The more I think about this pronouncement by Trump, the more I think of the possibility of it being just as much of reaction to the fact that he will have to turn over 8 years worth of tax returns to the Manhattan D.A. Think of how long Trump has been fighting against his tax returns ever being scrutinized, and a federal judge ruled against his blocking of his tax returns being sent to the SDNY. I think this could be a bigger deal than people are acknowledging.

Speaking of Harris, The Daily Beast will have to do better at hiding their misogynoir. People have caught on that they have credited Buttigeig for being the first to put out a specific proposal when it was already done by Harris.

Even though the timing seems in sync with reaction to the impeachment investigation, this is something that has been in the works for sometime. Putin wants the U.S. out of Syria, he's wanted that for a long time and Trump has been looking for ways to get out of Iraq and has been not-so-quietly extracting troops out of Syria. That it's something that Turkey also wants due to their distrust and intense dislike (bordering on hatred) for the Kurds is secondary. Putin/Russia runs the show in that region of Syria. Also, the Kurds have been pretty much fighting ISIS almost on their own with little to no major U.S. help has been going on for well over a year now. Like I said upthread, Trump's foreign policy has pretty much been a scattershot mess since the day he took office. The "announcement" has been timed to give the impression that it is for maximum impact over the impeachment business but this has been in the works for sometime. Like @DRW50 mentioned with the Wizard Of Oz reference--Trump wants people to believe that he is all powerful and if you come against him, there will be hell to pay but like Kamala Harris referenced in the last debate, Trump is really just a guy behind a curtain. I also say, he's a guy behind a curtain who is taking orders from Putin and bluffing us all, the way he did to get into the WH in the first place.

The SDNY is coming for Trump and it's what he absolutely deserves.

I prefer to call him a filthy piece of toerag, like his buddy across the Atlantic. Speaking of the toerag in the WH, the Trump administration's foreign policy continues to be trash. No one in the MSM seems to want to call out how terrible the Trump administration's foreign policy has been. It has flopped by almost every measure, in every corner of the world.

Big up, Guyana! I have a good friend who is Guyanese. Well, I guess coming up with insulting nicknames for adversaries is better than admitting that your diplomatic ventures are all failures and you got played by North Korea. I mean, Kim basically got the clout that he was seeking at the U.S.' expense.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I'm watching an episode from October 1993 (courtesy of bandstandmike on YT) and I know that the bottom will soon drop out, as it concerns my interest in the show, but for now, I'm enjoying the fact that I can see still a good ole fashioned Friday cliffhanger. Not that nonsense about every day being like a Friday, therefore Fridays have no meaning and have no cliffhanger or foreseeable impact.- The Politics Thread
Hey @Khan I never knew you had some island heritage. Dap! I mean, most immigrants who come, even the ones who already have jobs, rarely had their health insurance already in place. And frankly, most wealthy and comfortable people are not emigrating anywhere, let alone the U.S.-- even less so, with these onerous policies being put in place. Trump wants to attract the wealthy immigrants who are not even interested in coming. Immigration has trickled almost to a halt. If this continues, we're all looking at a future of economic stagnation similar to Japan.- The Politics Thread
Yeah, that and I do think that the Sanders campaign intentionally broke the news of Bernie's heart attack when they thought it would garner the least attention.- Dynasty Discussion Thread
You'd have bet correctly, Khan. The nerve of him.- The Politics Thread
We're back to "Freaky Fridays" with these Friday evening news dumps (the announcement of Bernie's heart attack, now this).- Dynasty Discussion Thread
I said this in the other Diahann Carroll appraisal thread but it bears repeating: Seeing a HW for one of the remaining daytime soaps un-ironically post a meme with Ms. Carroll from Dynasty while he couldn't be bothered to write for or cast a black vixen like Dominique Deveraux on his own soap is the height of hypocrisy, but as Titus Burgess would say "Do your show, girl".- Dynasty Discussion Thread
This clip has been making its way around social media but it's all about her casting on Dynasty, so it belongs in the Dynasty thread.- The Politics Thread

If anything, it could be a combination of both. Sascha had a pretty mediocre year, compared with previous seasons so it's possible that he might have gotten a boost--winning is winning for some players, especially when one is searching for anything providing a boost. He may have carried some of that energy into the Asian swing, who knows?- The Tennis Thread
I didn't see much of the match but Felix looked tired. This is his first full season on the ATP main tour, no? I don't know whether he's playing Milan but he should try to get some rest, he's likely played more matches than he's ever played before in his career. At 19, he's still a work in progress.- The Politics Thread
