GH: April 2024 Discussion Thread
Okay, I'll make my point quick. From the dialogue and actions that have happened on screen- 1. Brook Lynn had to get Lila's dress altered 2. The dress was falling apart and the dressmaker could not make alterations 3. BLQ and Lois decide to use pieces of lace from the dress, so now the original dress is falling apart AND missing fabric 4. Therefore Lila's original wedding dress is ruined-that's my whole point. Instead of leaving the old dress alone or at some point trying to restore it, Lois and BLQ decided to take it apart. I get that Brook Lynn is using part of the dress so it lives on, but that doesn't negate the fact the og dress is ruined. It's now in pieces and no other family member gets to enjoy it or even look at it again. That's sad. It has nothing to do with the availability of Lois dress from 1995 or a recreation being made. I understand no actual 100 year old vintage wedding dresses were harmed by Lois/BLQ because it's not a real dress, but the entire show is fictional so I am just going off the facts given to me on screen.

I know I am going to regret this circular argument, but Lois wore Lila's dress on screen in 1995 to her wedding to Ned. So it exists as much as any other fictional characters dress does on soaps. We didn't see Lila wear it but we saw Lila give it to Lois and Lois wearing it. Wardrobe did not recreate it earlier this year-at least not on camera. Brook Lynn was wearing an entirely different random bridal gown for try on sake and was talked into wearing Lila's dress by Tracy and Lois. Tracy gave a whole speech about why Brook Lynn should wear it. We saw Brook Lynn looking at pictures of Lila/Lois's dress on her phone and Rena flashbacking to the wedding in said dress. I know there was some weird twitter confusion about the dress, but the dialogue made it clear the dress below is the dress Brook Lynn was going to wear. It couldn't be altered so Lois and BLQ just decided to use it for parts, which is a shame to me. And to be honest, it doesn't even look like the dress has much lace.

Yes, Lila's gown is unsalvageable. This didn't just come up today, but a few episodes ago. They can't alter the gown and I think Brook Lynn is just using some lace off the dress. Lois called the dressmaker to figure out a fix. From my understanding the original dress is unusable and Brook Lynn is basically just using the scraps from it. She's not wearing Lila's dress anymore.

Ha! I originally typed The Spectator and knew that was wrong. Thanks for the correction, but don't blame me if I call it the Intruder again lol. I am sure they are setting up Nina's fall and Carly's gain to get the Metro Court back, but it's not even believable. And IIRC, if Carly didn't like a guest she would just barge into their rooms unannounced and have fights in the lobby. But, BEST. BOSS. EVER.

So, on to today's show. Is anyone kind of irritated Brook Lynn ruined Lila's wedding dress for basically no reason? I know it was 'unsalvageable', but I think I would have just left that dress alone and had Brook Lynn chose her own. And that's the special dress for Brook Lynn's honeymoon? Ugh...🙄 I am 100% sure Lois is going to look hotter and sexier than her own daughter at the wedding. The combination of Michael, Drew, and Curtis in the same scenes is mind numbing. Although Nina bursting in was mildly humorous. I am already resigned to Carly/Jagger and while they really aren't the worst as far as chemistry I am just not looking forward to it. I agree with whoever said two blondes shouldn't date. Carly/Jagger look like brother/sister in the most Flowers in the Attic type way lol. Again, Nina seeing Carly/Jagger was the best part of those scenes. It's still extremely hard for me to believe the 5 star Metro Court has fallen so far solely because of Nina. Olivia isn't handling the room service department? She doesn't even let people touch the Quartermaine kitchen. Is the Intruder Office in the Metro Court? Because Nina was really zooming around town quite quickly if not. Clearly, I am about to start a Nina fan club at this point, but she's been the MVP of the last few episodes. You know, TJ probably should have expressed his thoughts before Kristina was actually impregnated. I don't think TJ was ever very clear about his ambivalence until today. Yay for Alexis getting a hearing about her law license!! I feel like Anna/Valentin have the same boring conversation about Pikeman all the time. It's not interesting at all.

