  1. Um, how long is the running time for this podcast episode?
  2. May is awful and inept but with a vulture party like the Tories, she's far from the worst. Besides, the fact that no one seems to have a clue as to how to proceed with Brexit, it likely, it was the threat of ending up with Boris Johnson or Michael Gove that helped to steer votes to keep May in her position. There are several other Tories who no one wants near the office of PM, who'd beat her by a country mile in a contest for the politician who garners the most contempt of the British people.
  3. It wouldn't surprise me if TMZ ends up with a copy of that video, somehow, since they're good for that type of thing. If they get their hands on the video, I expect a leak to happen after that.
  4. Jazmine Headley had been waiting for vouchers for childcare for four hours, without a chair, so she sat on the floor. Could no one have found a folding chair?? It is a lack of common sense and lack of humanity in regards to how she and her child were mistreated. Were it not for the bystander who took video of the whole thing, I doubt any of us would know where this woman would've ended up. Or her child, for that matter. Much like Margaret Thatcher, who I believe was the last PM to face a No Confidence Vote by her own party, Theresa May wins this one. I wonder what the repercussions will be for the Tories. Perhaps an even weaker party?
  5. After wasting time trying to find out more on traditional U.S. sports news outlets like ESPN, etc., I just found this article on the one site that seems to be reporting on this, so I haven't yet had the chance to read it.
  6. Apparently Gimelstob entered a not guilty plea today in court.
  7. I agree. I do think the Sjogren's and all the chaos in her life also made her reluctant to make any changes for years as she seemed to want stability and safety. Otherwise, I feel like she would've parted with David years ago.
  8. Since Trump got into office, shady lawyers have certainly been getting time in the spotlight: Michael Cohen, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Avenatti, Lanny Davis...
  9. Cohen got about 3 years. People who have served far more time for weed possession must be furious right now. TBH, though, somewhere around 3 years was about what I expected, although I think that the sentence should've been higher. It is what it is, I guess.
  10. Yeah, but Venus isn't your average 38 year old. And being stalled for two years, not being able to get that 50th singles title must be driving her mad enough to want to punch a clown by now. She's probably been quietly seething about that one. We don't see her emotions, which she keeps very close to her vest. Even Oracene once admitted to wondering where her thoughts are, so inscrutable is Venus. The woman is like a Sphinx!
  11. Leticia James is not the one to mess with.
  12. Also, Michael Cohen's sentencing hearing is set to take place at 11 a.m. this morning, in less than an hour.
  13. if she feels it's not working for her (and the precipitous drop in ranking seems to indicate as much) then that alone would be enough reason for a change. After eleven years things can get stale. A few people people were discussing the fact that he'd said some negative things over the years (which I interpreted as his impatience with the constraints of her auto-immune illness) which made me think that, perhaps were it not for the Sjogren's and the need for stability, she might have made the change years ago. If she got tired of the situation, she is free to make the change. Nobody's obligated to keep a coach on for what remains of their career. Almost nobody keeps the same coach for half their career. People are acting so surprised but even players who were considered to be 'slumping' or at the end of career made coaching changes. I don't remember all this discussion when Pete Sampras had three different coaches in the final two years of his career. Everyone just believed that he was doing what he believed was best to squeeze whatever he could out of his game for whatever time he had left in his career. Maybe for Venus, the risk is worth it, rather than to sleepwalk for the remainder of her career with a situation that has gone stale. She's already gone through the uncertainty of having an undiagnosed illness for five years, so she probably looks at uncertainty in a totally different way than many others.
  14. Only someone with a lot of hubris would want to get on the wrong side of Pelosi.
  15. That was long overdue, tbh. Also, It's being said that Sloane and her coach have temporarily parted ways.
  16. I hope so but people are often blinded by money. Money not only got Bloomberg a first term as mayor of NYC, it got him that 3rd term, which most will agree, was regrettable.
  17. One would think that these forthcoming allegations of fraud against some executives at Bloomberg will have a negative impact on Michael's presidential prospects? Then again...Trump, so...
  18. Has there ever been an administration that has this many lawsuits connected with it, either directly or tangentially? The number of lawsuits is staggering.
  19. That would be a long set up since Merkel won't be stepping down from the Chancellor position until 2021. If you really want look at a head of government being set up to fail, look no further than PM Theresa May and Brexit. Someone just asked today why David Cameron isn't being dragged into Parliament and being made to answer for some of this debacle. Cameron was, after all, the one who set up the referendum (where there was no need) that led the U.K. to this Brexit decision. It was totally unnecessary.
  20. JMO but much of the 1988 material does not age well. At all. Dialogue or otherwise. I had nothing against Beau and his sister Laura (I think that was her name?), I think the story had actual potential but they became a prime example of two new characters who would start off being integrated with the cast somewhat conscientiously and then began to absorb too much screen time. It just seemed obvious that the other stories were stalling for whatever reason and the show relied too heavily on the Laura/Beau material. Perhaps it wasn't just the strike but the fact that some popular actors were leaving or had already left during that period of time? TBH, Laura was a character that like, Doug Cummings and Marsha Talbot, was likely not meant to stick around. Whether it's plot, scenes, dialog, whatever, I've been trying to watch 1988 again and it feels like a HUGE slog! And the cinematography, shot selection all seem pretty basic. Perhaps the crew decided that they weren't going to expend too much creative energy on scenes that seem like filler?
