  1. At this point, I think it is the belief that anything good can ever come from a Trump administration at any age would be the marginal thinking. It appears that the daughters of a Queens based podiatrist are saying that their father helped to diagnose Trump with bone spurs as a favor to D.J's father, Fred Trump in order to help Donald avoid Vietnam after his education deferments were all used up. I say "helped" because there may have been more than one doctor used.
  2. Some former soap actors performed voice-overs for the recently released animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, which is gaining critical and box-office acclaim. Darcy Rose Byrnes (Abby Carlton Newman, Y&R), Chrystee Pharris (Simone Russell Passions, Katie GH)
  3. Indian doubles specialist, Sania Mirza recently had a baby.
  4. I watched HOC but I always wondered about why people would cheer for Frank Underwood. I thought both Frank and Claire needed to go to prison, they were both selfish, horrible people who perverted democracy and justice.
  5. Still in '88 and some really intriguing trivia when it comes to those minor characters (again). Ira Hawkins, the actor who played Dr. Hartley, who declared Tonio Reyes impotent/infertile (and therefore, incapable of fathering Meg's baby) has a prolific career as a character actor onscreen (part of the Law & Order universe) and onstage. Brooke Stacey Mills, who played Carrie Sturgess, Andy Dixon's romantic interest for all of a minute and Lien Hughes' fellow classmate, apparently also played a character named Carrie Sturgess in a 2011 short film called...wait for it...The World Turns! Why let a good character name go to waste, I guess. Vyto Ruginis who played Lien Hughes' racist history teacher Mr. Patelli, has an extensive career as an actor and producer, with films like Moneyball and The Fast and the Furious Also, it seems like any episode from 1988 would be very tough to digitize for sale due to the extensive use of popular music. Every scene that takes place in the Cellar (was this club owned by just Lisa Mitchell or was it jointly owned by Craig Montgomery and Lisa, as part of the Mona Lisa?) uses songs that feature heavily in the Billboard Top 40 and there are many! In previous years, there might be one or two popular (recognizable, anyway) songs per year that often get repeated over and over-- less than five, really, but in '88, there are about well over a dozen that get used in such a short period of time. It seems as if it would be overwhelming to try to scrub those scenes of popular music without a team of people working on it.
  6. You know what? I'm not even watching that Spacey video. I'll take your word for it and assume that it's creepy and highly insensitive and offensive.
  7. Oh, that's right! About a year later, she appeared on GL.
  8. I'm not sure how many people remember her character, Gerry Parker on ATWT (she was briefly Hal Munson's partner after Margo Hughes, pregnant, fled to Greece) but Katell Pleven is a vintner and owns what is known as a Vine Collective. https://www.tvcwines.com/
  9. This is pretty cool though.
  10. Both Harrison brothers and Christina McHale who are all in-laws? Who arranged this men's draw at the Hawaii Open...The Tennis Channel?! The women's draw, at least resembles something of a professional tennis exhibition with elite players but, let's just say that the tournament is lucky that both Milos and Kei decided to play tennis this weekend. Can you imagine having to face the possibility of having the Harrison brothers playing each other in a finals?
  11. Trump has already broken campaign promises. He was emphatic that Mexico would pay for the wall. Now that it is clear that there will never be any chance of that happening, he's just trying to shift the goalpost (apologies for the sports metaphor) and slide the bill to taxpayers. Only his ditzy base believes otherwise.
  12. Same. It's actually really depressing to see how this is all playing out. So much dysfunction. I hate to mention the "R" word but with so much chaos and uncertainty, and the financial markets in the state they're in now, it just seems like the circumstances will be ripe for another recession.
  13. This is the third time she's come through this dreaded disease. She's a tough woman! Just an observation from having followed his career since the days he lived in public housing (by choice) is that Booker seems very earnest, to the point of appearing over eager. This likely springs from the days of him trying to make his way among a constituency that tends to be wary and distrustful of politicians. Whether people believe he was trying to bring the city or Newark into focus among the political elite (who likely would have gone on completely ignoring the city) or using his time among low-income and blue collar constituents as a stepping stone to higher aspirations, Booker did get people to pay attention to the city of Newark and it's residents as something more than a city past redemption and an unfortunate holdover of the riots from the Civil Rights era. People started to actually regard Newark as a city that could be revived. And I seriously doubt John Edwards would've spent all that time living in public housing...by choice.
  14. I can't even keep up with all these resignations anymore. It's ridiculous.
  15. Even though a large portion of the 1988 episodes that are up on You Tube, particularly during the strike, seemed to be bloated by endless flashbacks, there are some interesting BTS facts. The actor who played Barclay Lang, John Ottavino, his 1988 stint doesn't appear on IMDB but his 2007 appearance (as Dr. Sherwood?) does. One would think that the more memorable storyline with Angel and Henry Lang would've been listed on his page but it isn't. With the appearance of Lilith as well as Tom's discovery in Greece of Margo's pregnancy, the episodes become less redundant with filler and flashbacks, less Snyder-centric (somewhat) and more interesting on a consistent basis. Also by this time, the writer's strike has been over since August and these episodes are mid September. Speaking of Lilith, so interesting to discover that Sara Botsford has been doing quite a bit of family-friendly fare these days. She recently played Marilla Cuthbert in the most recent Anne of Green Gables T.V. movies (Fire & Dew, The Good Stars) that aired on Canadian television last year. She's also appearing the Holly Hobbie television series (didn't know there was such a thing!). As a fan of the Anne of Green Gable series, novels and original Canadian t.v. series in the late 80s/early 90s, I'm intrigued. Ironically, Botsford's character Lillith used to scare me as a child.
  16. At this point, it appears that the only way to avert a government shutdown is for Congress to override any presidential veto. The unpredictability and hubris of Trump is what will likely send the U.S. back into an economic recession.
  17. Nothing like a stock market plunge a few days before Christmas.
  18. Italy compromised on a budget. It looks as if they are backing away from any possible confrontation with the E.U. at this point. Perhaps the contentious Brexit talks are having an effect on how member countries approach the E.U.
  19. FedEx will be cutting jobs in the next year, a result they say of the fallout from the trade policies. Their CEO is directly pointing the finger at Trump.
  20. And the Fed just raised rates.
