Everything I have seen and read about Jessica made her seem very mousy for lack of a better word even with pretty interesting material. And it didn't seem like JBS had the skills or charisma to carry that much story, but I obviously don't know what it seemed like day to day. With someone like Jessica, who has been off the canvas for so long, you could almost re-invent her like the show did with JLB's Laura (which was largely unpopular, but you get the idea). If the show was serious about Josh/Jessica I would probably recast both with some bigger daytime names. I do think the canvas was still pretty cluttered with characters in that age range at the time, but it's still an interesting idea especially if they gave Josh/Jessica more kids that could mix it up with the younger set.

Could Tony be covering for a script/breakdown writer he liked or something?

I love your idea, but at the same time we are probably hoping Jessica/Josh are going to be much more exciting than they actually were lol. I do see the possibilities of Jessica/Kristen working together-maybe Jessica's DID emerges and she doesn't realize she's even dealing with Kristen. I think recast Josh/Marlena would be a decent idea if only because Hope had a love interest and story while Marlena was just there kinda of waiting for Drake/John to come back to the show. I can't even remember why Drake/John was gone, but it was for a long time and I feel like John/Marlena got divorced via email or some crazy crap like that lol. I agree about Tomlin overall though. I didn't mind his run. I always felt Dena was much more personally vindictive with characters she didn't like though. Ron has favorites, but I don't think he obviously actively hates characters. I think Dena might be in theory a better writer even though I think Ron has better ideas. He just can't complete them properly. It's sort of ranking everyone on various degrees of sucking tbh lol. I like @AbcNbc247 idea about Jessica/Josh reappearing on an all Horton Beyond Salem too.

So Tony/Emma took it out? That seems like that might be covering for Ron. I don't doubt they said that, but Tony, at least, was practically obsessed with Bill. I don't think it's likely he'd forget or cut a piece of dialogue that was innocuous even if Holly/Billy never met. Let's say they never met onscreen or Tony/Emma forgot. With all Holly's offscreen activities it was completely possible they interacted offscreen. It reeks of actors taking a fall for a dialogue mistake to me. It's quite possible it's not Ron's fault though and just a breakdown writer.

Echoing that it's good to see you back! Your posts are some of my faves. You and @victoria foxtonhave some great ideas! I think Jessica was dull as dirt, but you both made me want to see her back. RecastJosh could even start an affair with his long time crush Marlena since John/Marlena weren't together over Kristen/Brady back then. I sorta liked Hope with Aiden until things got really dark. They were cute together. DC is such a charming actor even though he kills most soaps he's on.

So Sarah has explained that, but it's Sarah so I don't pay much attention. Something about her being gone for a year and being on probation at the hospital and not getting her full salary for now. Again...Idk. It feels like Chief of Staff Kayla wouldn't do that to her or she could just ask Maggie for a loan to put a deposit on an apartment, but it's Days. Maggie is so upset about Sarah's living arrangement, but I think she has 2000 bucks lying around to help Xander/Sarah move into a 1 bedroom place and pay their first months rent.

Yes! And some of them were odd switches! Julia hooked up with Bill, Ned, and AJ. Those characters aren't even similar. I couldn't even tell you what half of the 1992's cast type was because the choices of partners often felt random.

It did seem like the plan for Holly/ES shifted or was incomplete after Robert/Anna left. I would say the same for JJY. I am not sure if Mac/JJY was just tested with so many people it seemed that way, but Mac didn't have much of plan either. To be fair, though, 1992 was just odd with all the backstage changes, so it's not really specific to them only.

It's hard to picture Wayne's Roman anywhere post-MB until Roman returns and even then I can't see Wayne's Roman acting weak, sickly, and slightly pathetic like JT's Roman. I think perhaps WN's Roman would have worked popping in and out. Going on ISA missions and then coming back when family/Marlena warranted so he didn't seem like an absolute deadbeat all those years. Roman didn't fit during the John/Kristen/Marlena triangle, but I can see it working if he kept Marlena at arms length (but still had feelings) and came back to help his family and him and Marlena still had scenes that reminded the audience of their past. Then, Roman gets lost on his ISA mission, presumed dead, and shows up at J/M's wedding still and it would be an actual triangle that would have had some rooting value on both sides. I agree Alan and Monica worked because they weren't supposed be a picture perfect couple. The love and passion were there, but so were their many faults. It makes for an interesting dynamic to watch and automatically makes you more inclined to forgive their indiscretions because they both had them. It wasn't always one partner screwing up.

