  1. Such wonderful uploads. The 1985 episode was so interesting, especially compared to later Y&R where they always tried to portray Katherine as some saintly victim of Jill's. It really sucks the later writers took Katherine's edge away and made her little more than a Victor Newman cheerleader. Classic Y&R is a treat to watch. There's a lot of classic AMC and ATWT, but Y&R takes more effort, so I am grateful. I'm curious about Liz not having much money. Wasn't she the widow of the wealthy Stuart Brooks?
  2. Thank you so much for these great videos. Such a treat!
  3. It WAS stupid given that Victor now has an Abbott heart, yet still goes after Jack every chance he gets. Traci literally told him not to waste her daughter's heart and we see how that went. In terms of it being the worst, I disagree. Victor's had quite a few horrible storylines, all of which have made him look downright evil, in the last few years. The one where he tried to convince Sharon she was seeing her dead child stands out. Yes, it did lead to her meeting MarIah, but to use someone's, especially a woman who has struggled with mental illness, dead daughter to cause them to break down? That's kind of sadistic imo.
  4. I don't know if anyone has posted this link, but someone uploaded several Victor and Nikki scenes to Google Drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B5mFy--WwGtzeVpsQjVQSWYyRlk
  5. Wonderful. Thank you so much to everyone involved in getting these tapes up for us all to see. I loved seeing Nikki before she was the Genoa City snob she currently is. It's also great seeing Katherine, one of my favorite characters. How did Katherine and Nikki become friends exactly? The few early 80's episodes out there show them already being pretty friendly as early as 82. Was it the Bancroft marriage that put Nikki in Katherine's orbit?
  6. My all time favorite GH character was Lucy Coe. I was a little disappointed when they completely changed her from a schemer to a comic relief type. I appreciate character growth, but her early manipulations were great fun to watch. I am surprised they allowed her to keep her Quartermaine stock all these years.
  7. Did Erica ever actually work as an actress? I know she tried with Raising Kane, but I wasn't sure if she ever actually had acting as one of her careers. I think it was listed as one of her jobs in the Having It All book.
  8. I wish they had really pursued Lisa vs Lucinda far more. It ended up mostly being Lucinda doing things, Lisa making snide comments, then nothing. But it had a lot of potential, especially in the early days.
  9. Thank you! I think there's some Youtube episodes surrounding that story, so I will have fun watching them.
  10. I have only watched OLTL, Y&R, ATWT, GH and AMC, but all those shows definitely added "super mogul" type characters at the end of the 70's/start of the 80's. Y&R , AMC and OLTL had wealthy characters, but I think Dynasty and Dallas, as said above, really influenced the writing. OLTL's Buchanans were fairly blatant Dallas rip-offs. I really did like that ATWT was the only one, from what I know, to add a female super mogul character. Y&R added Victor, AMC added Palmer and especially Adam, OLTL added the Buchanan family.
  11. Oh, yes. I keep forgetting about that marriage for some reason. I thought Lucinda ruined his business, but I haven't seen much of that story. I did like how Lisa actually had a house, not a penthouse over a restaurant, during that time. I've long had a bit of an eye roll that some of the world's richest people would not only live in small towns, but be so easily accessible. A random unemployed person can show up at the front door of a multi billionaire on these shows.
  12. I felt bad for Erica in the baby kidnapping story. It was the one that ultimately made me forever dislike Dimitri. The woman was clearly mentally unwell, having suffered a miscarriage and had to help deliver his supposed love child. Not that her behavior was correct in any way, but, just as when she had that mental episode and stabbed him, he was out for blood. Didn't matter that her behavior was insanity caused by trauma, grief, whatever.
  13. Can someone tell me a few things about Lisa? She was my favorite character, but I unfortunately was not alive during the character's heyday and she was largely a supporting character from the 80's on, minus a few stories. I am curious exactly how she got rich? She didn't seem incredibly rich after her marriage to Grant. Well off, but not as rich as someone who could later afford a high end boutique, multiple restaurants, a newspaper, a hotel, some investment in the Yacht Club and various other things. Was she originally portrayed as money hungry? I keep seeing comparisons to her and AMC's Erica, but Erica wanted fame and fortune. I do think Erica's Jeff Martin marriage may have been an attempt at a Bob and Lisa type thing for AMC. I'm also curious if anyone knows of any Youtube videos that chronicle her late 80's sleeping pill addiction? I think it was apparently around the time she was being manipulated into believing her late husband Earl was trying to drive her mad. I think James Stenbeck was behind it, which I would love to see. I rarely saw Lisa and James interact.
