I think ASJ being the kind of person he is really underscores the actual issue here. Most people are fine with anyone, but ASJ and are overlooking the ridiculousness. Obviously that goes without saying.

I always did. It was just a colder, bitchier, less emotional Brenda. And let's be honest, Las vegas stretched no one's acting range lol. I do love the show and have seen every episode at least 3 times though. Josh Duhamel was just peak dreamy back then. I am really not trying to slam Vanessa, my most favorite actress on soaps of all time. I just think I can see some of her limitations. I am not saying he was wrong. He just did play the blame game for awhile on the love interests. And I do agree about bringing Hannah in at the time was a huge mistake as well. It was too much Brendaclone too soon.

I think CW is objectively the better actress overall. Clearly I am a Vanessa fan and I think she's fantastic, but she relies a lot on charisma, charm, and star appeal along with fire chemistry with her co-stars. VM is wonderful at playing Brenda, but CW would have slayed Brenda's breakdown scenes in 1997-98 and Vanessa did whatever she did. They are both great, but CW just has a bit more range. And to be honest, I always thought Vanessa just played slightly different versions of Brenda on every show/movie she was on. That doesn't mean I don't love her or can't name 100 scenes that VM/Brenda did that were amazing. I just think popularity, appeal and chemistry are different than actual acting skills. Vanessa beats Cynthia is the former, but not the latter.

Lol. I remember when he talked crap about LV's Hannah like she was the problem. Well, she was, but she was the reason the pairing tanked. Then again with the Angel pairing. It was the actress's fault as well. I don't think he ever liked the Reese pairing. I will say he was quite good with Megan Ward, but that's really the only pairing in the ballpark of his main pairings and that was 15 years ago.

Oh, okay lol. They were decent early on. I think MB gets excited when he has a new love interest then gets bored when it progress on to an inevitable short lived marriage and disappointed when it doesn't set the world on fire. I have always gotten the sense that MB is bitter and frustrated he could never make any pairing but Brenda or Carly work. And at this point even Sonny/Carly are very stale. I just don't think MB realizes his days of being a romantic leading man are probably over.

See I think MB is happy when he's not with LW's Carly, but I don't think I've ever bought Nina/Sonny. There was a little spark at first I suppose. Once it gets to the point when Sonny is all head over heels and marrying another woman I think Mo checks out. I think he knows eventually Sonny will end up back with Carly and this pairing will be a distant memory and he stops caring. He obviously views Sonny/Brenda as important and knows it's popular, so he actually tries when VM is around. The writing for Nina is some of the worst I have ever seen for a leading lady. She's constantly begging for scraps of forgiveness from people who don't deserve it. I hate Nina and I am still trying to figure out how she was wrong for turning in criminals. The slanted writing has completely backfired because now I am rooting for Nina to destroy everyone lol.

I think Mo only likes certain female screen partners and I think it boils down to VM and SJB-maybe Tamara. CW is obviously a better actress than Vanessa, but MB can barely muster interest.

I think Vanessa was in contact with Guza in that period and signed for Lipstick Jungle or something primetime and it fell through. A Jason clone is probably easier than a Brenda one. They don't have to emote much and just have to be good at working out. No way they would have recast that early after VM left lol. That was just buzz for Night Shift that was stupid.

SK to BW was pretty jarring lol. I think that was a pretty last minute recast though. They've had 30 years to figure Jagger out. The last time I thought MB gave a credible performance was when Brenda left in 2011. He was okay with Mike's illness, but I don't think MB's been good or up to the standard he can deliver since 2002-03

I am not saying you couldn't recast. I just can't think of anyone that would make it work. And with Carly they moved quite quickly with recasts and did a great job with casting. Vanessa has been the only Brenda for 30 years on and off. As far as Edward, I think it's a lot easier to accept a recast when the original portrayer retired or entirely moved on. I have no doubt she'll eventually show up. That would have been a fail and I don't think there was any real fear of a Brenda recast coming to fruition. Probably just a scare tactic to secure Vanessa at some point. Ha! I just said the same thing.

😂I was kidding of course. It would be an epic fail to recast Brenda with practically anyone-even a better actress. Vanessa just is Brenda. And the daunting task of trying to find someone else with romantic chemistry with MB these days would just be too much effort lol.

Again, the problem with the Jagger recast is not his age. It's not even the fact he's not as hot as ASJ. The problem is that he is ethnically wrong for the part. ASJ and AH are both technically white, but ASJ is much darker and Italian. I don't believe Jagger is of any particular ethnicity as defined on the show, but it does seem a like it's whitewashing the character.

Maybe? You would think if Frank was that into petty revenge he'd recast Jax, who is much more relevant to the canvas. Fingers crossed good things are coming.

Probably. I don't think VM is particularly eager to be back either. Anyhow, it's a bit glaring when FV brings people like Lois and Jagger back who are very closely connected to her and frankly less relevant. Not a diss to Rena/Lois, but she has very few connections to the canvas and Jagger has practically none. Meanwhile you can stick Brenda in about 6 stories and it would work. Whatever, it is what it is. I am certainly not holding my breath for a return.

I don't know if he isn't arrogant enough. I just don't think he even cares about the Brenda character at all. I am surprised Jagger popped back up though since no one has cared about Jagger in decades.

Seriously, though I personally don't think I would care about Brenda anymore if she was recast. It's Vanessa or nothing. The character was barely hanging on by a thread the last return and without VM I think it would go entirely off the rails. I would still watch because I watch now lol, but I would not be happy about it. I'd rather no Brenda than a recast. I don't think Brenda is unrecastable or anything, but it would be over for me and I suspect the 10-20 Brenda fans still left out there.😂 Can they pay LV to stay off my screen to get JJ back?

I was more worried re-cast Brenda would be back played by a blonde😂 I don't see it happening. At least not now. The character doesn't seem to be a priority, but neither has Jagger since 1992 so 🤷‍♀️ Vanessa actually writing a book that gets published to the masses would be like Christmas and my Birthday at once. If it happens I am first in line.

I personally don't see a need for NuJagger at all. It would be a fun idea if Karen was alive or if Brenda or Robin were around. But who does Jagger know in town? Sonny? Lois and Ned? A few vets like Scotty, Felicia, Lucy, and Anna in a pretty basic sense? It's just of all the characters you could bring back Jagger isn't on that list. And a weird recast Jagger at that. Unless he is secretly married to Brenda and brings Vanessa back to the canvas. I don't think that's likely though 😂. Maybe it's to usher in his son to join the teen cast.

Yes! Anchor couple is totally the phrase I was looking for. Thank you. I still think Mickey/Maggie were the closet bet on molding that type of couple, but there is way too much history and mistakes on J&M's part for them to be revered like an ideal couple. I think they are a #lovegoals type of couple, but they are just too modern to fit into the Tom & Alice role like you stated. I even think Doug/Julie were too.

I suppose you could consider this a burn to ASJ or something. But, IMO, it's a bigger burn to Brenda and Karen. They would never fight over this guy 😂