Yeah, it's a shame they discarded Wayne's Roman at a point when he had so much story to give. Roman was in the middle of a huge plot and just left. So odd. Even if john/marlena were endgame, there is no reason roman/marlena couldn't have given it a go for a bit while Kristen was around but I guess it would have been difficult to build the possession and subsequent stories with him around. Although it's not like Carrie, Sami, Bo, etc couldn't use Roman in their stories.

I was thinking perhaps they could do a small retcon and Nick wasn't her only child or something and they could bring a new male or female on in a younger age range and Jessica could at least be a part of that. Or maybe they could give Nick a long lost twin, so BB could come back. I am pretty sure Maggie and Marlena were close to Jessica. At least Marlena was, but she's not allowed to have friends not named Kayla so that's pointless. I could see a story about her DID too, but Days has so many actresses in that age range that have much more established and popular characters. I can't see people being that interested in Jessica now when she was only passably popular to begin with and hasn't been relevant in at least 40 years.

I vividly remember Holly being really comfortable with Mac when they were raising Robin together and maybe assumed they were a couple? Idk, I should probably go write some Mac/Holly fanfiction now since I apparently made this scenario up lol. But to be honest, I can't remember Mac/Dominique at all, so that part tracks. Also, looking at those recaps, how weird is it that Sean offers Mac a job as an undercover cop before he's had anything formal training or gone to the actual police academy? That seems....ill advised or at least very risky lol.

I swear I thought Mac/Holly actually briefly dated, but Holly broke up with him because she still had residual feelings for Bill Eckert lol. If I am wrong and making this up, then I have a really weird imagination.

No. I get the nostalgia part of it because she was a Horton, but Nick being her son was the most exciting thing about her. Ever. She wasn't good in the 80's and I don't know what she could bring to the table now.

Best- John/Marlena/Roman Days. No bad guy in this scenario (really) and even if you don't like either couple, you can't deny the impact the storyline had on the show to this day. Sami still brings it up 30 years later lol.

Allie and especially Gabi aren't the same as Marlena, Hope, Jen, or even Maggie as parents. Gabi lives her entire life like Ari doesn't exist. Sonny/Will are shown to be much more active participants in parenting even in the way their conversations are framed. Allie mentions Henry more, but it seems like Nicole practically parents Henry because she's always with him lol. Marlena and especially RoJohn, were shown with Carrie and the twins quite a bit. Their lifestyles and decisions did reflect the fact they had children and they were mentioned often. Same with Hope/Bo and Jen. Shawn-D and Abby were important to both Bo/Hope and Jen/Jack/Peter storylines and helped shaped their identities even if we didn't see them. Was it a realistic portrayal of parenthood? No, but you knew they were part of their lives. Allie and, more specifically, Gabi act like they have no children and it didn't change anything about how they live their lives. Plus, it's a lot more realistic to believe John/Marlena having free time because they were rich and had a full time nanny doing the cooking, cleaning, transportation for the kids, etc. Allie and Gabi were both young single mothers that barely struggled at all. ETA-John was good today. He had the Salem brain today with Brady and hit all the appropriate points on the Kristen idiocy.

At least Marlena's blazer is seasonally appropriate, which is more than I can say for 90% of her other ugly blazers. The Kristen stuff is so ridiculous and so obnoxious-it's actually too exhausting for me to post about. Honestly, would it be so hard for Kristen, Brady, and Rachel to rent their own house to continue this scheme? I am all for John/Marlena being involved, but this plot has no shred of credibility at this point.

I honestly wouldn't say any of the last for days were particularly bad. Just boring. I just don't have anything interesting to say about them. Nothing to mock, praise, or question lol. It is kind of crappy everyone in Johnny and Allie's life just ignored their birthdays until a few days after lol. Chanel lives with Allie. She just didn't get her a cake while owning a bakery until two days later? No wonder Allie is insecure.

That was the best, most flattering dress I have seen on Nicole in years. She did look great. I felt like Gwen was/is? in the hospital for a month. And Marlena's out and feeling fine a day later lol.

The first one is better than the second one, but I guess the actual show was filmed before they knew they were going to peacock, so it makes sense just to give a little backstory.

I thought maybe it was to establish they knew Wendy? And give backstory to those who didn't watch Beyond Salem? But everyone who watches now has access to Beyond Salem, so Idk.

Agreed. We already lost SM and I agree with those who think SM and NC had better chemistry than TA and NC. Of course, Ali is still really good, so the show needs to do something before both actors leave.
