Valentini leaving seems like wishful thinking right now. I think we will have a better view once Mulcahey is out of the credits and the new team is named. This has been such a strange year. I hope anyone that would replace Valentini is not someone that is older. They need to be working on tomorrow, not yesterday.

GH: Former Actor Returning After Eight Year Absence!
Even that was pretty mild compared to what happened to Carly, Alexis, Liz, Sam. Tracy chased deadbeat Luke around, Anna became an Eli Love groupie, Laura a wig on a stick. Not a great time for women on a show that should have known better. But look at today? Not much better, if not worse for writing marginalized folks.

Perez Hilton was bad enough. Then you add on propping like I have not seen. Jesus this show and the person running it. It is not the audience’s fault that Sonny doesn’t have a woman right now and you are desperate to keep Natalia to have someone for him to flirt with. She is absolutely worse than Ava in this situation. Instead of doing the work to have her come around and learn, they just want us to forget she was the homophobe in the first place! They have got to stop taking the wrong step every time. Whatever is compelling them to do this has to go. I don’t think I have ever seen GH fans hate every story they are telling consistently right now- Heather, Jason/Carly, and Natalia’s fallout.

This defending of Cates is wild to me. He has shown a personal vendetta from 30 years ago that neither Karen nor Stone would support is more important than his job. He is protecting a criminal instead of charging them (Carly) to use that to blackmail another person who may be a criminal but Cates doesn’t have any proof on (Jason). He is stupid enough to fall for what Ava is dishing out even though there is plenty of information out there about her crimes. He fell for Valentin’s attempt to frame Anna without a second thought. I don’t like Anna letting Valentin off or most of her behavior in this story. But Cates is a dead end and also equally wrong/compromised if not moreso.

Watching Ava work Jagger is fun. The things they got right with the original Jagger and this one- he was always a hothead and not smart. Even though I have been sick of Carly for close to 20 years, I am happy to see LW playing Carly again, and not some pod person that is everyone’s best friend. The only thing missing is she could also be quite dangerous, and I haven’t seen that just yet. What was with the Luke stuff? I believe there was recently a photo of Geary in the US visiting. Makes me wonder.

Without a doubt. I’m just saying I see the possibility that she brings the info to Frons and backs his ultimate decision. I could easily see her with pages from a focus group and a list of actors that could go for a sweeps stunt and the budget to pay for said stunts. And at that time I would bet Stuart Damon had a pretty solid contract. I’m talking when Jean and Shelly took over after Ron. I thought Wolf was boring af, and those two were a close second.

I don’t think Bob was the deciding factor against Genie Francis. While he did not focus on her like he did during his first run, (Laura on trial for murder, Nikolas reveal) some of that had to do with her own feelings at the time and having one foot out the door back at home with her family. They also stalled out about Lucky, and had her mourning forever while he focused on his greater story- breaking up Luke & Laura. When he and Pratt took over in 2002, the umbrella story they wanted to tell was focused once again on Laura. The bts stuff with JFP and ABC killed whatever that original plan was (and the rumors are horrible, but it would still have been incredibly acted by Genie, Denise, and Tony). Due to the way she behaved, I also think Jill was behind getting rid of Becky Herbst. Vee is correct that Pratt and Guza were named consulting producers, but Jill did still have some power where things like the budget were concerned, and that allowed her to take players off the board even if he wanted them. Stuart Damon being one (MVJ confirmed that Guza did not want to kill Alan). What happened with both Genie and Vanessa in 2002 fits a pattern that we saw Jill do on both GL and OLTL to women. And Garin Wolf wrote the most boring version of this show ever, until Passanante got there as HW.

I see Sonny is back to imploding. Carly said Sonny and Jason so many times in such a short amount of time I almost thought it was 2006 again. Anna should have known how this was going to end up. Also as the meds Valentin tampered with come back into focus I am reminded again about how sloppy the plotting is on this show. Another wasted detail just to keep Valentin from the conclusion he was headed towards. If they actually go to court about these custody issues this really will feel like the Guza days. Bob Guza loved a trial involving Sonny or his circle of characters.

My least favorite Jake, so that makes me sad for you.

What sad news. I adored her on AMC, and Gillian’s death was one of those errors that I never understood. It was the only time I liked Ryan in any relationship. I hate that ABC was so desperate to seem edgy in the late 90’s- 2000’s, so we lost characters that were charming and fun to watch for loudmouths and darkness.

You know who was missing in this scene? Rocco. Even sitting next to a fake Lulu in a coma would do a lot towards grounding him as her son. It did make me wonder if we could possibly see Lulu again sometime in the next few months. It’s funny, I cannot stand watching scenes with Violet or Charlotte. But I actually enjoy Maxie’s kids. Scenes like this with Trina should have been happening for months. The show is still trying to tell more emotional material, but the scripts are back to being generic to me. I can’t put my finger on why. They have details and character bits, but it doesn’t feel as grounded as it did just a couple of months ago. The stories they are telling feel hollow.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
I think it was Morgan, and Ed Scott IIRC. The show looked so beautiful under Ed Scott’s moody lighting. Unlike what JFP did at GH, Scott’s Y&R infused history added depth to the lighting without just being overly dark and hard to watch. She tried bless her heart. The last time I regularly watched DAYS, it felt like the cheap version Tomlin was producing mixed with a bad Reilly knockoff (Ron’s C). I think Ron did great work on OLTL for a couple of years. And his nostalgia fueled first couple of years at GH more than likely saved the show from cancellation. But eventually it kind of slips into Dorian election territory. Camp, and often not the fun kind. And as time us gone on I feel like I could watch any show he has been added to and tell you exactly what characters will be driving every story in 6 months, plus whatever legacy character he knows is the show to the public. Viki on OLTL, Marlena on DAYS, a little bit Luke on GH. GH was a hybrid though because of the OLTL refugees and Valentini’s insistence they be used all the time.

If this is the end of Pikeman, where was the reveal about Roger Howarth’s character? Didn’t someone from the show (Korte maybe) say that was going to be part of this story too? I feel like in the early days of Jason’s return we kept hearing about this great umbrella story that was so much better than what the last HW’s wrote- that it tied Jason to Pikeman and Austin’s death as well. Another dropped thread for the last year.
