85-86 had three great major stories....... The Abbott Divorce Saga / The Newman-Abbott Affairs / Psycho Shawn Even the minor or B & C stories were good The Abbott Divorce and Psycho Shawn stories climax in March which saw Y&R go #1 briefly and then we go out with a bang, literally in the lead up to summer 86 with Who Shot Jill in May. The show then spent July and Aug in the top spot as well. Yeah Brenda is sometimes good and sometimes cringey from 1985 onwards. Her last year on the show, for me, is her worst though and apart from losing all that history of having Brenda, I am glad Jess took over. Really love her Jill up to 1995.

I kind of get she needed to be away during the time Phillip was hiding out at Kay's and during the whole custody suit, but once that was done in 87, Liz should have been brought back on a recurring basis. She definitely should have been there when her grandson died. As far as I know she wasn't. I find it odd Bell just forget about her too. I am pretty sure 1993 is her last appearance during the Bell years.

So can we assume Julianna's last appearance was when Kay was shot and she doesn't come back until Jill is shot? What great book ends, haha I assume the Foster house was last seen Feb/Mar 85 when Carl is questioning Jill I think after the brief return in 1986 Liz isn't seen again until 1993 after Billy was born. Unless Jill speaks to her via phone at some point before that

He came on first week of Jan 1980 and left Mar 81. Then returned about six months later and stayed until early 85. He came back roughly Jun 87 and left I think in 1995???? Not sure about his very last airdate

Nikki and Jack were planning to shack up and then he pushes her away once he finds out he is going to jail. She moves on with Matt. Then when the Nikki is dying and Ashley is pregnant story occured, Matt is moved to Ashley (though nothing more than a friendship happens) The following year he leaves town

Not sure who the other three were, but in my search to find out, I discovered that Terry Lester audition to replace Bill Espy as Snapper Foster in 1975. When he lost the role to David H, he swore off soaps, apparently John Conboy tried to get him in for other roles, until he finally said yes to Jack Abbott in 1980.

Her last appearance on Y&R was May/Jun 1976. Brad goes to Chicago about his blindness and Barbara tries to convince him to tell Leslie. She was on Days within maybe a week or two of last appearing on Y&R No Deidre played the part to the end July 19, 1976

I just re-checked, we see Victor tell Kevin to call Earl in Japan, but no scene of it happening, but I am pretty sure the vids miss a chunk of show after the Kevin/Victor scene

Here is the synopsis as written, it is possible Kevin or whoever called him simply relayed the information. 'Earl, who's in Japan, insisted he hasn't heard from Allison' I wouldn't be surprised if he was seen briefly. Yep that was it.

Week of Oct 3, 1983 synopsis has him in Japan. When Allison goes missing with Victoria, someone calls him (probably Kevin) to see if he knows where Allison is, seems to be his last appearance

That's what makes her 2002 return so insulting to the character.

Yes late September/Early October 1984 is the last sighting of the Foster house so far. Pretty sure Julianna's last appearance was Feb 1985 until she would return in May 1986. I think after that Liz was not seen again until 1993 after Billy was born which was also her last appearance during the Bill Bell years. ETA: Also missing is Brett Hadley as Carl Williams. I knew he had disappeared around this time. I think he rocks up again in 1985 but is missing again for most of 1986. He actually doesn't appear until May 1986 when Jill is shot.

How long was Melody sick? It seems she has been off for a number of weeks. Vid 60 is around end of September 1984. Anyone know what happened to her? Found out. From Sep 28, 1984. Seems she was out from about August - Nov 1984

Hey everyone. Some more Jill clips not included in the vault uploads. The first a collection of scenes from Jun/Jul 1984. The second is two clips, one from when Ashley fired Lindsey and another from when Lindsey confronts Jill and Jack after Jack reveals all about the wedding. Chunks of this are seen in vid 60a but this clip has bits cut out If anyone is missing the scenes from Jul 84 when Dina and Jill wait for John and the outcome of the contested divorce, I can upload those too.

Yes it was a riff on Rosemary's Baby. I used to think once Nikki found out Jack used her to get Jabot back, the marriage would have ended, no saving of Victoria and no Jack redeemed. BUT if Traci had still returned and Ashley had still married Victor, maybe Bell would have kept them together and things may have played out somewhat the same. Bill Bell said he sometimes planned a year in advance, and sometimes only a few weeks in advance. Kay Alden said as long as a married couple are interesting, they would keep them married. I think Jack may have cheated and done other scoundrel type things, but yeah I now think Bell would have seen the potential of keeping Jack/Nikki/Victor and Ashley in the same orbit.

In the Jill compilation I posted you see when Jill announces her pregnancy to the family, Jack quietly says "I'm sure glad you were pregnant before we spent that night in the cabin" the look on Jill's face was priceless. She had told Kay in October that she was already pregnant, then hoped to get pregnant. Kay confronts her in Dec and Jill faints and finds out she really is pregnant. Lindsey believed Jill's baby was Jack's, she was the only one I think that assumed it. The miscarriage I think really was about the chance of the baby being genetically deformed. Though in a later scene Lindsey brings up the fact that Jill also managed to dodge a bullet by losing the baby since she believed it to be Jack's

No not at all. John also never made the connection that Jill's pregnancy may have been from Jack, I figured he would at least be suspicious once he knew she had an affair in November and announced her pregnancy in December, even though everyone believed she was pregnant from October. Ashley saw Jill and Marc together once and questioned Jill, but Jill managed to convince her nothing was going on, Lindsey also saw them together but didn't do anything about it, Jill managed to keep this one hidden from the cameras, haha.

Thanks so much for that great in depth information. I love hearing about behind the scenes production elements of the soaps, had always wondered about Y&R's production model. Y&R always came across as a little more polished than other soaps to my eye. Marc also had a brief affair with Jill in 1984 when Jill was convinced John was carrying on with Dina

I wonder also if it has to do with how isolated the Y&R cast were in story. Many of the main long running cast had little chance to work with each other, and probably rarely saw actors that were not in their characters story spheres. I know Eileen/Beth/Jerry and Terry were all super close, but they spent most of their time together. Tracey B and Beth were also friendly and Kimberlin and Tracey B also seemed to have had at least a close working relationship as well. Through the 90's Peter was mostly isolated to The Abbotts and Newman's. Maybe none of them liked him, haha, but they all secretly got together when he wasn't around. Jokes Everyone loved Jeanne too and many cast are still friendly with each other. Brenda D has been seen with a few different ex and current cast members and it seems Eileen and Brenda Epperson became friends as well. I think on set it was just a serious business, and that may have had to do with how Bell ran the show back then. He was very specific about how scripts should be performed and according to Jeanne they were given six or seven takes to do it (not sure which period of the show this was, I know on the 70's it was apparently live to tape) Not sure about other shows but Y&R always seemed like a heavy production load for the actors. They were probably sick of seeing each other.

Thanks for that. Yes I think the second Max first appears around Spring 1983 when Julia is at Gina's and almost chokes, he could have appeared prior though. The first Max seems to be there at least until Jan 83

Does it say who the two different Max's were (Eve's boyfriend) I always forget, plus I never realised there were two different actors in the role
