I'll be watching online. The only good thing about ESPN3 is the sheer amount of choices of matches to watch and I can usually avoid the ESPN commentators.

A good episode but unfortunately incomplete. I don't know whether it's been posted elsewhere on YT: I know some people thought there was a lack of chemistry between Lindsey Frost and Frank Runyeon but I think they worked pretty well together until the writing for them went downhill and Steve regressed as a character. I know Lily felt threatened by Sierra but boy did she come off as a Superbrat in these episodes.

Well, in Sock's defense, he does have a Major in Mixed Doubles and a Major in Men's Doubles, so he has, at least, achieved something but he's more of a late bloomer in terms of being a singles player. He got to the finals in Auckland but a lack of fitness did him in against Roberto Bautista Agut, who had no such problems. Sock had to retire, I believe. Sock is definitely not the next Andy Roddick and if anyone was hyping him to be, they did a disservice to both guys but I think his doubles success has helped him improve his singles game. In terms of Singles success, he can snatch one or two smaller tournaments but I don't see any Majors for the foreseeable future but with Novak beating most everybody, there's very few big titles to go around. Whatever Novak fails to get will be snatched up quickly by either Stan, Federer, Murray or Nadal. I'd love to see a brand new champion, even a first time Champion to win Oz but honestly, I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

I just checked and Harrison saved 4 Match Points to comeback and win the match, so he did indeed qualify for the Main Draw. His first round is Tuesday, I think local time.

Taylor Fritz qualified for the Main Draw in his first ever set of qualifying matches! Something about him reminds me of a young Pete Sampras, when Pete had a head of hair, of course. The USTA did Harrison and Young no favors, giving them so many wildcards so early in their career. Donald struggled for years but at least, now he qualifies for direct entry into the draw. Harrison will just have to figure out how to earn his way as well.

Hillary frets excessively because 'Hillary gonna Hillary'. I agree with you in hoping that Bernie's ideas do not fade from consciousness after the election. Some of his ideas may not be entirely workable within the current system but there are many variations that can be worked through and shaped into something workable and quite beneficial to the American public built from his ideas. Did anyone see the front page of the NY Daily News?

Qualifying for Oz has begun. The Australian Open is streaming some of their qualifying matches on their You Tube page but the U.S. is blocked from streaming. If you have a VPN, you can actually watch it. Chrome, I think has some.

That's how I feel. I felt HBS and GM had a slow burn kind of chemistry, not the stereotypical soap supercouple. Even though HBS's Margo was kind of a Big Mouth, the best scenes she had with GM were non-verbal when she'd stroke his face or the way they would look at each other, whether longingly or anguished. Anyway, I feel as though Margo was never supposed to be a classic heroine or romantic figure. She was a slutty character in the beginning so JMO but she was probably always meant to be a bit brassy. Glynnis O'Connor must have been quite jarring after HBS and I know in some circles she was much derided but recently I saw a few episodes with her and she seemed closer to Ellen Dolan's version but without the androgyny and the hardened exterior. And in comparison with the junk on today's soaps, I have a lot more tolerance for her understated version of Margo.

I would have taken Hilary B. Smith and Gregg Marx at the end of the shows run. Justin Deas, they might've been able to get but I doubt they could've gotten Margaret Colin, she does films and primetime TV and stage now. She's pretty busy. I would've loved Hillary and Gregg to unite. They were smoking hot in their day. No offense to Scott Holmes and maybe it was how androgynous they'd made Ellen Dolan but there is no way that John and Lucinda should've had so much more sexual chemistry than Tom and Margo and by the time they got to Dolan and Holmes that's exactly what happened.

The Politics Thread
There was an Opinion editorial where a columnist stated that both Sanders and Trump use anger as an essential force in their campaign platforms. The columnist stated though that Sanders used it as introduction and offered solutions that were often within the realm of possibility (like reviving Glass-Steagall to its original powers) while Trump usually offered only vague, often outlandish possibilities as his solutions. So perhaps some disaffected (and not well read) voters might mistakenly equate the two because of their seemingly angry tones. I read this story and for some reason, immediately thought of Cheap. K-Pop to the rescue? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwinmpfsu5rKAhUJax4KHZU5DjMQFgglMAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2016%2F01%2F08%2Fworld%2Fasia%2Fsouth-korea-north-propaganda-broadcasts-bomb.html&usg=AFQjCNHvvrCSUKwu60nqaemcRoJDw3AFqw

