I honestly think if Holly had a better reason to be angry at Nicole her reactions would be at least understandable. Obviously no one should speak to their mother like she did, but it makes it worse that Holly's hill to die on is going to prom. Comparing her pretty decent childhood to Nicole's physical and sexual abusive one is just absolutely clueless. I am glad the show is giving Holly some edge although at this point she is coming off bratty, vindictive, and petty. A few scenes with Marlena didn't help her much IMO. I don't find Holly very root able and I think Tate certainly deserves better.

I think the show would have been better served to show real class differences between Chase/Brook Lynn. As it is Chase is from an upper, white middle class family and Brook is from a wealthy, white class family. It's not much difference. Neither would starve if Chase lost his job. And he can moonlight as a "singer" if it all falls apart anyhow. It's all bland. If PM was responsible for that I believe that was the best thing brought to the show recently. It made me at least interested in two characters that I had no patience for.

Agreed. I feel like I know nothing about what PM could have done because nothing happened. I have been a pretty vocal detractor of the show only because I wanted some movement. It's definitely the most bizarre head writing stint in recent history and I can't tell you anything about it except Sasha became a cook lol. I know PM had ideas and stories I just wish we got to see one. Chase/Brook Lynn are just there. They are mostly inoffensive, easy to watch, pleasant, but boring as hell. I am sure they would be a delightful couple to know in real life. I don't want my soap couples to be people I would know in real life. I need drama, sexiness, obstacles, passion, high emotions, etc. Brook Lynn and Chase's big obstacle was if Gregory was going to croak mid ceremony and some concern about Brook Lynn being rich. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.........................

Oh, it's bizarre. You would think she would have exited with him. That's why I assume she probably isn't problematic because it would have been very easy to fire her with him. It tends to make me think perhaps she distanced herself from him or the marriage. But I don't know this woman at all so no idea.

It's extremely awkward. As far as I can tell she was never under investigation. I would assume Days would have fired her at the same time if she was problematic as well. If Alan Alarr treats his employees like that I can only imagine how he treats his wife. But that doesn't mean she is bad at her job. I don't notice her writing to be worse than anyone else's. Yesterday's show was pretty good. I just don't think we know enough about her personally to judge her.

Yup. I was being kind. I could easily get rid of 60% of the cast. At the very least I always am clear this is the last segment/scene on Days. Fridays usually have a solid cliffhanger to get us through the weekend. Days has so many flaws, but they have a very clear soap structure that makes it very easy to follow along and be excited mildly interested enough to tune in the next day. The Sonny cliffhanger yesterday was silly and weak. I still do actually consider it a cliffhanger though. Jason staring off into space or offering to give Danny a ride home is not. To me GH is doing endings lately that signify these conversations are complete for the day with nothing to make us want to tune in tomorrow.

With everything else going on I forgot to mention I liked Gio. He's cute and although he didn't do much he seemed pretty natural. It was a little stilted when he called Sonny "Mr. Corinthos" and we learned Sonny pays for his music schooling and has for years. That would imply a much closer bond between them, but whatever. At least his music was better than Violet's singing.

I tend to agree with you. Outside of who Sonja Alarr is married to, we have no indication she is bad at her job or a bad person. It's not the best look, but we really don't know her circumstances or much about her. For all we know she's a victim herself, in the process of getting out of the marriage, distancing herself from the situation, etc. She hasn't outright publicly defended him (as far as I know), so I see no reason for her to be fired.

Garin Wolf took over right after Guza. Sometime in July-August 2011. Right around the time when Vanessa/Brenda left. Brenda left and Sonny went off his meds, Jax/Carly were having a custody trial over Joss, Liz gave Lucky's wife the wrong meds, Lulu was in Florida faking being a hooker to try to find missing Luke, and Jason/Sam got engaged. That what was happening right before GW took over, so.....not the best.

Oh, you definitely weren't coming off that way! Most of the time even if I enjoyed periods of GH I find myself nodding my head knowing I can understand why others didn't. If you were looking for a Quartermaine, reality based, hospital focused soap, GH was not the place to look for it in the 2000's lol.

Again, that's fair. I was a Sonny, Jason, and Carly fan back in 99/00. In fact, I am pretty sure I enjoy Sonny, Carly, Jason still more than most on this board even though I absolutely see their faults and can realize they are over played. I still stand by the fact GH was pretty solid for me until 2003. Guza was left to his own devices for far too long and I did disagree with a lot of the material he put out. I still knew he was capable of more if reigned in and I am not sure CVE and EK are.

To be fair, Marlena knows Eric still has feelings for Nicole and Eric/Nicole's breakup was much more recent. Plus, it's her son and this Eric/Nicole working relationship started about 5 minutes ago lol. I think it's a fair question. I do think it's weird when Marlena asks her patient (Nicole) about those feelings though. Roman/Marlena/John/Kate have been friendly for years now with little hint of feelings. No one asks Kate how she feels about seeing John at the Pub and they were engaged lol. From either Ava or Jada. Can't remember who told him. Jada was talking about the black book being encoded and Steve offered to help (of course with an assist from Shane/ISA-because Shane doesn't do enough lol)

THIS. I really get everyone's criticisms with Guza. You all make valid points and I don't disagree. There were serious issues with the show when he was in charge. But it was more entertaining and more memorable than anything we've had in the last 7 or 8 years. I am not saying GH should re-hire Guza, but at least the man knew how to write a sweeps event even if the main players were generally Sonny, Carly, Jason. There has to be some middle ground between Guza and CVE that's entertaining while being thoughtful and character driven. And Days still manages to have legit cliffhangers everyday as well. Even if they are stupid lol.

I am a little confused why Kayla can't know about the Konstantin stuff, but Marlena can? It's strange to me how Steve keeps Kayla much more in the dark than John does with Marlena. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Wow, Holly was awful to Nicole today. It's been a real shift in behavior just because she can't go to prom lol. I like the turn. It just came on really quickly. The cliffhanger was good. I wonder how Nicole is going to get out of that lol. I did laugh at EJ getting fired. He was so confident he wouldn't. It would have been so much easier for EJ to just re-open the stupid Gabi case. All in all good show today.

Yup. Guza had a laundry list of faults beginning with playing off his greatest hits, a love of violence, misogyny, and clear favorites. At least they were actual GH characters that he favored and at least he had some greatest hits at GH and memorable moments. Frank had about 6 months of good work at GH a decade ago and DOC and CVE did what exactly that was memorable? Anyhow, when I am defending Guza this hard you know I am irrationally irritated with GH lol. First call Guza would make.

Yep. And at least I know there would have been a car bomb or shoot out at this wedding and possible casualties if Guza was around. I am not advocating violence, but I think we all can agree the purge is needed. And, hey, I know Guza likes VM and Brenda and would give me a little hope on that front. Now, I am just depressed waiting for the Roger Howarth re-hiring.
