  1. Yes, we do react quickly here. I am just upset to see Anna cry about Valentin. As always, he is as menacing as a noodle. And we got another breakup for him. I do appreciate Anna putting the pieces together that he was using her to cover his tracks. At least they addressed that. There is a deep bench when it comes to talented women on this show. Like an embarrassment of actual talent that should be utilized daily. Right now I don’t think any of the other soaps have this many women on contract that are actual powerhouses. I’m not saying the talent isn’t there too, it’s just GH is stacked with women 40+ that are still doing vibrant work under the circumstances. Maybe I’m wrong, I am sure others will point it out. That does make me happy as a viewer, because back in the good old days those characters would be shuffled off.
  2. That doesn’t make sense to me because Easton was on contract, and probably a generous one in today’s climate due to how long he was with ABC. James Patrick Stewart is recurring and could just go away anytime as far as budget is concerned. I wonder if Genie took her summer vacation, and if that has played a part in Laura’s story right now. She is too isolated without Nikolas and Spencer. Hopefully Lucky helps with that. I think what happened is that nobody had a plan. And what plans they did try to make were being constantly undone by either ABC, Valentini, or both. And I think of Korte as an extension of FV here.
  3. Maura West has really been doing solid work considering she probably has no idea what the hell they are doing with Ava. I am so disgusted by this turn with Anna. The Anna I grew up watching, the one that was my favorite character of all time on GH would make the hard choice to turn Valentine in. She would be conflicted, she would be upset, but she would make the hard decision. She would not behave as desperate about saving someone that has been betraying her. And he has been betraying her.
  4. Strangled is a great metaphor for what has been airing. It’s like there was a story meeting and every single bad impulse was chosen as the direction to go in. I haven’t even seen today and I am enraged at what they are doing to Anna.
  5. The show is desperately in need of an umbrella storyline that has a beginning, middle, and end, like the water crisis. Shock the show with adrenaline, three weeks max, use the majority of the cast, and set your other long term stories up to spin out. Otherwise it just keeps limping on in this directionless mess. Have there been any rumblings about other writers joining Korte or taking over and she goes back to the team? When Mulcahey bounced those were the rumors right? Thanks to the strike, the firing and promoting Korte/Mulcahey, and whatever happened after that, we have had an entire year of stories just starting and stopping, being dropped, ignored, etc. Frank clearly cannot EP from a story point of view. This show is in dire need of someone to control story and he produces the show. Even Felicia’s Aztec revisit in the 1990’s was given an ending when it wasn’t working and Guza was coming back. And that had maybe been airing a month at best.
  6. I would have loved for this show to go full villain on Valentin. Anna leaves, and Valentin drops the charade, pulls out a tarot card, and we realize that he used Victor’s conditioning to get Charlotte to “make peace” with Anna, knowing it would throw her off. I like the actor and I see a place for a calculating gray character on the show right now. But this is not the way to do it! She looks so foolish. Carly is impulsive to a sometimes dangerous degree, but not this stupid.
  7. Why is Carly telling this man everything?
  8. It felt like they had pivoted away from that story (Anna shooting her) pretty quickly even before CVE and Dan were fired. I assumed it was deeply unpopular. The last year of this show has been the most disjointed it has ever been. The sheer volume of starts and stops and dropped stories across that period is incredible. FV has dropped stories before, but nothing like this. The only excusable one was anything to do with Mac. All the rest are just amateurish for a team this seasoned.
  9. Also, how could Abby ever fully love someone she knows would always have feelings for Valene? That’s why I think the babies pushed their relationship in the direction of her deciding to enjoy it while it lasts, and not fall any deeper. I don’t think we ever saw her have anything like the depth and complexity she felt with Gary as far as relationships go. I am dying for the show to finally land somewhere streaming. I will eventually watch the whole show again, but I know I am starting with season 4 through Laura’s death for my first round.
  10. At least those two actually did drink beers together at Jake’s when they met. Trying to recapture their youth?
  11. One of the things I remember about his tenure was the Q mansion being renovated and the family was forced to gather in the smaller drawing room in the other wing. And once revealed, his new sets for the mansion were incredible. The stairs actually went somewhere, there was a visible landing people could look over just above the staircase. Monty got rid of that during her Earthquake.
