I never thought you were implying she needs to lose weight. I don't think most of us care if she does. I just think it must be very difficult for her to feel comfortable after spending her childhood and early adult life on screen and being rail thin. I just wish someone would step in be more firm with what clothing options she can choose from. For example no jeans and sweatshirt options for a day in the office lol.

Thanks for expanding on it. I just remember both of them being over it. I think the hair is okay too or the least of her problems and, eyebrows aside, I don't think her makeup is usually too bad. I am as guilty as anyone for complaining about KS/Maxie's styling, but it's been like this for years and hasn't changed. I am still hesitant to blame it solely on the makeup/hair/wardrobe people. I think a lot of it KS's own input and style choices to cover her weight gain and everyone backstage tiptoes around her choices because they don't want to be inappropriate or hurt her feelings. I wish someone close to KS would just pull her aside and work on her look. I think it's clear KS is embarrassed about it and not embracing it. It just feels like a delicate situation where she ends up with some awful looks. I have just always thought there was a lot more in play here than wardrobe being unable to find a cute size 14 dress for her.

Fine with that. You know I think Maxie needs to get transferred to Deception's Paris office for at least 2 years. Kirsten just keeps trying to change her look and it screams insecurity and I feel bad for her, but I honestly think she just did something trendy with her eyebrows and it's not permanent. She just probably didn't realize how stupid they would look for a few days and the makeup artists at GH were like...🤷♀️

I know it's not just Shawn, but I love how characters go from 0 to 100 in most alcoholism stories on soaps. It hasn't been that long. In real life he probably is just going on a bender, but on Days he's drinking full bottles of cheap vodka day and night off screen. Is he working while drunk? Is he just sitting alone on the couch slamming shots? Honestly, EJ/Stefan drink at all hours of the day as we have seen and no one questions them.

It looks like KS got her eyebrows microbladed or tinted. It should fade. Her eyebrows are probably too light for her hair now. It looks ridiculous, but from experience it fades out pretty quickly. She probably just filmed this right after getting it done. Also, remember this post. I just defended something about Maxie's styling for the first time ever.

Thanks for warning me it's a Gladys episode again. I figured with yesterday's "cliffhanger". If she doesn't fall into the pool like Ned and actually drown then I am going to have to skip it I think. I would rather write an essay about why Carly is a great heroine than watch another day of Gladys, Sasha, and Cody talk about the exact same thing they have been talking about for 4 months now. Yes. He was mad for awhile, but Carly being in love with Jason or something drove him back to Nina. I can't remember, but Sonny knows.

General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
I have always found Carly's trajectory into heroine fascinating. She didn't evolve or grow or even try, she basically fell into it and it just stuck. Carly's just more polished, wealthy, and a bit wiser than she was 25 years ago, but that's about it. Robin and Brenda left, Liz was moved out of the Sonny/Jason stories, and every other love interest paired with Sonny/Jason didn't stick so Carly just got pushed into the main heroine role by default. The closest character to rival Carly in the heroine dept in that orbit was Sam and the combination of Kemo being duller than dirt and Jasam fans being largely Jason fans makes Sam a practical footnote in today's stories. The Carly adoration has been going on since the TB days when JFP/Guza were at the helm. So many characters called her the strongest, bravest, loves with her whole heart girl. Even her rivals begrudgingly praised and admired her courage. Countless characters praised what a good mother she was. Jax once called her the pinnacle of womanhood (verbatim) and any love for Jax I had died that day-long before Ingo became a vocal Trumper. The show has been trying to convince us that Carly is awesome and good for so long I think most of the audience has almost a Stockholm Syndrome like belief that it is true.

Agreed about the Bonnie 'cold' scenes. I am not sure why it was necessary. It doesn't add anything to the story or the scenes. JE and WK could have done those scenes without the obnoxiousness of the cold. I am also really unclear about the Alex/Maggie/Brady scenes- 1. I don't know what Alex did wrong. He didn't steal this guy from Maggie. He disliked Titan's pitch, Alex knew what the client wanted, and made a deal. The Million Dollar Listing guy had already walked away from Titan for good. I can't fault Alex's actions. I guess he could have told Brady, but in the end Brady would have went ahead with it anyway. 2. How is a clothing company a competitor for Titan? I never try to think too hard about Days business stories, but Basic Black would seem like a competitor for Gabi Chic not Titan Enterprises. 3. Is Maggie the villian here? I know they are trying to prop Alex, but Maggie is much more unlikeable than usual and she does seem out of her league. It would be one thing if she was being a bit of a tyrant and good at her job, but she seems incompetent as well. I don't mind Patch/Kayla scenes, but they and John/Marlena really seem to have the same sort of conversations over and over again. It's cute, but I wish their scenes were a little more exciting.

I absolutely believe you are all right about baby stories being easy to follow, easy to write, and easy to get approved, but this show's main character is a mobster. And it used to also have a hitman as the other lead. I just have to imagine something else could get approved. Young women like Brenda, Robin, and Emily existed for years without children and outside Robin having HIV none of their stories were particularly groundbreaking. Half the time on GH the story would be more interesting without the kids and almost none of these women should have more than 1 child. Carly and Liz are the only two I think probably need more than 1. Anyway, I am talking in circles because we've discussed most of this, but I do think while babies add stakes in the story most of these baby stories actually short change the character and the relationship. Instead of developing a character or a pairing it becomes a super serious relationship because a kid's involved now. It's the laziest way to make something much more important than it should be. No one can tell me Drew/Sam or Lulu/whoever or Maxie/anyone needed that child for character development.

