is looking to cast white twins or triplets for a new born that is approximiately four months old. I wonder which character(s) the baby is for? Also according to SOD Tristian Thompson is returning in the role of Colin for two days starting November 20.

Was there any doubt that he is behind the will crap.

so hilarious how they had Addby in a half-hearted interracial pairing (she was more deeply involved with the sex trafficking guy, and even Lauren's son!), only for it to end "amicably" (painting Nate as the bad guy do-gooder, that won't accept Abby for who she and her family are...) to throw her head first into another relationship... with a white "good guy"🤣

    these shows are a mess.

    chance is for Phyllis

They'll use every woman and have them fawning over him like they did Blue Eyes McAvoy. He's a carbon copy character after all. Abby is just one of many.

Fair enough. Maybe that's all that daytime soaps can do nowadays anyway--cater to fanbases because the era of them attracting brand new viewers is long gone.  JMO but I can't help but believe that by failing to craft strong individual characteristics for female characters, will ensure that Y&R continues to lose viewers over time.

    +1

If these fans truly care about MM and her new character, they'd want her to be established as a character on her own merits because without that foundation, any relationship she is placed it will immediately become centered around the man, not her.  The stronger her individual characterization is drawn the more likely she will be to hold her own in a pairing and the less likely she will be to have her personality fade away when a part of a coupling.

Today's soaps have a genuine problem with building characters that people truly care about because they fail to spend the time to build distinctive characters withn their own personal histories/stories to build on.

Most unconnected people like Mishael's Hilary and Amanda need to be tied to a core family member for relevance (with viewers and BTS). It's why every EP and writers connects their faves via retcon birth or marriage to core families. Mishael's fans know this. Regardless of how ill advised, it doesn't change how the fandom works nor BTS.

  6. The show is too heavy and hard on chance being some action hero his first 2 days. It's almost laughable.

He's nothing I'd be attracted to at all.

Well, you all that still watch this show, have fun, lol, this new Chance looks blander than bland and with his problematic personal views, he should've been Laurence Olivier when clearly he is not.

I took a quick glance on SM and Y&R fans are already trying to get him put with Mishael Morgan's new character.  Oh boy!  Are these leftover Lane fans, LOL?

It's probably just Mishael fans who want her to have a romance the show cares about.

People can look younger, or older, on-screen than in their pictures. I'm not really bothered by the age. I just don't care really at all.

Y&R is so ... ugh. But I never expected much from JG so ... he's lived up to what I expected of him and even surpassed it with how poorly focused the show is.

Tip to the networks: STOP HIRING WRITERS YOU FIRED FROM THE SHOW (or who 'had a meltdown') OR WHO DID A LOUSY JOB THE FIRST TIME.

I swear they're deliberately hoping the show tanks, IMO.

I'd rather have Chance than Cane though. And really, Chance should have been in Cane's spot the entire time. Cane was NEVER needed.

And yeah, with 2 Nates and Neil's death we haven't seen Olivia at all (I'm also gonna guess TLW has no interest and I wouldn't blame her). I'm not expecting to see Nina except maybe for a quick visit. And that's if Tricia Cast is even asked and is even up for it.

You'd think the mother and son would go hand and hand but nope ...

We don't need another Adam, though.

The minute Adam got his memory back the show went into the shitter under JG.

Nick running for a political office is NOT compelling entertainment. I want a soap opera dammit, not a Hallmark movie. And who the [!@#$%^&*] is demanding Morrow be seen so much? I just don't get it. At all. Lord. I hoped with Angelica gone it would get better (we are finally free of Goddard/Cane so that's a win!) ....

Remember when foolish Doug Davidson was so thrilled? Yeah, how'd that turn out, Doug? ;) How's all that airtime going?

In the case of Doug, I think something is better than nothing. He at least gets an episode here or there under JG. But it's not nearly what he probably assumed he'd get. I think his departure is a Sony edict as a way to trim budget.

Am I the only one who noticed that for the first time in almost 3 decades, PB is not leading story nor is he in the top episode counts? I think they are easing  out all the highly paid older folks.

Y would Devon return to town with that news, Amanda is in GC

Because she was supposed to be gone and he wanted her gone. When Nate asked her to rep him, she initially said no because staying hurts Devon having to see her. Nate said he'd talk to Devon and smooth it over. Devon finding out she's staying is clearly a beat that's going to be played.

"Chance" should be older than Billy. He was born in the late 80s.

Can we please call him Phillip now? The name Phillip Chancellor means so much to this show.

I think they do that to distinguish between characters. Ex: Jack is not called John. Johnny is not called John. Katie is not called Catherine.

I guess he could called Phil instead of Chance

I guess we know who DG/Cane got dumped for.  This actor does look too old to be Nina's son and Y&R will need Nina to help the audience care about a character that has barely been on the canvas, now being played by a totally new actor.

Y&R is consumed with front-loading the canvas with bland-looking vanilla male characters to drive most of their storylines. Makes little sense but it leaves no doubt as to the reasons for their continual ratings drop.

My thoughts exactly. DG/Cane was dumped for Phillip IV. They even somewhat resemble. I'm not mad at it

I wonder how old he is? I enjoyed John Driscoll in the role, but if he wasn't coming back, I had thought it would be a good idea to de-age Chance some. Like early 30's. 32 or 33 would have been a good age for a recast IMO. I would like to see more men on the show in that mid 20's to early 30's range, especially since we don't have characters like Noah/Fen around anymore.

I guess his return is a part of the spoiler about Devon returning with unsettling news. Maybe he found Chance. Or Chance shows up after Devon announces his news. I also wonder if Chance is going to be edgier this time around. They have mentioned over the past few months that he has gotten arrested for assault and was involved in money laundering. Though Jill still seems to think he's a good person. I wonder how they will explain his sudden change in behavior over the past year, or there is an explanation behind the things he has been accused of.

I mentioned this before but I think Devon's news is Amanda staying in town. But I do think Amanda's past could be Chance showing up. Probably find out she was conned by Colin or Cane

I do wonder if the last episode he appeared in when he said good-bye was really his last episode. I wonder how they may end up tying up this inheritance storyline. Maybe something will happen offscreen and reveal that Devon really should have kept the inheritance.

There is an upcoming spoiler that says that Devon returns to town with unsettling news. Maybe he's found out the stuff regarding the new will is a scam.

I think the unsettling news is Amanda staying in town to represent Nate.

Bryton James barely posts on social media at all. He seems like an extremely private person so I'm not surprised.

Bryton posts on social media far more now than he ever has. You're right though, he doesn't do a bunch of posting. But he typically does post support when people leave. Some canned words about how they'll be missed.

Speaking of which, and I apologize if this is from tabloid site but it's interesting to read:

I saw lane fans attacking any and everybody on social media. If bryton had any power, he sure wouldn't be so low on episode counts list.