  14. I'm grateful for any and all Y&R uploads. It's annoying how hard it is to find any Y&R episodes online, so I know you uploaders have to take extra steps to be careful. Very appreciated.
  15. Sony doesn't seem to realize they could easily be making money off starting a streaming service with classic Y&R episodes. They need only look at the prices sellers charge for videos. I'll never understand their constant copyright claims when they show no intention of profiting from the old episodes.
  16. Thanks for more great uploads. I keep hoping someone will post more mid to late 90's episodes. Happy New Year's everyone.
  17. RIP Della Reese. I know she was only on briefly, maybe two episodes?, but I loved her work in TV, films and music.
  18. Joshua Morrow doesn't bother me per se. If Nick was written in a way that was particularly interesting, then I might want a better actor, but as is, the character himself is somewhat boring to me. I don't know if that's because they write to Morrow's "strengths" as an actor, or they have no ideas, but Nick's stories are dull. It's always- fall in love, have a conflict with likely involving Sharon and/or Victor, break up, get with Sharon, feud with Victor, forgive Victor temporarily. In my opinion, any character in Victor's family is nearly dulled down to allow Victor to be the "most interesting". Except Adam. But, as a whole, I agree with DRW50. Y&R, for me, always had more interesting female characters. Katherine and Jill's feud was entertaining for so long, never becoming dull like Victor vs. Jack imo, because the show put effort into creating complex characters. Both had flaws, both "lost" at different times in their feud. Entertaining. Whereas, for me, Victor and Jack is a huge egomaniac with a God complex vs. a more tolerable spoiled heir egomaniac. Also ruined by Victor always having to win in the last decade or so. Characters like Kay, Jill, Sheila, Drucilla, even Nina-who I wasn't nuts about, but Tricia Cast is a fantastic actress- carried the show. Of course, the Brooks sisters, but that was before my time, sadly. Now we have weak Lily, dull Victoria- much better when Heather Tom played her-, boring Mariah, boring Chelsea, hot, but boring Cane, Billy and Phyllis, who were once entertaining, but are now badly and boringly written. Even once interesting characters like Michael and Lauren have been long dulled down.
  19. I find that odd as well. In general, even with everyone having to use unlisted playlists, I find it weird to that Y&R is nearly impossible to find. Y&R was growing in popularity during the 80's, at least the late years, which means the others were decreasing since Y&R went to number one in, I believe, 1990. Yet so little Y&R, except for your great uploads.
  20. Thank you so much for the new uploads! I'm sick in bed a few more weeks, so these are a treat.
  21. I didn't like Erica with either Montgomery. For me, that's when the character started to become somewhat dull. I was never a fan of Bianca and thought Erica would have been more interesting with a son. Being so feminine, that dynamic might have been more unique than the early days of her dressing spoiled brat Bianca up. Beyond that, Travis was my least favorite Kane husband due to his holier than thou hypocrisy. He got Bianca kidnapped, he lied, cheated and produced a child, then used Bianca- first to get back with Erica, then to punish her- yet Erica was the horrible parent? Jack was also holier than thou and hypocritical quite often. I never understood why they said Jack was the only man who never tried to change Erica. It's BS. Adam never tried to change her. Control her, stay one step ahead of her, but not change her actual personality.
  22. I recall Eileen Fulton referring to Jeanne as a friend in her As My World Still Turns book. I can't recall if Jeanne attended her early 90's Cinegrill performance in LA, or just sent flowers, but I remember Eileen mentioning her, and I think Darlene Conley, as friends. Sadly, I'm not shocked by the issues with Ed Scott and MTS. Katherine was basically nothing except a busybody, so Jeanne's annoyance made sense. MTS has always struck me as somewhat full of herself. I'm wondering if Ed Scott's issues with Jeanne were because he thought his precious wife should be regarded as the show's grand dame? Does anyone know how Ed Scott and MTS got along with Lauralee Bell during this time?
  23. Does anybody have any unlisted B&B playlists on youtube? I know Y&R has a couple someone linked in that thread.
  24. Mine too! A couple people were nice enough to put their unlisted playlists on here, so I keep hoping they'll be more unlisted videos.
  25. How I wish Sony and CBS weren't so obsessive about old episodes. I could see it if they intended to upload them on a for profit site, but I don't think they do. I wish Youtube had Y&R, especially from 1995 to the early 2000's. There's also sadly no clips of the Victor/Jill fling in the early 90's. Still, I'm grateful to the brave souls who do upload clips.
