Thanks for sharing the photos! I'll never forget that storyline concerning the Bachmann's and Dave's death.

Keep a close watch of the extras/bit players in the episodes that aired today at noon. There are two future soap stars appearing, one in each episode (one is quickly recognizable).

I believe Linda Grover was the writer. At least she was as of this July 1978 article. The anniversary was April 1 so I don't know if the celebration was delayed or there was just a lag time in writing about it.

Thank you for taking the time to do that. Could you PM me their address? I may also write.
Did they say anything about plans for more episodes on Retro TV?
They didn't specifically say anything about future episodes on Retro TV but I did let them know I was enjoying the show on Retro. I had sent an e-mail to Retro last week but received a canned response that others have also received.

I sent a message to SFM Entertainment, which is the distributor for "The Doctors,' telling them I was enjoying the show and asking about possible DVD release, including the episodes that we haven't seen. The response was very positive (I had mentioned that fans had been in contact with various cast members via social media so that's why he asked me for contact information).
Jane:
Thank you for your most articulate and complimentary note. We are so pleased that you are enjoying "THE DOCTORS", as it took a great deal of time, efforts and persistence to return this iconic series to television. The outpouring of favorable audience reaction has been remarkable. You help to make all our efforts worthwhile. I have shared it with the people at RetroTV, who, also, saw the merits of returning this iconic series to today's television audience.
Yes, there are plans to issue these shows on DVD and, once that is put in place, we would plan on adding some of the materials you refer to in your note. That will include earlier episodes and interviews, provided we can locate the 'still living' talent. If you have some contact information from various cast members, please forward to me here at SFM.
Stay tuned!
All the best.

I don't dislike Nancy but I think she and Mike are a huge mismatch. Nancy Donohue reminds me of a young Diana Muldaur.

Yes, their characters were married at one time. JC was on SS after he left DS. I only started watching SS after reading in 16 Magazine that he was on it.

When Matt and Maggie became regulars on the show, Matt was a widower and Maggie was married to her first husband, Alec Fielding. Fielding died and she then married Kurt Van Alen (who was Greta's father). From what I have gathered, Matt and Maggie were attracted to each other over that time but circumstances kept stopping them from getting together.

Thanks Slick, that was an interesting behind-the-scenes article. I guess Days never did hire that "historian" the article mentioned.

I believe that is Valerie Mahaffey. Great find!

I thought Susan Flannery was gone by the time Jennifer was born?
She was still there when Laura became pregnant with Jennifer but Susan Oliver was playing Laura when Jennifer was born.

C.C. Courtney (Jody Lee) sang one of his own songs during today's second episode---"If You Let Me Make Love to You (Then Why Can't I Touch You)," which was a hit for Ronnie Dyson in the early 70s. The song was in an off-Broadway musical called "Salvation," which he wrote with Peter Link, who played Tom Hughes on "As the World Turns." Here's an interview with the two of them.

Thanks for the Barbara Rodell interview! She's one of my favorite soap actresses. Ironic that she's talking about "dying" on "Another World," because her character on "Secret Storm" also died.

Not the best era for the show. But I did enjoy Joshua and Jessica, and Doug and Julie were about to remarry in a few months so I liked that.
I noticed on the link next to one of your photos that the site identified the woman as Susan Flannery, when it's actually Margaret Mason. It's funny because someone on Twitter posted a photo of Margaret Mason (with a young Melissa) and thought it was Susan Flannery's Laura with Jennifer. I don't see the resemblance at all, especially not enough to confuse the two. Or maybe that's just because I saw them both when they were on Days?

Found on newspapers.com (hence the quality) from March 17, 1967.

I thought Polly's questions about Townsend were odd and when she was dying she also sounded like she was talking about someone taking a baby away from her. Maybe that was dropped because there was no one still around her knew about that after John Rice left?

The silent movie Florence Williams is the only one I saw on IMDB when I was searching. But I seem to remember there was some scandal involving that actress but can't remember what it was.

I didn't think she was old enough for the silent movies. The only article I've seen with her is one where she's in the country with her real husband. And then I found this on newspapers.com (from 1943).

Can you tell me what the name of Althea's mother on The Doctors was (the actress)? I think I have a photo of her from her radio soap days.
Her name was Florence Williams. I know she was on "Front Page Farrell" with Richard Widmark.

I recently listened to an episode of "Road of Life," from the 1940s and an 11-year old boy was on trial for murder. I can't imagine the tv soaps doing a story like that.

Thanks for the article!

From 1977 (Trish's multiple personalities storyline).

This is an interview (of sorts) with Sheri Anderson when she was a script writer for Days that appeared in various newspapers in August 1976. Funny that Bill Bell is referred to as "a story editor in Chicago."

What happened?
He committed suicide in 1987 (reportedly because he was despondent over his acting career).

Monika, thanks for sharing the notes from Beverly. She was another favorite from my younger days. I was really spoiled by the soap actresses/actors I watched when I was growing up.