Sonny faked his death during Brenda's return but both Carly/Jason knew he was alive. Sonny had a funeral and everything. She did meet with the five families and had a baseball bat she smashed on a table or something equally silly. It was better than the 2021 scenes though. It was heavily centered on Sonny in the early part of the year, but it moves into more Brenda and Jason centered stuff toward the end of the year (which obviously includes Sonny, so I guess that's not a great point). The Rick/Laura stuff was pretty awful.

Fair enough. When you lay it all out there were some bad stories and characters. I liked early Sonny/Carly for the most part, actually liked Courtney/AJ, thought the Deception relaunch had it moments, and enjoyed OG Emily and Zander and the beginnings of Jason/Liz. I also didn't mind Sexis tbh. But taking a gander briefly at recaps there were probably more misses than hits in that time period. I just remember really checking out during mid to late 2003. I thought the Sam intro was ridiculous, Jason/Courtney are a drag, Dobson, the Panic Room stuff (although I think that was popular), the Lily lookalike, and Carly getting shot in the head by Sonny. I just couldn't anymore.

True that lol. He had a lot of raw charm as Nico though. Interesting. So perhaps it was always an issue for him and he was just better prepared back then? @titan1978 @DRW50 I thought GH was still decent until 2003. I think 1999 was a rough year overall with cast departures, but 2002 was a great year for GH. I have an obvious bias, but the only story I remember really hating was the Luke/Lucky/Summer triangle that was just..icky.

Yeah, I am not necessarily bashing MB either. I just think if he is having difficulty remembering lines he needs to figure out a way to tackle that. I am honestly not 100% sure it isn't a personal acting choice for him either. I do think MB likes being on GH and I am not sure if it's laziness. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I do think MB was a good actor. It could be nostalgia blinding me and perhaps he was lucky to have a couple of great leading ladies that he had chemistry with, but he did do a lot of solid work early on. I am just not sure anyone on GH has ever really called MB out on his line delivery and/or memorization. He might not even realize how bad it comes off on screen.

I like the idea of Chase/Brook Lynn much more than the actual execution of the couple. They are just boring. As far as Mo goes, it's hard to say. He never had an issue with his lines in the 90's and had more complex dialogue. It's possible medication, age, memory, shorter production time, whatever, has contributed to his inability to remember his lines. At the same time it's his job, so if MB has to make adjustments to be able to memorize dialogue he needs to do that. If it was a new problem for MB I might be concerned, but he's had trouble with his dialogue for about 2 decades now.

I like Blake Berris a lot as well. I always have. He's just something different from your usual soap hunk, like you said, but still appealing. I think he's a really good actor too. I have always felt Nick/BB got a raw deal from Days back in the day, so I do want him to succeed. This story is just such a clusterf*ck at this point It would be so much easier to explain then, say, Vivian randomly having two twin boys by Stefano!! Lol. We've suffered through worse as Days fans.

That's why I think the show is making this up as they go along. He didn't look like Nick, but now Everett does. If Ron hadn't gone out of his way to show Nick in hell working for the devil, it would have been pretty easy to just make him Nick and go from there. Or even if you didn't want to work on rehabbing Nick as a character the show could have established he looked like Nick and just made him a twin/brother/whatever.

It doesn't make sense. The coma/accident is an extra layer of stupidity to this whole story. The only reason it might make sense is Everett is blaming his memory loss on the accident. But what is the endgame here? It seems as though Bobby/Everett and Jada went through the entire divorce process so he would have been free to see Stephanie and the ghosting makes no sense. The whole elaborate plot of Everett forgetting his entire life with Jada seems like way too much work to do intentionally. Stephanie had no idea he was married or that it was to Jada, so he'd gotten away with it basically. Unless this is heading into some Ron weird DID territory, there are too many extraneous details that make the whole thing overly complicated. I think he's Nick's twin and Nick was married to Jada or some weird crap.

It was especially stupid considering Ava has a child sleeping in that house as well. She was just going to take three muscle relaxers and pass out? Lol. She is staying with Sonny because her and Avery are in danger. You'd think Ava would at least want to be able to wake up quickly and be aware if there is trouble. I have a hard time believing Carly is a good boss because of her entire personality. I will say I find her slightly more credible than Olivia/Nina. She and Jax ran the hotel together for a long time and we know Jax is a good business person, so I would assume he taught her a few things over time. I can at least buy Carly knows most of the ins and outs of the Metro Court because she's always been part of it.