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I think this is a very different entity from SoapClassics which was done in association with P&G. If you look through AsTheWorldStillTurns You Tube videos, you will see all he/she has to offer. I think this is someone who runs their own channel in there own time offering to make copies from her/his own personal collection. As I understand it, this person gets many of their videos from trades, so it's a 'what you see is what you get' type of scenario. Still, you'll see a good number of videos from the 80s but since he/she is on September 1989, the videos posted will soon be out of the 80s. @ Soapsuds, personally, I'd love to see the rest of August 1986 up to Labor Day '86 and more of Spring/Summer 1987 but of all the online searches, I've yet to find those videos. I feel like only P&G/PGP itself can supply that need at this point. Speaking of the 80s, I'm currently watching some videos from 1989 and I'd say from 1989- early 1990, that was definitely the year of the Father/Son relationship being turned upside down. Of course, there was Paul/James and then Andy/John with Duke thrown in for good measure and then other characters like Derrick and his father Niles' relationship and Brock and Phillip all headed for a deadly collision. I'm watching this episode and had to chuckle at Kim and John arguing and Kim's reponse to John's blaming her getting custody of Andy as the reason why he's moving in with Julie. When Kim replies with an incredulous expression "Custody?! Custody at 19??!!" I can't help but howl with laughter.

If anyone is familiar with AsTheWorldStillTurns on You Tube, there was a Special announcement posted on the You Tube page. This is great of her/him to do. P&G should be doing this. Sadly, many of the episodes that I most want are ones not posted anywhere online but I'm sure others will see plenty that they really want to order for their collections.

Imogene Coca had the most expressive face (LOL). WPIX in NYC used to air Your Show of Shows in the 1980s so I got the chance to watch quite a bit of it and the humor still held up (it probably still would today). Yeah, it is a shame that the last decade of ATWT is posted on YT pretty much without any threats of being taken down, probably because it's the [!@#$%^&*]-tiest of all the decades that show ever produced. The other decades may have some value, so P&G hordes those episodes. Last night, I came across the SoapClassics You Tube page and all they had were clips. I swear it was like 5 clips or something (if that much). Pitiful.

Wow @ Paul Raven, thanks for posting that summary. I would've liked to have seen that whole storyline of Marcy accusing Dr. Bob. Most of the episodes posted on You Tube are after Bob's reputation has been restored. In some episodes you can see a lingering tension between Frannie and Marcy but it is also clear that Frannie has forgiven and both have moved on at that point. I remember seeing episodes when Maggie was involved with Tom Hughes and then Tom and Margo became involved but I don't think I ever knew that Lyla and Frank Andropolous were involved before Maggie and Frank. Pretty interesting to reflect on just how entangled the Andropolouses and Montgomerys were back then, whether in love or in hate (Steve and Craig). Their families sure were intertwined back then! Too bad there aren't more episodes from 83 & 84 posted online. Heck, I'd take more episodes from December 89 or January/February 1990! I never got to see Phillip Lombard get arrested for Brock's murder or Emily's reaction.

I guess it's all just speculation anyway but just wondering that if a core group of writers were able to demonstrate that ability perhaps the network/producer intervention might have been minimal instead of the hatchet job we ended up getting. I would've preferred taking that chance (lol).

but you could still notice the drastic change when the new regime or writers took over. I was just wondering what if they had trained a core of talent to replicate his style the way the master painters and master builders had done with their work? Character consistency and storyline continuity could have lasted at least a decade after Marland's passing.

I can't speak on whether it was across the board but IMO, everything on ATWT started to dip around the mid 90s. There were still some good storylines but a LOT of poor ones and all inconsistently told. The stories went downhill once Marland passed. The writers had no clue what they were doing. The show's cancellation notice was in 93 when Marland left the show. Marland was well trusted as showrunner (with good reason) but when it comes to any showrunner of a continuing series, it is a mistake not to know storyline projections for the next year, even the most competent and trusted ones. I know that every writer leaves room to adjust, adapt and improvise and Marland was known for being such a writer, who improvised when necessary but in retrospect, so you can't know every little specificity of every scene, storyline and character but it seemed ill advised to not know, in advance, where things were headed with these characters and their storylines over the long term. I also never understood why soaps didn't have a better apprenticeship system where young and aspiring soap writers couldn't learn how to mimic the styles of the master headwriters, the way the master painters had/have apprentices who learn to reproduce their brushstrokes and styles so that, if the master painter, for any reason couldn't complete a certain work, his apprentices could pick up the slack and complete the painting. Most times, no one was the wiser. In one of my writing classes, we had to do that. Pick a writer and write an original work in the style of that particular writer. It's a challenge but certainly possible.

He was Craig Montgomery's son Haha. In my mind, I've re-written that entire storyline where Gabriel was really Tonio Reyes' son with Juanita Perez (anyone remember her?) and Sierra and Craig were protecting him from Tonio's enemies in Montega by lying about his paternity.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
The guy standing next to her, Ben Levin was also on a soap, As the World Turns as Gabriel don't-remember-his-last name. ATWT was terrible at that time so I prefer to forget all about it.
