  1. Sadly I don't think you're alone. It feels like this is the situation all over the world. I hardly watch the news anymore because they're so depressing. I'd rather live in a little bubble now and then just to keep my sanity and retain some hope for the future.....
  2. This is nothing new at Wimbledon, and he knows that.
  3. I'm always thrilled when corrupt regimes try to intervene in elections and fail miserably, like they did in Turkey now. In March, the opposition candidate won the mayoral election in Istanbul, but president Erdogan's party AKP contested the result and a court ordered that the election had to be re-taken. Now the opposition candidate won again, and increased his winning margin from 13,000 votes to 775,000 votes! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-48739256 Take that Erdogan!
  4. Author Judith Krantz, author of books like "Scruples", "Princess Daisy" and "Mistral's Daughter", has died aged 91 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-7173043/Steamy-romance-novelist-Judith-Krantz-dies-91.html An author much in the same vein as Jackie Collins and Sidney Sheldon, the first thing that comes to mind for me is this song by Nana Mouskouri which served as the theme for the mini-series based on "Mistral's Daughter"
  5. Absolutely correct, with one exception. I could never get tired of Queen Steffi. Maybe it's because I was around for the Evert/Navratilova dominance, so when Graf came along she was like a breath of fresh air.
  6. On one hand, the unpredictability of women's tennis adds a bit of excitement. You never know who's going to win the major titles. On the other hand you don't get the same rivalries that you had in the old days, which kept people invested and interested. Navratilova vs Evert, Navratilova vs Graf, Graf vs Sanchez Vicario, Graf vs Seles. Everyone knew about them, even those who weren't that interested in tennis. But very few people will have their interest piqued by Osaka vs Barty, Muguruza vs Kvitova or Halep vs Pliskova.
  7. Congratulations to Ashleigh! She's the first female Australian to be #1 in more than 43 years. Evonne Goolagong Cawley was the latest, in early May 1976!
  8. "Upstairs Downstairs" - "Behind the Green Baize Door", "Below Stairs", "Two Little Maids in Town", "The Servant's Hall", "That House in Eaton Square", "165 Eaton Place" (They obviously had difficulties coming up with a final name. But I think they got it right in the end. )
  9. Thank you for that. How I miss the old Emmerdale. Whenever I watch old clips like this I'm reminded of how good the show once was and how bad it is now. And yes, if Archie is in heaven, I'm sure it's Dingle-free.....
  10. I haven't always been happy with how they've written Robert this time around, but he's still a Sugden and it sucks that he's leaving. But at least it's Ryan's decision, and that feels slightly better. I am a bit afraid of how they will write him out though, especially since there's been no talk of Danny/Aaron leaving. I'm really fearful that means that we'll not like they way Robert leaves. I just pray that they won't kill him off. I couldn't stand to lose another Sugden.