  12. This is where I stand on Heather. Alley Mills impressed me during her original stint- she reminded me more of the version Mary O’Brien played. Kind of a needy and manipulative basket case compared to Robin’s more calculating and dangerous version (I am talking original stint). Her last few visits RM played Heather as more of a cartoon IMO (which was the writing). I didn’t like the Esme retcon, or her being The Hook. If this was RM, who has actual history with all these players (they could even use flashbacks!), I would care more. The effort would be more worth it, because we could get back to the dark manipulator and Robin can be down right chilling when it’s called for. Using the murder hip to bring back that Heather I could at least enjoy. I don’t care at all about this story as presented now. Because it’s going to lead to more goofy than chilling Heather. The last thing Trina, Alexis, and Laura need is this mess. Sad news. He had just gotten active on social media again and was telling lovely stories about his time on GH and his plans to make a film about his life. And while not as progressive as today, he wanted people to be healthy, but he understood and shared the emotional issues many people suffer with involving their weight.
  13. I love that scene between Greg and Abby. I do think Abby loved Gary for a period of time, as much as she was capable of loving someone. She certainly loved sleeping with him! I think the love dissipates when she sees how bad a drunk he was, followed up by knowing the babies are his. At that point she may have liked her marriage, but she had actual money and resources with Lotus Point that didn’t require Gary to continue. Season 5, Wolfbridge, and Gary chasing after her all kind of cemented they did love each other for me, even if they knew it was bad news.
  14. Clooney lost me when he tried to circumvent the strike process after having dinner with I believe WB studio head Zaslov. He assembled (although many of them refused to go public about it) a bunch of A list millionaire talent to negotiate the terms for the contract independent of their Union “to benefit the rank and file member more than themselves”. Bullshit. He certainly didn’t have as much vigor for attacking Zaslov’s strategy to tax write off completed projects, upsetting and demoralizing talent left and right! The fact that none of these elites have asked Biden to step aside and specifically requested they put Harris at the top of the ticket says it all about her and them. Do they not realize just how popular that ticket still remains with Black voters? And thanks to Taraji (not the media), folks have been looking into Project 2025 and were starting to be motivated again after expressing some collective apathy. I hate that the most unserious people with money at stake are the voices that keep trying to disrupt this process. It’s already an oligarchy when people are out here screaming not the big money doners!
  15. Holly/Blake had a more complex relationship than Nina/Willow. Ross and Holly did too, thanks to Roger always looming and Holly being neurotic. There were many angles to play. Plus Blake (the only Blake for me is Sherry) was out for blood and genuinely fell in love. For those types of stories it was a good one. Sabrina sucked. The audience really suffered through that story and Carlos. I wasn’t watching when she got killed off, I had to take a break.
  16. I am so desperate to have a reason to care about Willow that I just imagined Sasha telling her she saw them, and Willow trying to explain to an increasingly angry Sasha, who is going to tell Michael. And then Willow shoves her down those infamous Q stairs. Coma or death, I’m fine with either outcome for Sasha. Coma at least promises she wakes up, can’t remember what happened, and they drag it out for longer. Let both of Nina’s daughters be monsters.
  17. The comedy of KT trying to return as Britt! She wanted off and to be killed because she didn’t want to play just another character on the show, she wanted to be one of the leads. And Burton’s firing was the catalyst.
