Sad thing is that not only straight people do this. The amount of discrimination and prejudice inside the community is crazy. People inside... know what I'm talking about. There are corners where people are perceived "less than" if they don't act a certain way. Certain way almost always means macho and manly.

Speaking on that topic... Yes I agree that these stereotypes don't work anymore... And they have never worked by the way. I've been asked by people as a joke why do I not act gay... And I take offense to that when asked. I am acting like myself. And I'm gay. So I am acting gay... But my gay in their eyes reads as straight. Not my problem. Even if I force myself to act differently it doesn't work. I have tried btw in my younger years... For the experiment of it... but I look fake. My husband is the same. We are usually asked if we are colleagues or relatives. Till they see us holding hands. That's when jaws drop. Speaking of Martin... I'm slowly beginning to accept the actor. The character is still what it is, but the actor has improved sooo much.

Do you guys think it will be easy to rebuild... or was the soap very badly damaged by this writer at this point? What directions do you want to see changes in?

I don't have a problem with the pacing of BTG. Not in the beginning, not now. I am one of the people that can watch a soap that moves incredibly slow (not that BTG is slow, btw)... IF IT'S WRITTEN beautifully and the characters are not cartoons. My main issues are that some of the writing so far has been sketchy (I believe because of growing pains and establishing so many characters at the same time) and some of the stories just don't work (Ashley's the saint and the mob stuff). Otherwise... I love a slow-burn. I don't like primetime-pacing, even though I am not opposed to short periods when it's fast-fast-fast. I think the issues right now are mostly in terms of character development, acting, not working stories, lack of cliffhangers and some editing problems. The pacing is fine by me. I'm not rushing. AND LET ME SAY THIS - some of the dialogue writers are good. Some aren't. That's just the truth. I'm sadly not remembering who is good and who is bad... because I have ADHD and if I don't write them down, I may mix the names up. But some of the dialogue has been very Bradley Bell, something I've said from day 1... month 1... and that has irritated me to no end (the whole board knows I HAVE PTSD from Bradley Bell's writing). And some of it is just cringe. I've given plenty examples. Not gonna repeat. But I've also had episodes where I'm just enthralled by the writing and I find it clever, multi-dimensional and just... classy. So... I think a lot of these things need to be cleared with time and the soap has the potential to really blossom. I'm optimistic.

I've drifted off couple of times, not gonna lie... especially during the casino stuff. That's my sign that something is not working. My eyes start closing, brain shuts down, refuses the material, LOL. And then when Leslie comes up, I just perk up. That's the type of presence I want on my screen. And yet... I do think she's becoming a bit cartoonish in the way they are writing her. I want a slow-burn type of crazy. Still, not complaining about her. Love her. I just want them to be careful. I don't want her turned into rotten modern day Sheila too fast. Now thinking about it... I think what is happening is quite normal. A safe-kinda-boring period where the show is establishing itself after the fireworks beginning. I remember Bold's first 60 episodes - other than the beautiful dialogue and great acting from Susan Flannery... some of the stuff was borderline sleep-inducing. It wasn't till the 60+ episodes they started really bringing it. Praise the Lord for that!

My favorite episode was when she was called by a friend of hers who was believing she is hearing and seeing the ghost of her husband... but all of it was staged. I don't remember what season it was. As a young child seeing this episode on TV felt like hardcore horror movie. I screamed and ran out the room couple of times. And had it taped on VHS. Ah... those were the days. Every single thing was so important. Now you just press a button and you have the entire series online in 4K. I miss when I used to replay the only 5 episodes I got on the tape. 😂- BTG: April 2025 Discussion Thread
God I love Trisha Mann-Grant. Can I just say this... without any freaking reason? Well no... actually - there's a huge reason - she's soooo good. SOOOO GOOD. Any episode she's in... I'm wide awake... no missing a beat. I swear if these Emmys don't be careful in nominating her in the future... I'm gonna put on my Sherry wig and do something about it.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread

Nothing personal... I'm still gonna watch the show and enjoy it when I enjoy it... and NOT enjoy it when I not enjoy it... Period. And I'll talk about it... even if anyone wants to discourage me... Not gonna happen. I'm a very persistent person and I don't let others influence me easily. Aaaaand I am here for the show first and foremost. I focus my energy primarily on commenting the actual show and not what other posters think of it. If anyone is annoyed or irritated by my critical opinions, I can just... offer my emotional support in wishing you to move on. I'm not gonna stop sharing them or being honest. I also don't think that this forum (SON) has an overly negative audience. In SON... I've stumbled upon the smartest and sharpest takes so far. No other site has that diverse-in-opinions group of posters (in my opinion). That's why I love SON and prefer it to any other forum. And for a final word, I would add that... even though the show is experiencing growing pains right now... it has amazing potential, amazing cast (with a few exceptions) and just... a soapy spark to it that a few shows have. That's why I'm here. ❤️ Quite frankly the first month I was sooo overly positive that now... when I go back... I cringe at how happy I was with everything. But that initial high has passed and now I'm watching with more sober eyes. Aaand the material has also shifted.- B&B: Veteran Actor returns

I love reading all of your takes. And the fact that you never judge other people's opinions is what matters to me. That's how I try to roll too. Even though I'm not always successful at it. 😂- BTG: April 2025 Discussion Thread
Mm-hmm. I agree 💯. And I really don't understand why some people can't accept that we all have different opinions. It's just so simple. We are grown ass people. I don't ask of anyone to share my thoughts. If someone is in complete awe and finds that everything is perfect and sublime... I'm jealous. Good for you. Amazing. Wow. So great. And yes... When a good episode is delivering... I'm one of the biggest freaking cheerleaders. I don't feel like I need to excuse my right to be honest on a soap opera forum. - What Are You Listening To?