General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
Most 80's popular heroines have a reasonable amount of children for their time on the show (Marlena, Hope, Kayla, Jen on Days, Laura, Felicia, Holly, on GH, etc). It's not even like KS was pregnant a bunch and forced the show's hand. Carly's had approximately 20 pregnancies, Sam has a broken uterus and shouldn't have multiple children, Lulu had 2 kids that BOTH came from the strangest conceptions, Maxie doesn't even have custody of her first child, Sasha had a baby that died, Brooklyn faked a pregnancy, Willow had a cancer pregnancy, Esme has her large baby, and Molly now can't have kids. Is there any woman of child bearing age on the show besides the teens and Kristina that haven't had a pregnancy story?

I literally don't think I have ever seen Scout or know what she looks like. I hear her spoken about, but I don't even know what Danny looks like either. To be fair, I think the little boy was a first day recast of Maxie's kid so that's actually understandable. Don't know Maxie's kid's name though.

Yes! I was thinking the same thing and as a woman I was thinking how awfully tight Kristen's leather pants were and how uncomfortable it must be to sit in them. I hope Megan let's them go to the bathroom.

I think Dmitri actually likes Gwen? He's obviously not without an agenda, but my assumption thus far is that he wouldn't hate being married to Gwen. There isn't a ton to go on with their scenes and it would make more sense to clue Gwen in on the deal, but I think he really sees Gwen as the most enjoyable, quick option here.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
At this point, I expect nothing less. The taste level on this show is astoundingly bad. Again, it's Days so I am used to it, but I don't understand why scenes like Leo/Gwen's couldn't have happened after Dmitri left. It's not cute or funny Leo goes around practically sexually harassing every man he meets and it's not normal behavior for any bff's to act like Leo/Gwen. The show can't get outlandish things right, but it also can't get normal human behavior right either lol. I often wonder if Ron and his writing crew actually know what it is like to interact with people in the real world because they certainly don't know how to write it.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
It's not only the script writing. The fact Leo and Gwen had a full on conversation while she was naked with a sheet over her after just having sex was pretty weird too. Who does that? At least put a robe on.

So, I think Julie falls under the category of person that thinks she's open minded because she's accepting of her family and friends of mixed race, but if you are a 'bad' person to her it's fine to use racist remarks. She's like those Karens on social media that are like I can't be racist-my best friend is black lol. I actually wouldn't mind that about Julie as it shows her age/upbringing and is realistic. I just hate when the show makes Julie lean so far the other way and is first in line at the Juneteenth Parade. You can't be a part time racist lol.

It's even more of a bummer for me because I like the idea of Ned thinking he's Eddie Maine and the silliness of him thinking it's 1995 and in his 30's. I want scenes of him trying to piece together his life that last 30 years. I don't want him thinking he's Eddie Maine and being an absolute ass to everyone. This is such an example of using history very poorly without any research. Listen, at this point, I am shocked Scout even knows who Drew is. He was MIA for years. I am sure Scout will do just fine without him. It's not like Sam cares about Drew at all either lol. When CM and KeMo are in scenes together I can't even believe he was a character she was in love with.

General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
That's where I thought it was going and people would have to tell him everything that happened since 1995 lol. That would have been lighthearted and silly! The story would have the same impact (Ned not remembering Nina called the SEC), but Ned wouldn't be a jerk and hurt everyone he loves.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
I would take even a stupid explanation over none. Even if Abe looked like a character on Body and Soul it would make more sense. I'd still probably complain over said stupid explanation, but the entire lack of perspective or reasoning for this Whitley character is just laziness. The crazy cat lady excuse isn't going to cut it because it falls under eccentric not a break from reality. She explained that she's allergic to cats and appears to know these cats are stuffed even if she talks to them. She seems to be highly functioning by going to work, doing chores, and knowing that was she is doing is wrong and illegal. I just need to know why she is doing this lol

General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
Yes! Eddie Maine wasn't a separate identity. At best Eddie Maine was a character Ned played, but Ned was fully aware of his life as Ned and fully aware Eddie Maine wasn't 'real'. And basically Eddie was a rockstar wearing leather pants not a jerk, so none of this makes sense. If Ned somehow thought it was 1995 I could understand it a little, but that doesn't seem to be the case. This was never a Jess/Tess or Vicki situation so it's almost insulting to me to use history like that in such a wrong way. I would love it if he was playing a game to screw Nina though.

General Hospital: June 2023 Discussion Thread
I am really confused as to what Ned does remember. He didn't remember Tracy was his mother. Did he just create a whole persona in his head? I don't get the difference between Ned having amnesia and Ned thinking he's Eddie Maine. It's like the show just went with the fact Eddie was his stage name, but it doesn't correlate with anything Eddie Maine did as of yet.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
I, mean, it would take all of 1 scene to explain she kidnapped the mayor with a rich wife for ransom to get her out of debt or has known Abe for years from a far and always was infatuated him, or is somehow Lexie's half sister on Celeste's side. Anything! Right now she's risking her freedom, job, and spending more money to feed two people for no discernible reason. And what's the end game? To keep Abe for herself forever? Whitley seems like a competent nurse who doesn't appear to be anything more than eccentric or at least not criminally insane. She also seems to have kidnapped Abe on the spur of the moment. I think this story is absolutely idiotic, but it would be nice to have anything from Synclaire Whitley's perspective to round this out even a little bit.

Days: June 2023 Discussion Thread
Well, Marlena and Kayla look just like soap stars on Body and Soul so maybe they wouldn't bat an eye with a Lexi lookalike. I absolutely agree about RJ making this better. I just don't think she acts at all anymore and has no desire to come back even for a little bit. I just wish the show would explain why Nurse Whitley wants Abe? For money? Loneliness? Has she harbored a crush on him for years? None of it makes a bit of sense to me.