  18. Much like Patrick Drake, Dante did not fare well under Frank and Ron. Ron just doesn’t know or doesn’t care to write a complex male who isn’t a villain or villain adjacent. Now if they like how the man looks without his shirt on, they at least let them blandly carry on. Nathan for example. And yes, as we have discussed, there was a concentrated effort on the show to shift Jason into the lead character, and slightly downgrade Sonny those last few years of Guza. Carly was still in the mix, but Guza never centered Laura Wright like he did SJB or even TB. She still ate the show alive as far as appearances though. Franco was obsessed with Jason and Sam, not Sonny. I hated almost all of Guza’s work from his 2002 return to his firing. But I have never denied it was strongly written. It was just too bleak for me, and it got increasingly sad watching them (Guza/JFP) dismantle the show. I would pop in for weeks and then not watch for a couple months, etc. And as annoying as I found their run, it wasn’t generic. Luke, Maxie, Sonny, Carly, Jason, Liz, Lulu, Dante, Robin, etc they all had their own voices in the scripts. Even a returning character like Laura or Brenda still had their own specificity. I have come to appreciate that when compared to the totally generic show we got once Carlivati was fired. I love how both of them had matured, but the same issues will always break them apart. It has been consistent since she wore the wire. They are toxic for each other, and yet they cannot fight the pull for long. He wants power, now that he has it he wants it even more. And she wants his passion to be for her, for that to override everything else. These are fantastic scenes for both of them.
  19. Nobody had the choice, but had they stayed as Todd, McBain, and Starr, I think they would have been more successful. None of the new roles worked as well, and the show still trying to make them work was a disservice to everybody.
  20. The story with Heather’s murder hip is yet another stalled story that doesn’t work. It’s time to move forward or drop it (which I would prefer). The argument was stupid, Portia and Laura are both being wasted. As far as Portia’s argument goes, I get her feelings because of Trina. What I don’t get is the constant reference to family. They are barely connected, and if Laura was going to interfere in a legal matter for her family I would think it would be for Nikolas. This also is a place Sasha has a natural fit to be included in story and isn’t. Are they laying the groundwork for dealing with Monica? That scene with Trina and Joss about who is in charge of the house. The scene the day before with Tracy and the terribly named McConkey. I wish LC was in better health.
  21. I loved him as Ben, and what I have seen of his Joe Kelly. Ben/Val and Abby/Gary were my preferred partners for them. They really missed an opportunity with those cable stations and Ben considering how important cable news became. I think there was way more ground to cover there with he and Abby at odds than an affair with Cathy or whatever the hell that last season story was for him.
  22. What a great time to reveal she craves attention so much that she faked her cancer. That was probably the greatest board generated plot about GH and I am still here waiting for it to be used by the show. A modern day early Karen Wolek (without the deep bench of talent both on camera and bts).
  23. Didn’t she cheat on Chase after bonding with Michael during the fake relationship story? Drew could go either way. He is more of a cypher than a character at this point. My feeling about the chaos bts is that all three of them are responsible. Mulcahey is a character based writer, and most of these characters were generic at best. Korte has been on the teams that stripped most of the personality from the show. And Frank manages the show in a way that makes storytelling difficult. What has played out onscreen has been challenging due to all three and the nature of a shotgun wedding. I feel for Maurice. Sonny is supposed to be volatile. If he cannot play that (and shouldn’t be forced to) then what are we doing with Sonny anymore? He clearly needs a character reset that makes him less intense. I know he has threatened retirement for a couple of years, but based on what I have seen from State of Mind he also spirals when he doesn’t have work. The truth is that the Sonny’s meds situation and Pikeman should have been moved into another phase, and both were just stalled out and spinning wheels. Same with the stupid Heather Webber story. Instead the show has focused on Finn’s family, Drew, and Blaze. No wonder the ratings have yet to truly stabilize.
  24. This has been such a strange way to tell this story. There was room for anger at Ava and still the greater emotional issues- Blaze has a mother that does not support her being a lesbian and actively has tried to keep her from being public about it/just living her life. They have the right idea- this should be an umbrella story that touches many corners-Blaze/Kristina, Natalie, Sonny and Alexis, Deception, and Brook Lynn. But they have chosen to focus the crux of the story around Ava’s actions instead of Natalie. It would have been interesting for Aiden to be a fan, and see this fallout and start having a hard time too, which adds Liz And her family to the umbrella. Instead it’s about Ava being a bumbling villain.
  25. I am drawing a blank. When did this happen and what characters? It’s disgusting! They used to be able to do this! Even something as grounded as BJ’s heart had Bobbie’s affair with Damian being exposed by Tony as she was being wheeled in to the ER.
